I’ve been looking for this exact comment since those rumors about X Plus started. And I simply cannot believe that you are the only person I’ve seen who did it.

Seriously, what is happening to people’s taste? Why does no one accept that something that is TOO BIG exists and yes, this is it?!
You’re kidding, right?

So help me understand this: they need to use cheaper parts like an LCD screen instead of OLED and an aluminium frame instead of steel to offer a slightly cheaper phone when the phone markup is like 50%, the design will be a year old and Apple is massively profitable with an ever growing hoard, paying hardly any tax?

Seems to me they’re simply extorting the customer. They can afford to offer the latest technology and premium components for what are still very premium-priced phones at a price that is more affordable without having to use lesser components. I think people are increasingly seeing Apple as simply greedy.
There’s no helping you. You don’t want to understand.

I can't believe these morons are going to bring out the iPhone X plus the size of the iPhone 8 plus. Instead of just giving us the SCREEN SIZE of the iPhone 8 plus in a smaller body (bezel-less). Nobody enjoys carrying around a phone that large!!!! It's been the only complaint of the plus size phones for 3 generations... we love the screen size... we hate the big bulky phone. How is this not completely obvious to anyone with half a brain cell?
There was a cool song that came out when "antennagagate" was a thing.... a simple change of a few words and it fits your future dilemma.... If you don't want an iPhone x plus (don't buy it) if you bought one and you don't like it (bring it back)..... I didn't get the X for this specific reason... I LOVE huge phones and was just waiting for them to make a bigger version. To each their own I say..... I know you're going to say why do the best parts go in the bigger phones.....Who knows?? I buy the big phones so honestly I don't care. If they put the best in the smaller phones I can honestly say I don't think it would bother me but I'll probably never need to find out.... as I buy the bigger phones ;)

Sooo their is absolutely no reason to change from the iPhone X to the iPhone 11 then?
Unless they drop the 11’s price.

As for a phone for every pocket? Erm no, I don’t consider a 6.1” pocketable really. The X is though.

I’m sure plenty in here will go mad and throw what ever Apple asks for the Plus model, even if it’s more then an Apple computer!
“As for a phone for every pocket” is called a straw man argument.

Dual sim but no microSD slot? Gotta get that premium storage upcharge I guess.
No floppy disc either. Go figure.

Nah fam, I'd rather it be blank all the way across the top. Having those corners looks horrible.

Only in your head, which I guess is OK...

No floppy disc either. Go figure.

Your analogy would only work if MicroSD was an obsolete storage medium. But considering the majority of popular Android phones and tablets have the option to add a MicroSD card, not to mention the myriad of other devices that utilize MicroSD for storage, would indicate that its a healthy and viable medium.

Dual SIM is very interesting.

Dual SIM is the intelligence test. Not going to happen. Bogus information here. If you swallow the dual SIM story, you're hooked and will believe ANYTHING you're told. And will help these analysts manipulate the stock price, whatever they they say.

I've been waiting for a long time for a form factor upgrade to my 6Plus and we might eventually get there. Smaller, lighter, bigger screen is what I'm after. Glass coffin won't be lighter, and the 6Plus is already too heavy for its own good (more cracked screens than ever because of the weight 'of the fall'). I'm 2/3 of the way there. Now if they get serious about the notch and just move the sensor assembly to the top of the device and not the middle of the screen… there's a chance the franken-screen proportions of X-like phones won't deter me…

Too bad it's a fake 6.5" with the notch and probably only have 5.8" of usable full video.

I find quotes like this detract from the overall effect of the article.

“Apple is said to be aiming to offer "a model for everyone" to rekindle iPhone sales after iPhone X sales came in lower than analyst expectations last quarter. ”

Regardless of sales, these models were being designed and production planned long before any sales data were in. It is disengenuos to assert these models were designed to “rekindle” anything. It is simply poor journalism and the writer and editors should know better.

Perhaps less poor journalism, than being complicit in the analyst's attempt at market manipulation, but thank-you for bringing some sanity to the discussion.

Don't tell me it's going to take 2 years from when they announced the Mac Pro until it ships! Everyone read 'not this year' and immediately pronounced 2018 for the Mac Pro…

All Apple's decisions are made years ahead of delivery (that's how Samsung knows what Apple's doing, they ordered the X screen 2 years before it shipped). And far from customer expectations, they're usually technical… Could they do a calibrated OLED in the big size? Probably not, so we had to wait a year for the Plus size. About the only time Apple ever did what the customers want, was in making the Plus sized phones in the first place… Schiller's email revealed Apple completely missed that one… and it took 2 years to bring them to market.

Dual SIMs support is at the top of my list for sure but it is very not Apple-like and I don’t see this happening. Yes, one SIM and one e-SIM sounds more like what Apple is trying to do.

My guess is this:

IPhone 6.1 = A11 processor, 3GB RAM, LCD 2048x1536 screen res, everything as X (2017) version, aluminum back, 64gb and 256gb storage sizes, $799 and $949 price points

IPhone 5.8 (2018) = A12, 4GB RAM, OLED, 2436x1125 screen res, glass back, faster charging, improved image stabilization with better low light, lower aperture, improved 4k slow mo, improved animoji’s and life like avatars, improved stage lighting photos, facedID improvement, 128GB and 512GB storage sizes, $999 and $1149 price points

IPhone 6.5 = A12, 4GB RAM, OLED 2688x1242 screen res, glass back, faster charging, improved image stabilization with better low light, lower aperture, improved 4k slow mo, improved animoji’s and life like avatars, improved stage lighting photos, facedID improvement, 128GB and 512GB storage sizes, $1149 and $1299 price points

Apple sold more iPhones in the last quarter plus one week then they ever have in history. Calling to DOA is hysterical

If the OS hasn't changed drastically then this thing is DOA. There needs to be major software enhancements before I'll touch any new iPhone.

Yeah the vast majority of people have no idea what you’re talking about and if they did could care less

Any mention of 10-bit extended color space capture in the original article, via BGR10A2Unorm ???

If NOT, then it's DOA !

The market isn't gonna wait another year for Apple and/or Samsung !

What has been Off the Radar of most, will soon be smack in the middle !

That's what happens when the entire world becomes Sheep !

Can't wait for E-SIM to be implemented on the iPhone. Being stuck with removable pieces of plastic in 2018 is mind boggling.
The "removable" piece of plastic, is your go-anywhere passport and your freedom. Not a burden.
