1) you're not funny... not even a teeny bit
2) you didn't give any indication (smiley/sarcasm tag/etc.)
3) so don't pretend like your "clever little joke" went over someone's head, when what ACTUALLY happened is you said something tactless, lame, boring, trite, old, annoying, repetitive, played out, nonsensical, and stupid (whether it is said "in jest" or not)
4) consider a moratorium on the "if Steve we're alive" comments. They were funny exactly ZERO times. Literally no one wants to hear it anymore. Nobody here knew him, so we can't say it & mean it... & saying it and not meaning it, is simply disrespectful remembrance of a man. Let the dead lie, ffs.

Did someone steal your sippy cup of Apple juice?

Since I'm in a yearly upgrade cycle, this might be a good one to give an Android phone a try.
My Absolute favorite Android to date is my Nexus 6P. I've been enjoying it's smooth, fast, trouble free performance for months now.

Oh sure, my iPhone 6S Plus is nice, but I truly prefer the larger 5.7" Nexus display in a beautiful aluminum body that's the same width and thickness as my iPhone with its smaller 5.5" display. At just 1mm taller, the Nexus is very comfortable with its ergonomically shaped back that's not slippery like the flat slab shape of iPhone.

The Pure Android v6.x.x OS is beautiful and very nice to setup to your liking. Being free to arrange icons either on the right or left, top or bottom of the display is a huge advantage over Apple's insistence that they control your layout.

Now that Android Apple Apps are equal or better than iOS apps, there's never been a better time to enjoy the fresh, fun and fast Nexus 6P.

Besides, proof positive that the Nexus 6P is a stellar smartphone, is to read the posts sprinkled across this forum from those claiming to own one, and how horrible it was.

A fantastic deal at just $488.

As someone who was going to upgrade from a 5s, I'm now happy to wait another year - as usual...

I have a 5s but I can't take it anymore. The Music app runs like crap, the battery life is mediocre at best, and I think I want a bigger screen.

I will be upgrading this year; only question is whether it'll be a 6s or a 7. Apple will have to make a compelling reason for me to go with the 7; especially if they kill off the headphone jack.

OK, as the phone provider for the entire family I say this;

1- Removing the headphone Jack abandons $1,200 worth of Bose noise cancelling headphones, don't talk to me about stupid adapters, We want to listen and charge at the same time. We have Podcasters who like external Mics, that would be abandoned, I have other tools like wind meters that would be useless.

2- We put two of our phones on Apples new pay plan, pay monthly for 2 years, get a new phone after year 1. This means that we are now likely skip the new phone and that just seems convenient for Apple. For now, no further phones will be put on Apple plans.

3- For the first time I'm researching leaving Apple for all of our phones. Innovation, yeah, right.
Any innovations that you happen to like so far in your search?

First now one knows what really Apple it's going to add to the iPhone 7, these are only rumors. Can't people wait to see what happens in September stopped whining already, you don't like the iPhone anymore go ahead and get a Samsung. I will make my choice when the phone its reveal too the public. In the meantime I still loved my iPhone 6 and I think it's a great phone.

Well, this is Macrumors so rumors are bound to be plentiful to placate our feeding frenzy ;-)

Cheers !

So in other words, the iPhone 7 is really just an "S" version of the iPhone 6S.

I'm not sure what Apple is thinking. I understand the significance of the 10 year anniversary and of course they will want to release something special to go along with it but as an iPhone 6 owner who was planning to upgrade this year, these rumors make me want to stick with my current phone.

The whole purpose of being on the non S cycle is to get a redesigned phone. Its bad enough that they are breaking that trend, but what's worse is that the iPhone 7 doesn't seem to have any features that are worth upgrading for. So far, the rumored feature are:

1. No more ugly antenna bands (sounds great but most people keep their phones in a case anyways)

2. No more headphone jack (not really a feature at all, more like a downgrade. Looking forward to seeing how Apple sells this to people).

3. A10 processor (sounds great but let's be honest, the iPhone 6S and even the iPhone 6 are still very fast phones. More power always sounds good on paper but we have approached a point where higher specs do not have such a big effect in real world use).

4. Better camera (there is always room for improvement but let's be realistic about it, the iPhone 6S already has a pretty fantastic camera. A new camera would be nice but i doubt it will be dramatically better than the 12mp shooter we have now).

Compare these rumored features with those of the iPhone 8 (OLED screen, no joke button, full redesign) and it seems like a no brainier to skip the 7 and stick it out another year. Hopefully Apple shows something convincing.

Yes, I am because I appreciate every second of my time and take full advantage of the CPU & GPU capabilities of these phones.

I saved more time not taking the time to upgrade to the 6S and restoring all my apps+data then you've saved with the incremental CPU upgrade, that you're desperately trying to pass off as innovative.

Why buy such a powerful phone if you are not going to max out its capabilities?

Do you buy 16 Core Xeon processors to use 10% of it? There are some AMAZING games on the App store that easily take full advantage of the GPU & CPU.

I have an app that is able to doo real time fft analysis while already using 30% of the CPU. The cpu difference is easily noticeable just from App Loading.

No, YOU are the one with the wrong device if you are not using it to its fullest capabilities.

EDIT: Even on a very basic level you can see a difference in loading times of apps:

Now imagine doing more with your phone and the difference the CPU makes.
Also 3D touch was a big + and from iOS10 we can see them starting to take more advantage of it.

