Did you read his post? Just wondering. I'm grown up. I just don't see much of a constructive post there. If you see it differently, be my guest.

Honestly - first of all - all major recent Android phones have a ICS firmware ready - it is just due to the carriers to roll it out. Just FYI one excerpt from Samsung's website http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00046726&fm_seq=49755

Second Android behaves way better as iOS when syncing over multiple devices. Why? Because you have everything in the cloud. Sounds familiar, eh?

Actually Google had Documents, Calendars, Contacts and so on in the cloud for a long time. And interaction with a PC/Mac: What do you want more then direct access to the storage system via USB (which is not allowed on the iPhone)?

I think it's really comfortable to mount the SD drive and just copy folders to it. ;-)
Yeah, great, "recent phones". Thats exactly what I said. Contracts run 2 years, not everyone likes to change there handsets every 6months. I do not care who is responsable for delays, I, at the end of the line and the one paying the bill, is not getting the update.
And people with a 6month old phone that shipped already with outdated software when it was new, that now get 4.0 will hardly see 4.1.

About the cloud bussines, you do not use phones in corporate surroundings? I know. apple is pushing the cloud as well, but our bosses rather go back to local PDAs then sending company data and documents to google (or Apple)

Direct access to every file over a USB connection is great but would be compleatly useless for me. I would never find a selected file, where would I look? Also, are you saying that all I need is the Memory card of your phone and then I can see all your data on it? Can I pop this card into another Android phone and get a clone? Like, if your phone decides to pack on (can happen to any device, swimming pools are great for that) you recreate you phone in a replacement unit? Or over the cloud? I had that problem with my Defy several times (the thing breaks down all the time) and did not find a solution. The iPhone got changed from a 3GS to a 4GS and simply synced with my Laptop, I hat all my accounts, web history, Music, Photos, Videos, Apps (incl. data) ect and could continue where I left of with the 3GS. How do you do that with Android?

Btw, to send or receive Documents or any other data simply use ftp, wireless. No need for a USB cable.

Some more red meat

"Android devices have already been found to infringe 11 valid Apple and Microsoft patents"

http://www.fosspatents.com/2012/07/android-devices-have-already-been-found.html
And all of those patents are ridiculous.

"unlocking a device by performing gestures on an unlock image" (prior art)

"method, system, and graphical user interface for providing word recommendations" (autocorrect, prior art)

"list scrolling and document translation, scaling, and rotation on a touch-screen display" (overscroll bounce, not infringing in ICS and above)

"system and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data" (e.g. if you tap on a phone number in a text message, you call that number; prior art on desktop computers, not sure about mobile)

etc.

problem with floss is the guy is MS fanboy and paid off by MS. He has been more wrongs than I can count on anything dealing with Android.

This guy said Android and Google were screwed dealing with the Oricale case and kept saying it as things degraded for Oricale. End result is Google paid Zero and Oricale has to pay Google's legal fees.

How is that related to the article?

Again, Nike got the term "air" protected for a portable computing device?

If not, no dice.

Has Apple his rectangle protected on a potable computer device?

If yes, Samsung got a problem.

Since Apple didn't invent the cell phone, I doubt that they have any legal claims to owning the rectangle. Ditto for portable computing devices.

Save your breath, friend. Like most people blathering on and on across the Internet about patents, he doesn't understand what you just told him, that patents are applicable to categories of products in specific markets. If he truly doesn't understand the different between shoes and mobile tech devices, he's not worth your effort.

First of all, a lot of that list of patents are not Android related, are implementations done by OEM's and not part of Android so no, is not Android.

And, second, most of them are still on trial.

Mueller has been spreading FUD and maximizing anything against Google/Android and minimizing anything against all the others because he being paid by Oracle and Microsoft.

Strawman. Sports shoes vs. computers. Completely different markets. No way that Nike would sue, and no way that they wouldn't be laughed out of court if they did.
I wish it was that simple. Just look at how many companies Monster Cable sued over the use of the word Monster. Hint, transmission, mini-golf courses, and a movie were involved. Nike isn't silly to do such a thing, unlike Monster Cable was/is.

Tell that to Apple about the lawsuits they lost against Apple records. And since you're of such superior wisdom than I, please explain the suing over a rectangular shape.

http://www.fosspatents.com/2012/07/samsungs-public-statements-contradict.html

"Since it took so long for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to be banned, the economic benefit of the injunction to Apple is very limited. The court is well aware of that fact. Tellingly, it required a 35 times higher bond for its more recent injunction against the Galaxy Nexus, a considerably newer product. And should Apple request and win a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy S III, the amount will likely be even greater."

Since the trial will start this month Apple may try to get a temporary injunction or just wait for trial.

But with the Galaxy S III on the radar for exclusion and damages claims, and considering the sheer number of these devices being sold and activated, it appears the time is neigh.

Rocketman

Then why did for example Nintendo had to rename Star Fox to Starwing in Europe because there already was a danish vacuum cleaner named Star Fox?

wouldn't that be the difference between trademarks and patents?

What's the point of that post anyway. Come fall your iPhone 4S will be outdated as is your iPhone4 right now. Your iPhone4 is not able to use Siri just because Apple decided to. So what was your point again?

Nope I don't. And I think that's a special usage case. Though I think Androids locking down mechanisms are far more superior to Apple's offerings.

So you never used a USB drive? No HDD or thumb drive? O.K., Pictures are in the camera folder, Documents in the Document folder and so on. It's not exactly rocket science.

Yes - basically if I dont lock down my SD-Card, then you can have a look at all those files. Yes, I can pop this into any Android device and if I activate it with the same Google account I may use everything on this SD.
