Agreed. I'll probably burn through the batter the first week, because I'll be futzing around with the thing all day, but then I'll settle in and likely use it relatively sparingly.

Just came across this little sentence at the bottom of their website:

"A 42mm Apple Watch typically experiences longer battery life."

where do I sign?

I'd imagine that it would be negligible. The size of the Apple Watch at 38mm is one of the things I like about it.

I have owned a Pebble and I also really don't get the "well I don't have to charge my Pebble every night" argument. Not once did I wear my Pebble while sleeping so I would always charge it on my nightstand every night. As long as the battery lasts a whole day who cares!? Also in my experience the Pebble is plagued by disconnect issues and ultimately hampered by its inability to connect to iOS as the Apple Watch will.

Exactly my thoughts. I bought the Pebble a year ago as an experiment to see if smart watches worked for me. The concept works for me, but my Pebble had connection issues, and I also charged it every night. It was a good experiment, but I can't imagine choosing it over the Apple Watch, money not withstanding.

The Pebble certainly is NOT "hampered by its inability to connect to iOS "

I have had my Pebble Steel for exactly one week now. I connect it every morning to my iPhone 6 (at around 7am) and then disconnect it at 6pm when I get home from work (I only wear it at work so I don't miss notifications whilst working), and not ONCE, has it disconnected on its own. Perhaps you guys have faulty Pebbles.

Also - its just not necessary to charge it EVERY night. I gave my new Pebble its first initial charge on Saturday - played around with it for a while and then turned it off until Monday morning when I headed out to work. Today (Friday), my Pebble is STILL going strong on its first charge - the battery is showing 70%. 18 hours battery time for the Apple Watch? - Don't make me laugh

..pfft.

Don't get too excited - you'll probably ONLY get an extra hour!!!!!

Think it will be the battery life that does it for me, will get the pebble till the apple watch gets a decent battery life, could be second or even third generation.

As good (or not) as the Pebble is as a piece of hardware its software integration will just never really cut it due to iOS restrictions.

I'm fine with this. I don't need to be texting on the watch, I just want to see what's coming in and if it needs immediate attention or not. I have the pebble steel and its greatly decreased my phone usage (Good thing).

My battery is also better on my iPhone 6 because I'm simply turning it on less.

I'll see how the 2nd gen apple watch is. I would like at least 2 days of battery life. I get about 5 days on the pebble steel.

We don't. You'll see.

Fortunately jailbreak can be an option for me and smartwatch + is pretty great. I am locked in for a pebble time at the early bird $160, and probably will stick to that until 2nd or 3rd gen :apple:watch.

....DAM IT :eek: Had my first disconnection today.

My Pebble hadn't notified me at all today (a little strange) so just checked my iPhone 6 and there were 3 notifications sitting on the lock screen so I immediately wondered why my Pebble had not notified me (the Pebble showed "No Notifications") of these?!

Looked under the Bluetooth connections of the phone and then discovered that one of the "LE" connections was not connected. And now it is FAILING to connect - EVERY TIME?!?! WTF?

How can this have worked 100% fine last week and now it won't connect back up?

Whats the point in wearing this thing if the connections do not stay active?:(

Told you. Pebble is unreliable garbage. Sell it, get Apple Watch next month.

:)

That's a little too much. I have the steel and its been smooth so far.

I would like an apple watch but the battery life and not always on display bother me.

maybe 2nd or 3rd gen.

Wow easy there, that's not the case for everyone.

I've had a Steel for 6 months and never had it drop connection with my iPhone 6. It's been solid the whole time, never had an issue. Prior to that, I used an original Pebble and it was solid too.

I'm planning on getting an Apple Watch Sport in space grey, and a Pebble Time. Looking forward to comparing the two, and having the option to take a watch that'll last a week when I'm not going to be near any chargers.

Where are you going that you're not gonna be by a charger for a week? :)

That's not the point. The fact that I don't have to worry about charging another device for 5 days is great.

5 days is better then 1 day. No way of spinning that.

1 day of a reliable connection is better than 5 days of unreliability.

Those bezels are hideous. I also can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want a pebble steel for $300 when they could buy an apple watch for an extra 50 bucks.

I guess if you're looking for gold with the red leather band, the difference is quite a bit more!

But I completely agree. The :apple:Watch is expensive, but I've learned time and time again that you usually get what you pay for. (Still wish the black SS watch was available with something other than the link band! $$$$)

Like I said I haven't had any issues so I cant comment on that.

Also the apple watch is not out, so you have no idea how reliable it is.

You think that Cook would bring that thing to market if it didn't stay connected to the phone? Come on.

Exactly the reason I sold my Pebble. It just disconnected too much. I ended up just checking my phone for notifications because I couldn't rely on my Pebble anymore. Other than that, it something I used for games in my free time. Not exactly useful. Glad I got some money out of it.

Which games? :)

Most likely no, but you can never predict what may go wrong.

Not everyone has a bad experience with the pebble so.

Ill be waiting for the 2nd or 3rd gen Apple watch.
