Apple's new M1 iMacs are available in a range of color options that include Blue, Green, Pink, Silver, Yellow, Orange, and Purple. The new machines feature vibrant colored backs with lighter colors for the chin and accompanying stand.

Apple is limiting color availability by price point. The entry-level $1,299 M1 iMac is available in Blue, Green, Pink and Silver, while the higher-end $1,499 and $1,699 options are available in all seven colors.

So if you want an iMac in Yellow, Orange, or Purple, you will need to shell out at least $1,499. It's also worth noting that Apple has not introduced any black or space gray versions of the new iMac.

What monitor do you use? I'd have a 5k 27" if I could justify one - a cheaper 4.5K 23.5" display would be nice. Let me guess you'll be happy with a 1080p TN screen $149 Dell?
You can have a 27 inch WQHD USB-C monitor with charging and hub for 300-400$.

I hope your livelihood doesn't depend on your psychich abilities.

Okay, this is friggin cool as heck. I've been wanting to see colors come back for so long. Enough sterile gray. But those specs...some of us need ALL the RAM. I have 64GB in my 2020 Intel iMac and I use it.

Why is the chin "terrible"? I'm surprised they didn't put an Apple logo on the chin, though.

It just looks ugly, and yes made worse by the lack of logo. But mostly I am confused by their choice of prioritising thinness over the design of the front of the iMac (i.e. what we spend most time looking at). And of course this choice also means the power supply is external to the iMac.

What no space gray iMac? o_O
My thought too. We don’t all want bright colours. Also more concerning, all colours have white surround to screen. I was pleased to see the back of white screen surrounds from iPhone and iPad - now Apple has put on iMac - not good!

Just relieved the new iPad Pro is still in space grey with black surround

Where's the /s (sarcasm) tag? You realize that the M1 is outperforming Intel processors for software that's recompiled for it, right?
I think the writer meant multicore performanc.
Why the pastel colors in the front? It would be great if we had bolder colors contrasting with a black frame like this:

Obviously because there’s no “pro” behind the product name. We haven’t seen any bigger iMac announcement today.

Really thinking I’ll go for a Mac mini at this point - have 2x 27” Dell U2721DEs (super thin bezels) mounted on a Dell MDA-20 dual monitor arm. PC uses 2x HDMI and Mac mini can use 2x USB-C. Not sure why this hadn’t struck me before.

Looks exelent! Not for my proffesional work (still waiting for Apple silicon Mac PRO)
But i will buy this for my mom. That's for sure. :apple:👍 She are on iMac 2008 model and deserves new one.❤️
(i wish they had 1 TB SSD, that's sad that we stuck at so low storage.
Knowing my mom she will fill up this SSD fast) 😁😅
They go up to 2 TB but very expensive.

With all our screaming at Apple to reduce the bezels, we forgot to tell them to keep them black. Here’s hoping the bigger iMac will come in space grey with black bezels. Otherwise I’ll wait for the updated 16” MBP.
I kinda like the white bezels, they are not as harch as black and the anodised frames are all light and bright colors so I think it’s a better fit. Besides, it wouldn’t be a new design if it looked like the previous iteration.

Just looking at the side profile, I thought wouldn’t it be interesting to pull the stand off the new iMac and design a folding cover / stand to allow the iMac to become a 24” portable computer?

The flat design really makes it possible to have it be more portable than any previous design.

Sorry, but how can you defend an external power supply on a 24" machine? This isn't a micro-computer.
What’s to “defend”? I just said that lots of desktops ship with external power supplies. That’s factual.

I am underwhelmed. But then I am not interested in an entry level functionality and performance. It costs me nothing to keep my 2012 iMac a year or two longer while Parallels gets their act together with running Windows on
Apple silicon And Apple can come up with more compelling Apple Silicon above the entry level
