I know that. ICS is both for tablets and phones. But, when you use ICS for tablets, it's tablet friendly, and when you use ICS for phones, it's phone friendly.

That's what I meant.

Where as, iOS is for Tablets and Phones, but it's not tablet friendly.

Look, forget it. It was the plan all along to merge the tablet and phone side in ICS into a single OS with 2 different UI layers depending on the device. This was announced at the same time Honeycomb was presented as a "tablet only" OS.

Don't bother arguing about Android with people who obviously don't follow its development. They are just trying to derail the thread. Notice how they aren't even discussing the topic anymore. Don't get sucked into it.

So when you say there's one version for tablets and one version for phones, you meant there's not one version for tablets and one version for phones? Gotcha...

No, I mean that ICS on phones and tablets don't look the same.

ICS on a tablet:

ICS is different on both.

ICS is different on both.

I still don't get what your point is. How exactly is iOS on the iPad not "tablet friendly"?

One version of ICS man. You misspoke.

Safari Mobile is different on both

And yes, I'm pretty sure you talked about ICS have a different version for tablet and smartphone, just like GingerBread and Honeycomb were, but now fused into one single flag of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Wow. Didn't think the Apple h8rs would be so sensitive about being called out on the over-exposure of Samsung! lol.

How do I call you two Geniuses out as trolls without getting voted off the island?

Actually, you'd just look foolish. Anyone with any knowledge or appreciation of graphic design can see that the inordinately large Samsung logo looks out of place and is distracting. I would never have imagined that my observation would elicit such emotional responses (thus, by definition, it can't be trolling). Perhaps those of you who would be offended by a smaller Samsung logo should consider the source of your insecurity.

It appears that MacRumors is using equivalent logo image height, rather than square area.

Perhaps you would share your thoughts on what you might think to be a more equitable graphical logo presentation strategy. After all, you are a famous animated sleuthing canine.

Equitable or not, a more appropriate schema would be to present the logos proportionately with their size on similar sized Apple and Samsung products (i.e. an iPhone and a Samsung Phone). As presented, such an application would cause the Samsung logo to stretch from edge to edge on a phone (if it would even fit).

OK, if they make them the same width then it's going to be ridiculously disproportionately smaller then the Apple logo.

Why in the world would you make them the same width? Do you have any concept of proportion? Go ahead and look it up. I'll wait.

Did you just call TMar an Apple h8er ? Wow. That guy is very often pro-Apple in these threads.

Seriously, this "fanboy" and "hater" stuff needs to stop. People can't even make the difference anymore and all legitimate posters that are neither haters nor fanboys get called out as either/or depending on what they post.

Folks, realise there is such a thing as "Neutral" or "Agnostic" in the grand scheme of the Apple world. There's quite a bunch of us, the majority here in fact, who use and like Apple products but will sometimes criticize Apple and praise the competition and vice versa.

I agree, I am one of those people who love Apple products, but criticize Apple. I dislike their fanboys who don't know much about the competition. :p

Yes, that was a bit tongue-in-cheek. I have no idea if those posters are h8rs or fanbois. I was just responding to the unusually derisive comments that my OP got, when I merely stated that the disproportionately large Samsung logo looked "ridiculous". I made no particular judgement or defense of Apple or Samsung, yet was called a "troll" and worse. I would have made the same comment if I saw a small Ferrari prancing horse next to a huge Ford emblem - it just looks weird. Your second comment about getting called out (I guess as a "fanboi"?) is what happened to me, which was undeserved.

I agree, I am one of those people who love Apple products, but criticize Apple. I dislike their fanboys who don't know much about the competition. :p

What I notice is that the people that say they love "Apple products but criticize apple" insult me by calling me a fanboy and assuming I know nothing about Apple's competitors. It as though if you disagree with them, you are a fanboy and therefore incapable of rational thought.

Though nobody has been able to refute what I say about the competition. They just start pulling out the name calling. What I can say without any hesitation is if Apple had not produced the iPhone, Android would look like Blackberry, because they were the model to beat. And just as many people said Apple would fail without a keyboard or with a phone made of glass or without flash or without "real" multitasking or with a closed AppStore or by charging too much to developers.

In each instance, the detractors have been proven wrong. Apple is doing just fine. Now they go off on Apple defending its IP or defending itself from lawsuits. Google would love to have Apple abandon its IP.

And now the Windroidsungs will attack me, but will they counter the facts?

I agree, I am one of those people who love Apple products, but criticize Apple. I dislike their fanboys who don't know much about the competition. :p

You don't know everything either, and it's normal to not know everything. Being a fanboy is relativity, a PC/Android fanboy also don't really interested in Apple's world either, so pretty much they know a little about Apple too.
And that makes them "don't know much about the competition."

Being a hater = fanboy of another. And there is no difference in both.

But it does speak volumes about how these boards have become.
If you do not worship at the church of Apple you are not branded as an Apple Hater.

You proved that even more so in your attack on the guy.

I know a lot about tech, Apple, Microsoft, Google, etc.

