You could just return the full package while ordering the size M and pick up at the same time. Just a lot of fluffing around the time wasted.

My alpine loop size S fits perfectly and I can just squeeze my hand and wrist through to put the watch on.
But I’m worried about scratching my laptop when the G hook is at the centre under my wrist.

I just don’t like the excess band looping all the way around my wrist and when I can see the end of the strap on the other side.
UPDATE…I figured out what I did wrong fitting the strap…it fits perfect. 🤦‍♂️ Been a long week in clinic… loving the strap.

How did you fit it wrong? Put it on inside out?

That looks great on your wrist! Any difficulty fitting your hand through when putting the watch on?

Best Buy worked out for me - my original order from Apple would not have been here for almost two more weeks. Best Buy delivered my Orange Alpine Apple watch at 5:45 PM today. Came charged to 88% and I’m more than pleasantly surprised. I know the screen is only slightly larger but the flat screen, brightness subjectively seems better - and more legible to my aging eyes. Size wise, only seems ever so slightly larger on my 175mm wrist (have the Medium Alpine) and weight difference is negligible from my 7. Alpine band is comfortable and light, no problem with the “G” hook. Even shifting my cellular service to this via the Watch app was easy and painless - full setup in less than 10 minutes from opening.

Overall very happy - and my wife tried on - she now wants even with her small wrist. Wayfinder watch face is nicely complex and able to add in all the functionality I want. This is quite a nice watch - picking up the white Ocean band from apple store tomorrow. Likely also be ordering one for my wife .

Yep, that’s exactly what I did. I was so excited to get the watch and so mentally drained I flubbed it the first time and assumed it was just too small. And no problems with sliding on…a wee bit tight but no problems and worth the effort lol. And you bring up a great point, I will need to be mindful when using my laptop not to scratch it with titanium piece on the bottom loop.

Perfect! We have same size wrist then :)

Glad I’m not the only person with small wrist who is loving the ultra!

You’ll have to return the watch and the strap and get another set. They’re sold as a combo.

It literally makes no sense to do this by Apple. Seems like the early days of the Apple Watch. It’s basically a separate package so Apple is going to make you return a perfectly good Ultra because you need a size M instead of a L? Terrible!

Totally agree - Apple should sell the watch and straps separately, or allow exchange of the band while letting you keep the watch.
So I have dealt with this in the past, and it is not a problem if you go into an Apple store within 14 days. Technically, it is processed as complete return of both watch and band, then another purchase of watch plus different band. But actually what they do is resell your watch back to you, but with a different band - assuming the band is in stock. I did not have to erase or unpair my watch, they gave it back to me with a new band. But the paperwork shows complete return and new purchase, with the same serial number listed on the return as on the new purchase.

I do not know what happens if the new band is not in stock in the store.

At least this is my experience. I cannot guarantee it will be the same for others

How many slots from the end of the watch does everyone wear their alpine loop?

My wrist is 155mm, size S alpine loop and I’m in slot 7 from the end of the watch.

Just wondering whether I should exchange for a size M loop instead.

I went with Medium and have the same wrist size. It fits the way I like it. I just went by looking up all my old size bands and rolling with that (i.e., old sports loops and sports bands). I like how the G hook is on the outside of the wrist and not on the bottom. Guess I’m just use to it from all my sports loops.

The 8 might be the worst yoy update to an Apple product ever. I recommend to my friends and family coming from a 3, 4, or 5 to grab a 7. Much better deal for the same watch (unless you really need the temperature sensor which really isn’t a temperature sensor lol)
Yes I know, but I wanted to trade in an S5 that was starting to have display burn in. Apple accepted the trade in, so it was the least cost option for me.

I was told in my local Apple Store that they could not separate out AW Ultra bands and watches for return purposes, even though they could with other watches. This arose when I returned a faulty-out-of-the-box Ultra and they at first thought they didn't have a same-band, like-for-like replacement still in stock. But they then found one, so all was good!

Just did a shadow boxing session with my Ultra and the Alpine loop, and it was absolutely useless. The weight and bulk of the watch had it moving around a lot, even with a tight band.

I had to change back to my Series 8.

Something to think about if you are planning to solo just one watch and you do energetic exercise using your hands. No jokes please :p

Tmobile user and had a seamless transfer from my 6 to ultra cellular. It was so easy I didn’t even think about until I just read about others having issues.

10+ hours wearing the watch with ocean band and loving it. It doesn’t shift around, cause itching (I’m allergic to everything it seams), sweating is almost a nonissue (live in Florida), so light and so bright.

When I was boxing for fun workouts I wore my watch on my ankle, my trainer called me jailbird.

Ok — here are impressions from an extremely small wristed person -130, size one in solo loop. Is it big? Omg yes. Does it look silly on my wrist? Omg yes. Do I care? Hell no! The build quality, the screen brightness, the premium feel — awesome. Mostly I will wear this for sports etc and not as daily driver but even that is shifting for me. I’m hooked on the enormous screen (I’m coming from a 41).

Just over 24hrs with the Ultra and absolutely loving it and the things I was sceptical of are a distant memory and it might only have a 1.5% increased screen size but it feels and looks much bigger, especially in the fitness app with the displayed data.

Battery life is awesome (compared to previous AW’s) and the Ocean Band is a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be from promo pics.

Do you find rotating the top and bottom part of the strap fits differently? I tried both and I still find it a little hard for my hand to slip through

I love the Braided Solo Loop because it is so comfortable for all-day and all-night (sleep) wear. Here are photos of the Ultra with the 45mm Unity Band (the closest to black that Apple currently offers).
