Apple is currently experiencing issues with its weather data provider, leaving many users unable to see live weather forecasts for selected regions in the Weather app.

The issue appears to be affecting many users across the globe, with Weather apps on several Apple platforms impacted, including iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and macOS.

Apple is currently trying to resolve an issue with its Weather service, according to its System Status webpage, although the issue summary only lists next-hour precipitation as unavailable for Alaska "due to a data provider outage," when in fact numerous regions and forecast types are down.

Apple says the issue affecting "some users" began some five hours ago as of writing and is "ongoing," although some iPhone users are reporting that they have had intermittent issues with Weather apps since the iOS 16.4 update was released a week ago. We'll update this story when the problem is reported as resolved.

It is not first time. Weather.app works terribly since months on iPhone or AppleWatch. It is new "normal" that data for weather loads few minutes.

This has been happening for ages. The rainfall map often also has a complete dead spot just in my area, you can see the clouds moving across adjacent areas and then there's a clear rectangle as it passes over where I am and then re-appears the other side. 🤷‍♂️
That’s not what this issue is that is being reported.

Lots of bad / cached info this morning (Tuesday):
  1. My iPad confidently showed me Sunday morning‘s weather for several minutes (wet and windy).
  2. iPhone showed me yesterday evenings weather (overcast) also for a full minute.
  3. Only my watch got it right.

Well, I’m assuming my watch is right.

All on 16.4

This is why I don’t use many of the Apple apps. To Apple it is just another app in their stable of apps and may not receive priority in fixing. A third party app, it is their business to fix issues as quick as possible.

I had this issue a couple days ago. It lasted for maybe an hour. No problems since then.

Edit: I just checked again and it was slow to load the weather but did after about 10 seconds.

This has been driving me crazy. The flip side is that I decided to throw down on Hello Weather. It’s pretty decent and at least works all the time. Carrot Weather seems ok too, but expensive. Really miss Dark Sky. Wish Apple could just get their **** together. Wonder if they’ve been too cheap with their weather data sources or access providing/hosting. Something has been seriously off.

Yep, not working here in Ireland either! If apple are going to buy dark sky and then kill it at least keep the app running!! Never had this with dark sky!
Ireland is easy. You’ll have a cloudy overcast with some spots of rain at 15 ish degrees Celsius. As always. 😄

Hmm - I saw this issue even before iOS 16.4
I thought my network were wrongly setup because this issue started on WiFi only. Then it starts even on cellular.

Having similar issues. Turned on locations services [while using app] and suddenly getting temps again. Don't recall turning off location services for the app. And not sure why it needs location services in order to report data for specified locations, but worked.
