i have only ever bought AppleCare a few times for different macs, I have never bought it for iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch/tv, I like the idea of it but it’s a large expense to add to the top price of apple gear. I am curious to see what the feeling is on the forum, do you buy it? Is it worth it? Does the price put you off? Do you buy it for all apple items? Interested to hear the feelings on if it is worth it and get an idea how well it sells.

I buy it, simply because of the cost of repair without it. I’d rather pay $99 than $549 to repair my iPhone X, and $49 to repair my iPad instead of whatever the OOW cost is. I haven’t had to use it yet, but it’s just nice to have the peace of mind where if you accidentally drop your device, you know you’re covered.

Some of it depends how long you plan to keep the device. I've only ever dropped one iPad in 8 years - and that was an iPad Mini 2 i bought in 2013 and dropped this summer...

Yeah, iPads I keep the longest. Mainly 2+ years before I consider upgrading.

I've never purchased AppleCare for any of my devices... and there has never been a situation where I could've used the "benefits" that AC offers. Over the years, given all of the Apple gear that I've purchased, I've saved well over $3000 by not purchasing AC.

But that is me, for others it may make sense based on THEIR personal history. My adult daughter drops her iPhone at least once per day, for her AC is a must.

Generally speaking, Apple customers are a fearful bunch. We buy devices, put screen protectors on them, cases to enclose them, extended warranties to cover damage. Apple LOVES those bending videos on YouTube because they encourage more customers to buy AC (offset by a handful that won't buy the device in the first place because of the videos)

I've never bought Apple Care for any of my devices. I typically take very good care of my stuff and have done just fine. If you are prone to drops or accidents, I would do it.

Accidental damage excess and less international hassle if you travel a lot are the only real use cases.

EU law covers most other things ... so it really depends on your use case.

Example - Years ago I was in US on holiday and had an issue with my iPad. I walked into an Apple Store, they swapped it and I was out soon after. I have a feeling it would have been more drawn out if I did not have AppleCare.

I bought it. But it is a choice. I use mine in environments that are not conducive to keeping it safe. So worth it to me.

This year has been the first time I ever bought AppleCare for an iPad. I just don’t trust this design, only purchased it due to the bending issue. I taking great care of this thing, but I’m human and not going to say that something won’t accidentally happen in the future. I’ve had a dozen iPads before this one and never purchased Apple care for them. Didn’t feel the need too.

I buy it for almost all Apple products I have and I've had to use it a few times...

  • I had an iMac a few years ago that blew a capacitor and filled the room with an acrid smell of burning electronics. New logic board was covered under AC.
  • My Apple Watch was replaced under AC accidental damage (for a small fee) when my cat decided to knock it off the kitchen counter causing the glass to break on the ceramic tile.
  • The Apple RAM was replaced under AC for my Mac Pro which was causing startup problems.
  • I had an iPhone replaced due to problems with the home button that stopped working.
  • My 2nd gen 12.9 iPad Pro was replaced under AC for frequent touchscreen unresponsiveness.

So yeah, I think it's worth it.

That's why the crazy price in the EU, the mandatory longer warranty has been priced in.

Last Friday I purchased from a Costa Rican Apple Retailer a new iPad 2018 128GB for $518 plus an extra $99 for similar plan like Apple Care+ here in the country of Costa Rica.

iPhone and Apple Watch I generally get AC+ since I take both devices everywhere with me. iPad and MacBook I do not get AC+ since those two typically stay at home.

I get Apple care+ for all my Apple Kit. I like the added assurance of protection on my devices, but in addition you also get very handy tech support. In addition you can transfer the remaining Apple Care with the device when you sell it. This helps you get a few more dollars when upgrading.

There is a convenience factor with AppleCare as you can walk in an Apple Store and walk out with a replacement device. What is the procedure for making a claim with CC coverage? I ask this sincerely as I don't know how it works.
I started having issues with my old phone after 20 months and then filed a claim with my CC and couple of weeks later they refund me the full amount on my CC. I was able to keep the phone too.

It's Apple's largest profit margin item. For most companies it is, the insurance packages.

It's a bad buy for consumers.

I haven’t purchased Apple Care since 2014 with when I got my new 5k iMac. Boy, am I glad I did with that because one of my RAM cards fried and took something else down with it also that sunk it into a continuing reboot. Trip to an Apple Store and not a dime paid. Couple months later back when Apple was still in the router game (RIP) my Time Capsule went down for the count. Turns out Apple Care on an iMac covers Apple networking devices also! 2 birds with one stone. Definitely got my money out of that Apple Care purchase!

As far as my Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad I have never purchased Apple Care. I don’t keep these devices nearly as long (upgrade pretty regularly) so I don’t see the benefit. I’ve never needed it. And I figure that after all these years I *would* have been paying for insurance, I can pay out of pocket to fix one device and still come out ahead!

There are people here who will call you stupid for not buying AC+, not me.

I do not buy and have not needed.
Clicking like on this one . . and just wanna say that others will post the same for buying AC.

I buy AC . . as I see it as optional additional insurance. Might be a bad buy for some, but the price isn't prohibitive for me given the convenience it brings for easier issue resolution. The answer is not a one-size-fits-all thing here . ..

This is the first year I have purchased AppleCare plus on my iPhone, watch, and iPad Pro. Ive never had it before, but since i can make monthly payments i decided to try it out. It’s not not worrying about wearing a case on my phone, or worrying about my devices as much.

idk, i dont buy ac for ipad, it has a history of being a pretty solid device unlike the recent versions of macbooks . no applecare on any of my ios devices, i do have applecare on my macbook pro thought, just incase it craps out after the first year with all the problems people are reporting with them .

if you have a history of breaking your stuff within the warranty period, i say get it . if you just keep your ipad in one spot or take care of your idevices, i say dont bother and save your money .

Well well well, I was debating to get it or not, finally pulled the trigger... four days later the thing falls down and has now a crack in its screen after just 15 days of ownership.
It’s a small crack so far but I know for sure optimism gonna exchange it sooner or later as my OCD can’t stand to watch this. Happy I got AC!
