I know this is not apples design language, had it 24 hours and it’s already scratched can’t use the crown they easily and screen has dirt between glass and case, this has to be the worst Apple product of all time for me, the only thing I like is the extra brightness
Oh wow.

You’re weird obsession with trying to downplay the ultra to make yourself feel better about returning it is kind of sad to watch.

Just return it and move on with your life because all the stupid stuff you have been saying is getting annoying.

I assume the dirt in between the glass and case would rinse out easily, or no?

Quick ride with the ultra. I lost 10% in 2:30h with AOD off and polar h10 chest strap

Wow. That would mean more than 24 hrs of GPS. That’s very good.

You can get bands on Amazon for a fraction of Apple’s absurd prices. I bought SEVERAL for under $20US.

You can get third-party bands for a fraction of Apple's absurd prices anywhere.

However, you always risk their long-term reliability. I have bought some from Ali Express and they broke within a month with no seller support. Most of the bands I have bought from Amazon have lasted, but I am careful about reading reviews before purchasing.

I thought this early on in the Apple Watch days. However, the locking lugs seemed really shaky and loose back then on Amazon bands. Maybe things have changed.

The price is absurd but after spending $800 + tax on a watch another $100 on an extra genuine band is noise level. We are already crazy. It’s to late to turn back now. 😂

Just my opinion though.

Here is the perfect example. This is $10 on Amazon

I just don't personally think it will be as durable as Apple's offering. Most aren't. However, if you wait a few weeks for reviews to start posting for this product you'll get a better idea before you purchase.

Also, Apple sometimes goes after any band vendor that makes a product that looks too much like their design. For example, it's hard to find the original sports bands with the single snap pin as Apple went after vendors that were replicating the design.

I absolutely love the way this thing looks and feels. To me this is the most attractive Apple Watch they have ever designed and it’s surprisingly lighter feeling and less bulky than I thought it would be when I first saw it.

Can’t wait to get all my watch faces dialed in for the aod since I came from a series 5 that didn’t have it.

The S6, S7, S8 and Ultra all have the exact same CPU so speed should be the same.

Fair point. I'm just going off my subjective perception, not unwinding a scientific test. I'm sure my S6 if full of cruft and whatever by now so that could be a factor. Could be my imagination too. But when I was swiping the UWB is felt almost too fast going page from page where my S6 had a perceptible lag. Maybe it's some other component that does that like a more responsive screen, I can't say. Sloth is, of course, hyperbole, but between the AWU and my S6 that's the easy comparison for me.

only downside to the ultra is the crown isn't as easy to use scrolling day to day but something will get used to. the fact it's 15:25 and i have 76% left is a massive improvement for me given how much usage mine gets. by now it would be on maybe 40%

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but one aspect that I really like is how much more noticeable the Taptic (haptic?) engine feels. I've had 5 Watches prior to this one (always steel or titanium) and I would miss notifications quite often. The tapping with the Ultra feels much stronger.

I agree with this. Possibly just a placebo effect, but the Ultra feels *smoother* in actions.

On a related note, how prone are the titanium Apple Watch models to scratches, marks, abrasions, etc? I’ve only ever owned the silver stainless steel and silver aluminum Apple watches.
Titanium is a soft metal. It will scratch/mark more easily than stainless steel. So closer to the aluminum owner experience vs the stainless steel experience.

I wouldn’t call that a perfect example. The lugs aren’t even the Ti color on the Ultra… but to each its own. If you are spending $800 on a watch and have reservations on spending $50 - $100 on a genuine band… then you probably shouldn’t be buying a $800 watch. I have never been left satisfied with an Amazon band. I stopped buying them in 2015/2016.

I’m keeping both connected. S7 at work and Ultra all other times. Cellular is invaluable to me at work bc I keep my phone in my locker so it doesn’t get damaged. Outside work I do a lot of running/hiking where I don’t want the 14 PM in my pocket.
Do you have two cellular watch lines on your carrier plan?
