Apple is currently experiencing issues with its weather data provider, leaving many users unable to see live weather information and forecasts for regions in the Weather app.

The issue appears to be affecting many users across the globe, with Weather apps on several Apple platforms impacted, including iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and macOS.

Apple is currently trying to resolve an issue with its Weather service according to its System Status webpage, although the issue summary only lists next-hour precipitation as unavailable for Alaska "due to a data provider outage," when in fact numerous regions and forecast types are down.

Apple says the issue affecting "some users" began around five hours ago as of writing and is "ongoing," although some iPhone users are reporting that they have had intermittent issues with Weather data since the iOS 16.4 update was released a week ago. We'll update this story when the problem is reported as resolved.

Apart from that, the app has been very inaccurate ever since they bought Dark Cloud and closed it 😏

Yes we have no weather here in Virginia today 🎵Also Weathertron app hasn’t worked for at least a week and is stuck at “loading loading loading“ so leads me to speculate online weather data sources are an issue, NOAA? NWS?

This has been an on and off problem for 2-3 months now. I live in the Midwest and it has been an issue of late with our crazy weather.

The Weather app hasn’t worked correctly for a long time.
It says 0% Chance of Rain when everybody else says there’s a high chance of rain. The Precipitación chart has been flat for days.

Apple are laying off and losing the wrong people, it's been like this with various things since IOS 16, they need to get people back into the offices and working, instead of pretending to be working at home 😏
Better still, recruit better programmers and get rid of the riff raff, which Apple is full of now 😡

In my experience the weather app shows a wider variety of information since the Dark Sky acquisition but it’s frequently incorrect or slow to load. The widget and the app often show information from hours or even days ago.

It could have been great but it feels like it is getting worse and worse.
I wrote to Apple 6 months ago, telling them how poor & inaccurate the app has become, up until 2 years ago, it was 99% accurate and I don't remember any outages....this is their response 😡

I’ve been having problems with the Apple weather app for the past two days. It’s unfortunate that they bought out Dark Sky just to kill it off. That was a great weather app.

I’ve recently discovered WeaWow. And I love it. I’m fine with the layout of Apple Weather, but it has been problematic when loading. The maps haven’t worked for ages for me.

Weather app, despite being now like launched 10 times this morning, indicates no accessing of location (Northern Virginia) and thus no data even though prefs set to “always”. Weird and yet SF and Quebec are fine and full of info.
