Unless they use different components, this should have been routine testing of thier tolerances

I also noticed my screen was not responsive when I was trying to use my phone with my car keys in the same hand. Had a remote key lock on it too of course.

As if something like issues with hard shifting in some cold weather or starter not always working right away haven't really been affecting some cars here and there through decades of all kinds of manufacturers and models. And recalls or TSBs would get issued to resolve those types of things. Reality of the auto industry since basically always.

Please give an example of a car with inginiton on, becoming unresponsive while driving due to cold . A brand new car ..... ;)

We are not talking about tuning the phone on here.....it's on....
[doublepost=1510295356][/doublepost]I'm going to try my X out his morning, nice and cold in London.

We are talking about analogies not equivalencies (and a car turning off in the middle of it being on wouldn't be the same level of issue of a phone temporarily not responding well to touch).

That said, there have certainly been recalls on cars where ignition would suddenly die.

So if your 100000$ car stopped working in cold weather, that would be OK?

Sure the car may have issues, but the steering wheel and brakes shouldn't stop working because of a bug

Jeez Louise they’re aware of the issue and a fix is coming. Apple isn’t perfect nor is any other company.

It’s an annoying bug, BUT life goes on. They have a return policy for a reason. Competition exists for a reason.

Even with an anology , equivalency is most relevant.

Cause .... I consider my touch screen to be equivalent to a steering in a car analogy....

Please quote an example of a brand new model released , in its first week failing ignition due to weather.

Look , who cares, i know we will never talk actual facts.... next time my car has a fault , I can use Apple as an example that other industries also have issue ;)

In all fairness - as we joke in the Development industry , thank god us developers don't build bridges or cars :p

The tolerances and testing in cars is really thorough as people's lives are at stake , and there is not over the air patch to fix bugs .

In software , we ship unfinished first versions of software that have some ....bad bugs.... we than spend x release fixing them.

It's a very different mindset , and very different consequence , hence why car analogies and phones don't really work..... and nope , iPhone is no Ferrari :p

How about an acknowledgement that the speakerphone is horrendous and rattle like there’s no tomorrow above 70%. All iPhone 10 I’ve had in hand exhibit the same issue.

Speakerphone on my iPhone X sounds really good and I don’t have any rattle. However, I did have an issue similar to this with my iPhone 6S Plus. It would also rattle like crazy when it vibrated. Turned out the vibration motor was loose and rattled.

Sadly that's what happens to beta hardware. Other bugs like this one will emerge over time…

Oops, forgot to test it in the cold?? Haha!

IF YOU HAVE THIS ISSUE, TAKE A MINUTE AND REPORT IT TO APPLE.

They don't know how big a problem is unless they get reports of it. The more the better. Don't rely on someone else to do it for you. The more that report it, the larger of an issue they will see it is and the faster they'll fix it.
Apple already addressed it and is working on a fix. Read the title of this discussion.

Always amazes me when diehard iPhone users have issues and don't bother bringing it up in order to protect Apple's reputation. It always seems to take regular phone users to start the complaints because they couldn't care less how negative it looks for Apple. When Apple finally acknowledge the particular issue, only then, do the loyal followers come out and admit they too have been having issues. The X has been nothing but a mess of issues. Smh.

I'm waiting for Consumer Reports to weigh in and everyone here ridicule them.

Unlike any other iPhones, this one has been a delayed botch after botch.

This site ignores it mostly as this is a fan site.

I live in Finland and here is cold (-30-5°C) about 6 to 7 months in a year.
I actually live in Finland and this claim is a joke. More like 2-3 months a year. The quote doesn’t hold true even in the most northern parts of the country where barely anyone lives at all.

Please, no coldgate posts.. New hardware, you have to expect bugs..

I will admit, these are the sort of things that totally puzzle me, esp from a company as large as Apple.
Let's try our new phone in a range of temperatures that customers from all around the world are likely to experience is not exactly a tricky rare bug to find.
It's one of the items that would on "Page 1" of any check list.

One of those, if you press the calculator buttons fast enough in a specific order something goes wrong issues, then sure, you can understand why that and things like that would often be missed, and only found when it got into the hands of the mass public.

But, will it work in the cold, it pretty dam basic a thing to have on your check list.

As with many items you buy, there could/should even be a range of temps in the specs.
Like say -20'C to +50'C ambient temperature range

Wouldn't have happened if Jobs was still here. Apple is becoming so slack these days!
Yeah, it's not like phones and computers and software had issues when he was around. Everything was just perfect and forums like this one basically didn't have anyone complaining about anything at all.