LOL Slow sales?

iPhone sale GROWTH has slowed and had a slight decline, yes but not slow overall sales. And there are so many other factors that attribute the slow growth in sales that 'lack' of innovation has hardly much to do with it.

Either way I could care less, I will continue to upgrade my phone as long as Apple continues to innovate on their CPU & GP

Yes, I am because I appreciate every second of my time and take full advantage of the CPU & GPU capabilities of these phones.

If my requirement is CPU / GPU performance on a product, that rules most Apple products out, the second, GPU, is mediocre at best.

I'm in the process of adding a egpu solution to my apple products to correct this issue.

Though I understand where you are coming from, at least the iPhone competes very well on the CPU/GPU side.

No but they can. Did you know get what I was saying? This year we'll see, effectively an iPhone 6ss while next year, we'll see a WHOLE new iPhone. OLED display (possibly curved), embedded Touch ID, true wireless charging etc.
Calling it now-iPhone 6SE. ;)

Oh look. Someone else telling us what we know/many others have told us already. It's pretty obvious why Apple aren't making major changes this year with the iPhone 7, if you don't know, well, I'll give you a hint, it's something to do with the 10th anniversary of the iPhone.

Who cares about an anniversary? Meanwhile, do we celebrate how the 9th year anniversary update isn't worth bothering with if you own a 6/6s?

Not thin enough for me!

Ha! This. What was that bending issue a while back? It was "Ass-Gate" or something. Are the thinner designs getting around the skinny jeans problem? Waiting. I'm not a man-o-flab, but I put a dent in things with my hip-bone before...

A lot of people are talking about the 10th year anniversary. And yes, I can already picture the scene, Tim walks on the stage, shows the slide with the original iPhone and then says: "this year we're taking the biggest leap since the original iPhone" like he did in 2014.
But who cares about an anniversary? Customers are going to buy a great product whether is the 9th, 10th or 11th anniversary of the original iPhone.
If the rumours are true, and at this point of the year we usually have a pretty good idea about the new iPhone, next release will be a bit disappointing (although I'm confident they'll show something cool about the camera).
But this has nothing to do with the anniversary. They may shift to a 3 years cycle, and if that happens on the 10th anniversary it's just a coincidence.
They introduced the update program so people will be able to change their phone every year, even some carriers offer the same possibility, and if you have that chance it doesn't matter if you don't see a big improvement every other year, you get used to have the latest and greatest so they don't need to entice you with a new design.

"We now give you our most amazing iPhone ever! The 6SS and 6SS+"

Well my Contract is up in September and currently it looks like my wallet will be firmly closed. I am just clinging on to that just perhaps they really did double down on security andwe are about to get something incredible... If not that is OK as I want a new HTC Vive...

I dont understand why everyone mostly Apple are so focused on how thin the iPhone is. The 6 and 6 Plus are too thin to really hold. So thin that they break when dropped once and thus needs exterior casing making them THICKER than the competition. I know of NO ONE carrying an iPhone the way it was designed. Everyone has big cases either for battery power or protection. Which makes them look ugly. So Apple is doing all they can to design the thinnest device possible only to have the users wrap their design into fat protection cases making the phone thicker and bigger than phones 10 years older. Ridiculous.

I have never even considered any other product since the past 25 years than Apple. This year I am probably going to buy the Samsung G7 Edge which is in every possible regard (Aside from the beauty of the Operating System Eye Candy) superior to the iPhone.

Apple is not inventing no more. They are copying. In 2 years Someone from Apple will go in stage and present the iPhone 9 with a unique selling point of being water proof and state that it is new. This company is missing its founder so BADLY !!!

How is Apple going to spin off removing the headphone jack as positive? They can't. Even sheep and fanboys know that this is stupid.

My guess is that they'll roll out higher bitrate or even higher resolution audio, name it something fancy like they did with "retina" screens, and then convince people that this audio can only be transferred via Lightning cable.

Unlike the move to 300ppi screens, most people would not be able to hear a difference in audio resolution (especially not with the packed-in headphones). Connecting the headphones in a new way will add to the placebo effect that an upgrade has occurred.

In reality, even the highest resolution audio can be carried via 3.5mm and using external DACs via Lightning can be done on current iPhones today.... So Apple will really have to convince people through marketing that they invented a better mousetrap... Sadly, Apple is very good at doing just that.

hope wireless earbuds are included...only way they'll be able to save face if they're killing the option to listen and charge at the same time.

Adapter.

So then this will be the iPhone 6 SS. iPhone 7 will be next year.

Well, I am no "fanboy" nor am I a "sheep", but I will not miss the jack. I´ll buy an adapter and when it comes to buying a new headset it will be one with Lightning. There was the day we left floppy disks behind, now it is the jack.

awesome, saves me the money. at this point i dont even care about hardware specs, smartphones are "smart" and "fast" enough as it is and iOS 10 doesnt seem to introduce anything major that may slow down my iPhone 6 unless Apple does it on purpose. May sound shallow but at this point i just want an actual redesign, especially in this price category. I am not spending over 800 Euro on the same phone again. Oh well, maybe next year
Mainly you are right but If there are features which we don´t know yet, I could change my mind. I´ll grab a Telekom Premieren Ticket--> Keynote--> decision. I`ve got to use a case anyway.
