Why, so you could buy a tripod to rest your arm on while you FaceTime from watch? No, just no.
One can argue about what is the point to have 3 cameras in modern iPhones and a Face ID/selfie cam, but some people still would like to see that feature. Imagine videocalling someone with watch on your wrist. Way better than having to take your phone out of the pocket each and every time

I can't even begin to imagine the privacy concerns that would raise…

Talk about stealth photography / filming.
Even the first Apple Watch was a concern that it can stealth record audio. And there were even few political scandals because of some audio leaked.

5x and 10x zoom cameras in modern smartphones are also problematic since those can be used to spy on people. Still, Apple goes where the money flows. If it would be the requested feature, they will probably add it

What are you talking about? There is a cellular version of the AW. I can leave my phone at home and still accept calls/messages/w/e.
It is esim only. I am talking about regular sim card slot like in all iPhones sold not in US

Sure, if you think they’d want to see up your nose I suppose. That’s a very unflattering angle. There’s a reason Dick Tracy didn’t have video calling on his watch. 😂

13mm equivalent lens and problem solved. The only issue would be distortion on the edges

I was considering getting a new Apple Watch, but all the upgrades seem a bit mediocre (from the rumours; we’ll see what gets announced).

As the article mentions, the upgrades are “modest”, and IMO don’t seem like they’d elevate the regular watch to approach the ultra.

But the ultra itself is getting an even more boring upgrade - a new chip and that’s all.

It’s similar to the iPhones where it appears next year will be when they make bigger changes. It’s disappointing that Apple doesn’t seem to have any exciting products this year.

I'm really not sure if they're going to disappoint or suprise us with the Series X. I just don't know what to expect. The leaks have said it's going to be boring, but they gotta do something special for its tenth anniversary

Or are they going to troll us and say "actually the tenth anniversary of the Apple Watch is 2015 as it only launched that year"

Yes, I know. Imagine how much valuable space a physical sim would take up in an AW? What's wrong with eSim?
You cannot just throwaway esim and get a new one, or when you need to swap it into another device you need to visit carrier. As for the valuable space – if they wished to find that space, they would have done it already.

Again, normal micro or mini sim would never happen in Apple Watch since they already removed sims from US iPhones, so I don’t have any illusions about that

I really hope they don't call it Apple Watch X this time around. Any association with the “X” name is a brand risk, sadly.

You can just call your carrier, you don't have to physically go anywhere. And yes — since  did away with physical sims in US phones, I wouldn't hold thy breath.

It's a watch. How much change can really be made design-wise? I'm completely fine with them releasing an Apple Watch X this year with a slightly larger screen and a few new features. It doesn't need to be a completely new design in order to be an anniversary edition. I'm still using my Series 4 that I've had since release in 2018 and surprisingly, the battery still has 95% maximum capacity. I've been wanting to upgrade, but have been holding out for the X. Since at least the screen is getting bigger, I'll be upgrading this year regardless, but I'm still hoping for the X.

Are you expecting an era-defining Apple Watch X? Let us know in the comments.
I'd be thrilled to see some really interesting changes to the Apple Watch, but I gotta be honest... I don't know what exciting new features they could add to the "standard" Apple Watch that doesn't already exist in the Ultra. 😅
