And only a few reviewers like Ray from DCrainmaker can review AW ULTRA with real world testing scenarios or real marathons and triathlons, not some bunch of folks sitting in a studio 😄
yep, DC Rainmaker, Desfit and Quantified Scientist

They pushed out my watch by another week 🤨 If by chance they have one in stock at the like 5 apple stores around me I'll just cancel my current order

Do I train, yes. Do I cycle, yes. I hike and rock climb too. BUT - I'm still not wearing this watch for any of that 😆 It (slightly) different, and I want it - thats enough for me 🤷‍♂️

It seems to be the bands that are really what's delaying things. That's a shame for someone like me that couldn't care less about the band as I plan to swap it out with my Nike band as soon as it arrives. I know I'm dreaming, but I wish they'd offer the option to just buy the watch without the band. Instead, I have to pay the extra $100 for a band to resell at a loss.

mine still shows preparing for shipping but I got tracking thru UPS my choice. And on route to Louisville! Can’t wait for Friday

The all-new Apple Watch Ultra launches this Friday, but some customers who ordered the watch have seen their estimated delivery date pushed back by Apple. It's unclear how many customers are affected or what the reason for the delays is.

MacRumors has received emails from multiple readers with orders that have been delayed in the United States. In one case, an order estimated for delivery by September 29 is now expected to arrive by October 12, while another order with a September 29 to October 6 estimated delivery range was pushed back to October 4 to October 11.

Priced at $799, the Apple Watch Ultra has been available to pre-order since September 9. While not reflected on Apple's website yet, some orders have been marked as shipped via UPS's tracking tool, with U.S. shipments passing through Anchorage, Alaska and Louisville, Kentucky as usual on their way to their final destinations.

All configurations of the Apple Watch Ultra include a natural-colored titanium case and cellular connectivity. The only customizable aspect is the band, with options including the Alpine Loop, Trail Loop, and Ocean Band in three colors each.

Inspired by the "most extreme activities" like hiking and scuba diving, the Apple Watch Ultra features a rugged design with a 49mm titanium case, a larger display with a flat sapphire crystal cover, new bands designed for the outdoors, water resistance up to a depth of 100 meters, a customizable bright orange "Action" button, up to 60 hours of battery life with an upcoming low power mode, dual-frequency GPS support, and more.

Initially scheduled 9/28-10/3, now pushed a week (as late as 10/11). I have the Orange Alpine Loop band.

Fair on the case. the others are directly related to the size...like gps signals and battery life.
Yeah, I just edited the post for clarification on that point. I absolutely would have preordered the s8 45mm in titanium, that had been my plan for the last year. Apple kinda threw that plan off by making the only titanium model the Ultra. :)

I wouldn't order until I've seen a few independent reviews
I agree with this, but I ordered the watch to get in the queue and then I will cancel the order if I feel it’s not up to par. That way, I’m not sitting with a November to December ship date.

My orange Alpine band watch had the exact same ship dates as yours and also pushed to October 4 through the 11th

Well dang I was hoping to possibly pick up an alpine strap I store on Friday if they get any in but knowing there’s a delay now that probably won’t happen

This happened to me, my order with the orange alpine loop got moved to oct4 to oct 11, from sept 29 to sept 6.

We’ve had a few delays here in Australia—mostly with third-party services, but also Apple directly, due to (A) the National Day of Mourning for the late-Sovereign; and (B) the AFL Grand Final, which is a public holiday in Victoria. Given those Thurs/Friday dates are now locked out, everyone I know (myself included) whose ordered Ultra are now seeing 29 Sept., at the earliest, for delivery.

The display is only negligibly larger than the 45mm case height Series 7/8 — 1.8% larger by area, to be exact.

It's just that the device itself is so much larger. If you're buying it under the expectation that it's a screen size jump akin to 41mm-to-45mm, you're in for a major letdown.

I’m not.

Reason 4: bigger battery
