I've had Intel MacBooks fail in all kinds of ways, and they would have been out of warranty. Had several cellular iPads with weird issues where they suddenly couldn't make any cellular connections at all anymore.I have always been and always will be a big advocate for AppleCare/+ etc. Saved me thousands over the years for sure. I'm not too keen on subscriptions in general but if I see value in something, then I'll consider subbing.
After switching my iPhone to AC1 from the monthly AppleCare+ plan, I was able to add my AC+ covered iPad Pro M4 and AirPods Pro 2. My other non AC+ devices (under 4 years old) also show as eligible.
However, my wife’s case is different. She has only one AC+ covered device (her AWH S7), and she can enroll in AC1 only through that AWH. Even though her other devices are eligible, she cannot enroll to AC1 with them. There is no link or button to activate from those devices.
In short: you can only switch or upgrade to AC1 if you already have at least one device covered by AppleCare/AppleCare+. Once you’re enrolled through that device, you can add your eligible devices. If this is wrong, please let me know.
Just curious, do you and your wife both have an individual Apple One subscription? This is our experience and is frankly quite odd.
I was able to sign up from an ineligible iPhone 12 by selecting my first device as a used M2 MBA that was just about to expire, bought by the original owner. I then added two Apple Watches, one Titanium and one Steel, neither had AppleCare extended past standard coverage.
The Mrs is not able to sign up from an eligible iPhone 13 because unless she selects a ceramic Apple Watch (already under cheaper warranty) other devices which are also eligible (but not currently covered) produce a ‘something went wrong’ error.
Again, this is all yesterday - after my eligibility list magically expanded later in the day. Seeing similar interesting twists and turns in this discussion…
lol right Apple just went from a company I generally trusted to one I have to think about before I buy something. Frankly it’s insultingFor just $72 a year I can cover the HomePod mini I bought for $85
I'll continue buying apple care on my apple silicon macbooks. I had my nearly $4k specced m4 max mbp start running at about 1/4th of the regular speed. Initially I thought I was having internet issues, then I ran some benchmarks... Things like browser bench that I expected a score of 38 - 45 were getting 7 - 9. My wife's M3 mba was getting around 25. After a complete restore from DFU mode the issue persisted. In the end Apple replaced the logic board and i never got an answer on what was actually the problem, but it would suck to get stuck with a m4 mbp that runs about as fast as an intel mac.I've had Intel MacBooks fail in all kinds of ways, and they would have been out of warranty. Had several cellular iPads with weird issues where they suddenly couldn't make any cellular connections at all anymore.
Surely came out way ahead until about sometime in 2019/20 or so.
After that, since the introduction of Apple Silicon, not a single failure with the exception of HomePods mini starting to talk to themselves and play music at max volume.
Still getting AppleCare for the peace of mind, not needing to hesitate to have something repaired, and the theft and loss protection where it applies.
Good grief, talk about an overreaction. You're insulted by an optional purchase that can actually save a lot of people money if they were using AppleCare already anyway?lol right Apple just went from a company I generally trusted to one I have to think about before I buy something. At least the employee warned you about what could happen. Amazon doesn’t give warnings. One day you try to buy something and find out.Apple has been doing the same to warn/ban people who abuses the return system for a while. I almost got myself permanently banned from Apple Store by just having my third return on MacBook Pro, two returns on iPhone and 3 returns on iPad Pro in just 2 years. Apple Store rep even warned me that I should keep existing device or they would take notes of my ID and report me for fraud.
same boat as well very confusingOn my iPhone 16 Pro Max, there is no sign of an offering of AppleCare One. I signed in online, and it says I have no eligible devices, despite having my iPhone 16 PM, an iPad Pro M4, and an Apple Watch that all have valid AppleCare+ plans.
WTH?
If you click on Add Devices it should show a list of eligible devices. Under that is a link you can click if some of your devices are missing. That shows you every other device and the reason it’s not eligibleMan, new day, still can’t add any second or third device. (Despite those devices being eligible.)
(Edit) ok the plot thickens:
When I signed up, it gave me a list of recommended devices. Those included my phone, my watch, my m4 iPad Pro I bought a little under a year ago. All of these devices are less than a year old and have been covered by AppleCare + since day 1.
When I go to a different screen it shows that list but both my Apple TVs have other text that say “Eligible” in orange print.
Are none of my other devices seriously eligible?! Especially odd as my iMac is on the plan now as device #1 and I’ve had that since 2021.
I’m so confused.
Honestly it’s hard for me to imagine that many returns. What was the cause?Apple has been doing the same to warn/ban people who abuses the return system for a while. I almost got myself permanently banned from Apple Store by just having my third return on MacBook Pro, two returns on iPhone and 3 returns on iPad Pro in just 2 years. Not disagreeing with you just add one more device tho. Just saying do you math it’s super easy to pay way more.Good grief, talk about an overreaction. You're insulted by an optional purchase that can actually save a lot of people money if they were using AppleCare already anyway?
For one, the insurance is totally optional as it always was.
Two, putting it on a homepod mini or airpods obvioubly doesn't make financial sense if you have more than 3 apple devices since pretty much all other devices cost more to cover.
But if I use the plan on my MB Pro M4, iPad Pro M4 and iPhone 16 Pro, it costs less to insure them than it did before.
I’ve checked a few times and I can’t add anything. My 16PM, nothing. I’m done trying.same problem yet their own news release says something about the 60 day thing, no longer being applicable. some say it worked for them, some say it doesn't (me included), apple says you only qualify if you had apple care, others say wait and it will work - complete cluster..
All my devices are listed. They are recommended, even. Just getting failure diwlogs to add them.If you click on Add Devices it should show a list of eligible devices. Under that is a link you can click if some of your devices are missing. That shows you every other device and the reason it’s not eligible
Good question. I noticed there were some serious changes to AppleCare+ offerings on new products yesterday. You can't get the upfront 2+ year AppleCare+ anymore.Just noticed. When did Apple stop regular Apple care +. Because of this ?
Ya. This must be the end game with changes in February and now. Sure Apple likes a new $20 month revenue stream.Wow. Now this move makes a lot more sense. Lol