Though nobody has been able to refute what I say about the competition.

It's not that we're not able, it's that we're getting tired of doing it for every schmoe who joins and spreads the same misinformation over and over again. I can pretty much assure you you were wrong when you tried to say Android was a copy of iOS, but frankly, I'm tired of posting why it's wrong with evidence using links, images, etc...

It's never over. So I just decided to call it quits.

You're saying the only reason iPads and iPhones are popular is because of marketing?

It's a lost case arguing with you then, I won't even try.

...depends on who's definition of marketing you wish to apply, really.

----------

For years Microsoft tried to put a Desktop OS on to a phone and tablet. Their awesome efforts resulted in scraping their interface. Hahahaha...

Apple understood that they had to design an interface specifically for a tablet. But, but tablets existed before an iPad. They were so awesome and so plentiful that Apple couldn't come along and destroy them in a minuscule amount of time... oh wait... they did...

1) And with w8, they seem to have finally succeeded. Strange feeling, huh?
2) How is any of the above relevant for the WM6-WP7 transition? And how will it be relevant for the WP7-W(P)8 transition (in which the CE-kernel will "be no longer").

That said, i disagree with your main point. To me, Apple haven't designed a tablet interface at all - something that becomes ever more so evident i see my girlfriend playing around with its iPad. Is it that big of a deal? Not yet, and not really. Could it be better? Most definitely.

(Not saying its bad, just saying its nothing special. It works, but thats about it).

This is what people were subjected to before an iPad. Hahaha...

It was? That was out in 2003. (Thats a tablet with a keyboard cover, running on 8-16h battery life. Thing on the right? Trackpad).

Don't like the buttons on the rim? Here you go: Electrovaya Scribbler.

Not in your taste? How about this:
i215_front.jpg

As for the name? Yeah, they called it that... not sure when they switched over, but it was apparently called that in 2005.

Not sure when name switched. This model was known as the Sahara i213 (2003-2004 or so).

Prefer black?

and.. yeah, if you want to spice things up... plenty of colorful bumpers to choose from.

Yeah, so? Did any of that crap actually sell well? Newsflash... they didn't. That's why Microsoft had to redesign their tablet interface.

----------

I'm pretty sure it's way more durable than the iPad can ever dream.

So? Should I post a picture of a Panasonic Toughbook with a touchscreen that is more durable than any of the POSes posted above?

I like how the argument is changed from there was nothing with a design like the iPad to they didn't sell well when the first claim is debunked.

You obviously miss the point. Go back and read thenerdal's statements about the iPad.

thenerdal said:
Apple did not understand nothing about being tablet friendly because iPad uses the same OS that the iPhone uses and that is not tablet friendly.

Apple made something a lot of people want to buy. Microsoft didn't.

I didn't change the argument. Go back and read my posts in this thread. Only in your feeble mind do those tablets share the iPad's design.

Stop moving goalposts. You laughed at a picture of a ruggedized tablet, poking fun at the way in which B.J. (before Jobs) we were stuck ugly crap. I showed this was not the case.

Did it sell well? Everything is relative. If the iPad had the price tag these devices had, it wouldn't have sold well either... and, had the iPad been launched in 2003, it surely would have.

----------

You obviously miss the point. Go back and read thenerdal's statements about the iPad.

I did, and just did it again. You are right though, i must be missing the point - cause i see none that is even remotely relevant. Care to elaborate?

By that logic, Apple doesn't get computers. Most people, and businesses, buy windows computers.

When you loos argument do you insult?

And then someone will say that only fandroid insult.

Well, so Judge Kohl in USA has a feeble mind when she thinks the design patent for the iPad is likely invalid because there where tablets with a design like it before the iPad was released.

There is no room for independent thought in some of these folks' minds. Do you really think that LTD and others like him are capable of rational thinking?

Case in point. In my den, I have a Mac Pro. At my Business, I have 3 Mac Pros. In my "Budget Man Cave" (I'm real proud of my NEW personal hangout and will do a video of it soon :) ) I have an G5 iMac., Intel Mac Mini, Power Mac G5 2.3, an iBook being used as a Print Server, an HP Laser Jet P1106, a HP Deskjet 9800, a TV with a Roku and FTA Satellite receiver, a Linux Server (Ubuntu 11), HF Kenwood Ham Receiver, a Yaesu 220 MHZ UHF HT, and a Sofa Bed. I have an iPad, 2 iPhones, and an iPod Nano.

Obviously the fact that I have a Non Apple Server and a Roku instead of an Apple TV is proof to some around here that I am an "Apple Hater" who has nothing to contribute to this forum.....

And this is exactly the mindset of the LTD's of the world - - - - I would say the term "fanboy" fits them quite well..

Yeah, right. Don't try to say sales are relative. They didn't sell well at all.

Hahaha... stop trying to put words in my mouth. We are taking about iPads. I know many people that want MacBook Pros, but don't want to pay the price. Yeah, Apple makes laptops people want, but they are out of the price range of many/some people.
