I would like to see Apple enter the health ring market. My wife really likes her oura, it's more accurate for sleep and basal temp than AW, and the charge lasts much longer. It's also easier to sleep with due to low profile. It has a subscription though, and an Apple ring could work without one like Samsung's galaxy ring. If anything, you could have more complex health sensing in the ring, and treat the watch as an interface for it, in addition to what it offers now. Apple wins by selling two devices.

I can't even begin to imagine the privacy concerns that would raise…

Talk about stealth photography / filming.
We all carry phones that can film at any time. Adding a camera to a watch (not a good idea for other reasons)doesn’t suddenly change the game.

These more square Apple Watch renders make the entire thing look like the Huawei Fit Watch 3 something something.

Im really hoping they do something special design wise for Series X. Thinner is a must. But I’d like to see them change it up a bit more. Make the display with zero black border and curve to the edge so that full color watch faces meet the watch material. Make it look more elegant and less like a gadget.

Keep the bulkier athletic gadget aesthetic for the Ultra.

The timing is just too perfect for them not to pitch this as the "10th anniversary" Apple Watch. It needn't be a radical redesign to still be the biggest evolution of the Watch's design so far. Given the rumors about a slimmer case and significantly larger displays (hopefully in a similar case width/height as older models), this will be a definite "next-gen" design. While previous design tweaks led to 1-2mm size increases, this upcoming jump of 4mm will be dramatic by comparison. I expect it will still look similar to existing Apple Watches, but with more significant evolution and refinement than we usually see between generations.

I really want to ditch my 5 for something new as the battery has degraded quite a bit but so far anything rumoured/leaked isn’t on the level the always on display was.

The only reason so far is for the new WatchOS and I hope Apple isn’t just banking on that. That’d be quite upsetting.

Don't even no anymore what version I have now but definitely in for an update. Don't care if it is called X or 10. As long as it has some of the Extreme features without the bulk. Larger screen, more nits, better gps and the action button would be cool!

I recently went from a 5 to a 9. It's much nicer. Better screen, faster. The 10 (X) should be even better.

The reason it will be a ‘new’ design (that will be v similar to the last 4 yrs) is the market, Apple has thee best smart watch (performance, ecosystem and services), there are a few competitors like Garmin, Whoop etc that focus on the health & performance aspect, that Apple is slowly implementing, so if you are top of the pile, and sales are good there is less motivation to keep raising the bar, i would hope there are more software performance metrics on the new watches but not holding out hope as the last 5 iterations are practically the same

Hm, interesting, I'm S6 & 14PM, I wonder what the issue might be. Who's your carrier?

Doesn't it depends on the carrier setup too? (Whether the phone has to be turned on).
AT&T which right now is having massive outages at the moment, my cellular has been switching from no service to SOS so that’s settles the whole debacle LOL

I'm on T-M, so I don't suppose there should be drastic differences. Also, I'm assuming the situation you described didn't just happen. Perhaps it may be worth brining this up with AT&T?

Why fix what’s not broken? Never understood this take especially with the iPhone
Your AW is probably not broken.

( so keep it as it is - I kept my series 4 for six years to date without any need to replace it )

For me a new one should definitely have a different (= thinner ) design. I disliked the 11 mm thickness from day one and actually I always hated watches to start with. But the AW 4 brought so much useful features as a SmartPhone Backup and payment device that it made it into my daily life for six years in a row.

I do hope for a more elegant design staying square and being 2 .. 3 mm thinner. One day battery life as today is fine with me. My AW 4 still lasts for a long business travel day - that’s enough for my use cases.

The current AW is not broken - it’s the SW that needs more horsepower and probably more storage. 128 GB would be fine for the important music on the go.

just my 2 ct

Why, so you could buy a tripod to rest your arm on while you FaceTime from watch? No, just no.
If Facetime is the only thing that comes to your limited mind, when you read the word camera, then I am happy that you're not a part of Apple's engineering team.

I am talking about a camera either in a band or on the top edge of the watch, that would allow to take pictures and videos without iPhone. This was requested by customers since the introduction of the first Apple Watch. See Wristcam prototype and many others.

Everyone is sitting in front of you in train, bus, park, metro, airport etc., holding the phone in front of their faces and having all cameras pointed at you. They watch something, read something and you have no indicators, if they record or not.

And if I want to record a secret audio or video of someone, there are billions of smaller devices than apple watch since early 2000s.

What’s the point? A camera that small would absolutely suck anyway, and that still looks incredibly awkward to try and use

Wow. Crazy to see that it's been 10 years since the first AW. I had an AW2 and then sold it after some months. I went back to traditional watches since then. But a month ago I bought the AW Series 9 and its quite nice.

Time sure flies!
