If you buy Apple care + with loss coverage then you can loss phone replace up to 2 times a year with a down payment.
I never get any apple care until I have my kids slam my iphones on the window... Get it the next day replaced and go on my way.
Yes that is how it used to work
Guess apple saying screw the express replacements now - let the people wait - apple business picture getting worse every yr

Even offered to take a black one - which they have in stock - NO I WAS TOLD- as to be exact replacement as my blue on / joke

I hope it speeds up for you, its a month later after they went on sale, so shouldn't need to get a replacement from the overseas factory for service (8 to 14 days), perhaps calling Apple again and advising them nicely of a unusually long wait with plenty of local store stock in stores is warranted. Maybe someone can accelerate this for you.

I have called every other day since oct 10-talked to senior advisors -same story and told today another 8-14 days just insane
And stores will not swap out for retail unit even though they have stock
Have to take from express replacement basket - which is non exsistant
Sounds like the express replacement units are on a slow boat from china
Sad how apple has deteriorated

Likely against policy as they don't want people deliberately breaking their phones to get a new color.

they cant tell me what the fee is going to be though. so two incidents of replacements but how much will that cost me???

i called bc of battery issue, they say they wont replace until its under 80.. its been stuck at 81 for months.

so if i instead set my phone on a park bench and walk away, it seems loke that would be the fastest way to a replacement under 'loss and theft' BUT what they described as the process sounds horrible, and with no idea what the cost will be.

so despite having full coverage, my best bet is to thrash my battery until i get to 79. stupid.

Somtimes we forget what it was like before Apple Care. Remember Asurion? They would give you the CLNR (Certified Like New Replacement). It was never "like new." They were scuffed and scratched to hell, the touchscreens rarely worked, etc. I once got a Droid X replacement that was sticky for some reason. Ewww. No thanks. I would happily wait for my Apple Care replacement, even if it took longer than an Asurion swap.

Ii have been calling apple support everyday - no help
Even emailed tim - no response - too busy cashing his apple stock in- lol
Sad
Sorry I find that hard to believe. AppleCare plus has advanced exchange. If they’re denying you then you don’t have AppleCare +. The other poster even shared the screenshot of rights available under Apolecare+

Recieved my iphone 16 plus- on oct 8 my iphone slipped out of my pocket while on my harley- opened express replacement on line as when i went to store - no replacements in stock. So have not recieved express replacement yet, and today they tell me another 8-14 days - lol.

We are actively dealing with the same thing. Also ultramarine. It has been 13 days so far since a claim was filed.

You said Apple Care is now a joke and it’s time to get off the hamster wheel. If you don’t like the service and don’t want to wait, then backup your words with actions. Either you meant what you said or you just created a thread with a lot of words you didn’t mean.
I agree here. We all want to complain but we keep giving Tim our money. I would love to get out of the ecosystem. Other than the iPhone and iPad - which I just cannot get rid of. But the AppleCare+ is an add on that makes Apple money. But then when accidents happen, you’re glad you had it. So it’s all a contradiction.

Scrap off AppleCare and buy a decent case, I’ve never smashed an iPhone and drop mine all the time.
I dropped my 15 Pro
max at least ten to twelve times on concrete without a case and it didn’t have a scratch on it - until I was working on a tire and used the flashlight on the iPhone to set the jackstand in place then forgot before lowering the car on it. Definitely an accident no case would have protected anyways. I don’t see the value in cases and hate the screen protectors. The screen protectors always make it seem like the phone is cheap and the display is farther away from what I am touching.

Go commando! Especially if you’re buying AppleCare+.

It’s not apples fault you broke your phone…
But is Apple's fault for holding everything up over color.

I can understand Apple only swapping same-for-same specs wise, i.e. so you don't get certain people thinking they'll get their 128 replaced by a 512.

In a case like this Apple should offer something like "We can get you a black one, and we'll throw in a $25 gift card for your troubles". Would be fair for everyone IMO.

yesterday i learned that apple is not involved in theft and loss coverage.

i was told i could not be quoted for device replacement if lost or stolen, i would need to contact AIG insurance
This is alarming to me. Was considering taking out theft and lost coverage before. Now I’m hesitating.

Seems like a supply issue of iPhone 16s, not a AC+ specific issue. You should be glad you bought it, at least you will gets replacement phone for the excess fee as soon as they are available. But u can always cancel for a full refund. It will be like you never bought it in the first place.

Exactly ,SIR!
and I do not want no gift card ,just a phone replaced , with the protection I paid for!

I can understand the frustration of not being able to get it replaced right away.
But why does everyone keep saying they’d had every iPhone since 3G?

That statement might add some weight in an Apple Store with a manager but why does it get thrown around in every post with a gripe?

Apple told me the entire process is handled by the third party company, and they described a claims process, one not unlike what you would incur when you are in a car accident.

AIG decides if your claim is valid (which takes time), and they decide what the fee is. I -thought- it was supposed to be $150 per incident, but Apple claimed they could not provide that figure because it may be different than that. I asked if it was possible the fee could be $500, the rep laughed and 'assured me' it would not be $500.

Then i asked, what about $300? can you assure me of that? and the laugh turned to a nervous gulp and a confirmation she could not assure me of any number. So I think I made my point.

She then explained after the claims process they would then have to ship your device, and they dont offer overnight options for replacements.

So yah, sounds like in a golden path scenario, your lookin at 5-10 biz days, maybe longer if hiccups along the way. Hell, maybe never if its deemed that your claim is rejected!

Im gonna cancel theft and loss.

i think because it implies theyve been paying for AppleCare on their devices for aaaagggesssssss. so, there is an expectation that when they walk in with an incident, they should expect premiere service with regard turn around time for a replacement device. After all they have effectively pre-purchased said device multiple times over times over.

In this case, if they dont have stock, they should be pulling the ones off the floor as a loaner. They should beg and negotiate in your favor to accept this option until your device is shipped with priority shipping. Perhaps they check another local store for you so it could be reserved and waiting at another location.

especially if the user has never even made a claim, or has a very low number of incidents vs time and device count. hell they could source your phone from a local retailer in order to go out of their way to replace your phone same day. i could imagine there are users that have applecare across a wide range of apple products paying hundreds of dollars a month for coverage and never have used a single incident.

when this user type of is in a desperate situation, and finally has a need to leverage the services AppleCare provides, finally requests service replacement of a device, wouldn't it be great if the response was dynamic and appropriately prioritized?

they have this data, so why dont they do this?

If you’re so desperate to get a replacement and don’t have a problem paying the deductible, why don’t you let your buttery fingers drop the phone and pay the $99 deductible for a replacement?

Assuming you’re in the USA of course.

Cuz it’s not a court trial and you’re not proving to anyone. If you don’t have your Apple account blacklisted for making false claims, you get treated the same as everyone else.
