Ultra with Ink Leather Link.

I quite like this colour combination, what do others think?

Also I have a 178mm wrist. I’d like some honest feedback if the watch looks too big on my wrist or whether it looks fine?

I ordered with an Alpine Green Loop but don’t think the Alpine strap looks great on me due to the lugs.

This looks awesome - that's the combo I would've gone with if I was getting the Ultra. My Ink Leather Link is arriving on Monday and I think it'll pair really nicely with my SS Graphite, too. :)

It looks big in the angled close up views because they exaggerate the size. The top down views are more representative, and I really don't think it looks disproportionally large on your wrist at all. Large, but not comically large. A good kind of large. Most important is what you think of it but I think it looks good.

the Alpine starlight can easily be my daily drive easy to dress up and not too loud - ordered just now

The Ocean banana will be my workout band

Thanks for the feedback! And the Ink Leather Link does indeed look lovely with SS Graphite, I can confirm :)

I have a 158mm wrist. Always went with smaller Apple Watch cause I felt it is the most versatile for me. Ordered the ultra cause I have aspirations of doing more adventures. It does feel heavy compared to my 41mm SS series 7. What are your thoughts on the size for me? Thanks

I think this looks good. I’d avoid straps with lugs based on your wrist size but think paired with this band it is a nice piece!

Thanks! I went with midnight ocean cause I felt I can use it for most things. Think the white and yellow colors of the ocean are great but don’t want to stand out too much with my wrist size.

Those of you with an ultra and keeping another Apple Watch. If you have cellular, which Watch are you keeping connected?
I’m keeping both connected. S7 at work and Ultra all other times. Cellular is invaluable to me at work bc I keep my phone in my locker so it doesn’t get damaged. Outside work I do a lot of running/hiking where I don’t want the 14 PM in my pocket.

Just over 24hrs with the Ultra and absolutely loving it and the things I was sceptical of are a distant memory and it might only have a 1.5% increased screen size but it feels and looks much bigger, especially in the fitness app with the displayed data.

Battery life is awesome (compared to previous AW’s) and the Ocean Band is a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be from promo pics.

I think it’s cool that you can wear the watch upside down and it reorients the screen for proper reading. 👍

Anyone else notice “marks” / “abrasions” on the edge of the their AW Ultras?

I think it looks great. Don’t return it!

I have a confession, I had no intentions of buying an Apple Watch because it looked bulky and ugly to my taste in pictures and videos. Went to the Apple Store out of curiosity, fell in love, ended up walking with one. It’s looks way nicer in person.

Edit : Updated a better picture. This thing looks amazing with all my bands, not pictured here , but man, I’m satisfied. I haven’t had an Apple Watch since the series 4. Glad I kept all my bands 😮‍💨
I had similar first impression when I unboxed it. Looks so much nicer in person. The marketing images don’t do the Watch or bands justice. If you’re on the fence def go to the store to see it in person.

I noticed that on several YouTube reviews during the closeup shots. You are talking about the marks on the thin antenna material, correct?

Yes spot on. Very odd, as I ordered two and the other does not have these marks. Certainly looks to be “Cellular Antennas” and now I’ve seen them I can’t unsee it. 😬

On a related note, how prone are the titanium Apple Watch models to scratches, marks, abrasions, etc? I’ve only ever owned the silver stainless steel and silver aluminum Apple watches. And this will be my first Apple Watch that I’ll be wearing without a “bumper” case or screen protector on it. I did get AppleCare+, but just wondering how susceptible the Ultra will be (titanium case and screen) to “normal” everyday wear and tear as I plan on wearing it almost 24/7 for health monitoring reasons. Also, I ordered the Alpine loop version. Is the band also covered under the AppleCare+ I purchased on the watch should the band itself have any major issues? And a totally non related question, is the fast charging feature on the Ultra (and Series 7 and up) accomplished using the charging puck that comes with those watches or something in the watches themselves? Reason I ask is the newest watch I own is a Series 6 and I still use my Series 2 charging puck with it. Wondering if I’ll need to use the charging puck that comes with the Ultra to take advantage of the fast charging thing…?

Checked out AWU yesterday to see if I wanted to keep my AWU trail loop order. (I do). I thought the watch itself looks great and love the flat screen and extra button. (I wish the orange button could be programmed to a watch face like a complication). I put my 44mm S6 beside it w/ each displaying the Infographic face and the AWU was visibly larger. It was also wickedly fast. Made my S6 look like a sloth.

I have 160mm wrists so up until now fit was a concern. My own “line in the sand” was whether the lugs extended off my wrists. Happy to say they stopped just short of that. Yes, it still looked too big, but now clownish. It’s still hot where I am so I could not give the watch the long sleeve test, which is as equally important as any other fit test. If I can’t button my shirt sleeves or push my sleeve up to see my watch it’s not practical for me.

Last the bands. I probably diverge in opinion from most here but the Alpine Loop band is awful. It’s too much work to hook it on and off. This might be desirable for a mountain climbing but much less so for daily use. Honestly, it’s on a level of butterfly keyboard design. Apple could have come up with a more thoughtful, less frustrating enclosure for climbing. I also wonder if we‘ll see a lot of Alpine bands failing in a few months because of the way the loops are pushed and pulled during the hook-in/out process.

Pretty much in line with everything that has been posted about the Alpine loop, though not yet an owner.

Have two watches I put on order for pickup today. One Alpine Loop, the other Midnight Ocean. I just didn't know which one I would want for myself.

I can't yet give a personal opinion on either band as I haven't tried either. Simply from the many comments I have read, it seems like if you are picking up a watch this weekend, the Ocean may be the better way to go.

The Alpine is growing on me, but I’m still looking to pickup a AWU with midnight Ocean instead. If one pops up for local pickup, I’ll return the AWU/Alpine. The Alpine is growing on me but, like you pointed out, it’s too fiddly on/off.

The S6, S7, S8 and Ultra all have the exact same CPU so speed should be the same.

Not sure on the first 2 questions but fast charging is thru the puck you got w your Ultra. You have to use at least a 20w adapter to get the fast charge.

I agree as you’ll have to see it in person to really appreciate it. I love mine. I was looking in the Apple Store at the bands and they had some ultra‘s next to the series 8 and I have to say the ultra looked really good

I had a Nike sports band fail on me after nine months when the magnets fell out. I called apple and sent them photos and they sent out a brand-new band. They told me not to bother to send the old one back.
I’ve never had a titanium watch before so I can’t really comment about scratches. I do know that titanium scratches easier than a stainless steel but if you look at some of the threads on here about the durability of titanium Apple watches. I don’t think the natural titanium silver is DLC coated. Some people say they scratch easy and some people say theirs are still mint after a year.
