Apple's history is divided into two. Steve is alive and Steve is dead.

And here's the thing... the only real history is "Steve is alive" because the "Steve is dead" portion is full of people who are SO SURE that Steve would do X or Y thing differently if he was alive and we have NO clue what he would have done.

This was the man who told us all we were holding our phones wrong and people accepted it. He wasn't perfect. I mean, I'm a big fan of his, but he was not perfect.

Let's stop pretending he was and if he was around, Apple would be better. He nearly ran Apple into the ground at one point. He was hardly flawless.

“Bezel-less” for a reason. Like current X I’m sure it will just be the black OLED screen (which looks way better imo)

I kinda hope the gold is that bronzier finish we saw in early leaks though
Yes! I agree about the bronze option with the peach/pink glass back! Let me tell you this though, I purchased a white bezel template glass for my silver iPhone X and let me tell you it looks nice! The only issue is that it doesn’t actually cover the entire front of the phone so you will see the outer edges of the black bezel. To remedy this I purchased I rose gold case to cover up those outer edges and man with the the rose gold case, white bezel front, and the iOS white theme it looks fantastic! If anything maybe the upcoming silver and space grey iPhone X plus will come with black bezels and the new gold finish will come with a white front. If it does, you know which one I will click to pre order come pre order night lol!

Steve's minimalist approach no longer exists. This design and the changes in iOS are Apple's new commercial concept. nobody is perfect.

I think the thing with Steve was that he had the cahoonas to not go down the profiteering route to appease Wall Street. Broadly I don't think his continued presence would have seen a huge amount of difference to where we are today, but I think there would be a lot of little annoyances he wouldn't have allowed to happen - like not being able to plug your new iPhone into your new MacBook straight out of the box without an additional purchase adapter, removing the charging extension cable from the box and charging extra for it, still offering machines with 4th and 5th gen chips just to try and herd people further up the pricing ladder.

Apple was an innovator before, now its features are copied.

I’m in. This is why i skipped out x 1.0...going for this..bigger size.

Me too, except I’m waiting for a smaller X. It doesn’t need to be iPhone SE-sized, but a bit smaller would be nice.

True. There is literally nothing of value on the X I cannot do on my iPhone 6. I only updated to the iPhone 7 Plus at the time cuz I wanted a bigger screen. Like what are you going to do differently on the X right now besides a different method to unlock. Back to the same Apps I have been using on my 6 just a little faster

Unless the phone supports split screen apps, the current X, and even the current iPhone 8, don’t provide much benefit over my iPhone SE. None, in fact, when it relates to the screen and what I can do or see.

This is particularly true of the iPhone 6s, 7, and 8, which don’t offer much more resolution (not in length or width, and certainly not enough to display much more content) that enables me to see more on-screen, and yet the battery life is worse?

Apple I'm ready for the X plus in OLED board with my 265 GB X already and I like the Gold color this I phone every year plan rocks.

Pentile is a response to the fact RGB oleds colour shift over time as the blue diodes wear out more quickly than green or red ones - so if you normalise them again you'll just run back into that problem. Management of the effect is getting better but it still isn't there yet (which is why pentile still exists - it's fixing a problem which currently has no other solution).
Using White OLED is also a solution to the same problem. It requires separate color filters and so takes a brightness hit. Pentile is not the only solution, merely a solution.

Apple in 2018 will release three new iPhones, according to a report shared by Bloomberg this morning. The three devices, as we've heard before, will include an upgraded version of the iPhone X, "the largest iPhone ever" with a screen size close to 6.5 inches, and a third less expensive model.

Apple is said to be aiming to offer "a model for everyone" to rekindle iPhone sales after iPhone X sales came in lower than analyst expectations last quarter.

Bloomberg's report confirms details we've been hearing from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who often shares accurate insight into Apple's plans. Kuo has said for months now that Apple is working on a second-generation 5.8-inch OLED iPhone, a larger 6.5-inch OLED iPhone that can be thought of as an "iPhone X Plus," and a lower-cost 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display.

While the 6.1-inch iPhone will feature a lower price tag, Kuo (and now Bloomberg) say all three devices will feature Face ID. The three devices will also feature edge-to-edge displays with the exception a notch on the front of each device that will house the TrueDepth camera system.

The two higher-end devices will use A12 processors and will feature stainless steel edges, and at least one model could be available in gold, a color Apple is said to be considering adding. As for the lower-cost model, it will feature aluminum edges to keep costs down. Like the two higher-end models, it will feature a glass back for wireless charging.

For the larger iPhone model, Apple is said to be considering implementing a dual-SIM feature that would make it easier for people to switch carriers when traveling, but Bloomberg says it's not yet clear if the company will implement the feature.Apple's largest iPhone, which will measure in at 6.5 inches, is code named "D33." According to Bloomberg, some prototypes of this device feature a screen resolution of 1242 x 2688. Kuo has previously said the device will feature 480 to 500 pixels per inch, similar to the new 5.8-inch model, codenamed "D32."

Our first look at what could be the display for Apple's larger 6.5-inch iPhone leaked over the weekend, allegedly sourced from an LG Display plant in Vietnam. Apple is rumored to be sourcing displays for the larger 6.5-inch iPhone from LG, so the leak is potentially accurate.

As you might expect, the display component and digitizer looks a lot like an iPhone X display, only larger. The cutout at the top for the TrueDepth camera is visible, but little else can be gleaned from the image.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is already running production tests with suppliers, and so we could start seeing a significant pickup in part leaks in the near future.

I for one am looking forward to larger iPhones. I would rather have an iPhone the size of an iPad mini 4. As a matter of fact, I don't know why Apple or any other tablet and smartphone manufacture make any distinction between tablets and smartphones.
Of course I would think it is ridiculous to hold a tablet to your head to have a phone conversation, but that is why they invented Wired and Wireless headsets.
I never hold a phone to my head any way.
Further, I carry an iPhone and an iPad at the same time.
Why can't I carry ONE device the size of an iPad AND be able to use it
as an iPhone?
There is a growing trend in China to do just that.
Of course nothing is to stop Apple from making the "normal" size phones, so
if you don't want a Phablet, don't buy one.
But I have Bad vision, so I absolutely have to have a larger screen device.

. Nobody enjoys carrying around a phone that large!!!!
You are incorrect.
It just so happens I want an iPhone the size of an iPad mini 4.

I can't believe these morons are going to bring out the iPhone X plus the size of the iPhone 8 plus. Instead of just giving us the SCREEN SIZE of the iPhone 8 plus in a smaller body (bezel-less). Nobody enjoys carrying around a phone that large!!!! It's been the only complaint of the plus size phones for 3 generations... we love the screen size... we hate the big bulky phone. How is this not completely obvious to anyone with half a brain cell?

I agree 100% but isn't that already what the iPhone X is? (Pretty much) If they do what you mentioned, then it would be an iPhone X with a slightly wider frame for the wider screen dimension. I suppose with what you're saying, that phone would actually be shorter then the iPhone X by the amount the bottom bezel of the iPhone 8 plus takes up.

Say what? I enjoyed the Plus sized model for years and I miss the size even when using my iPhone X. This is exactly what I want, I want the Plus models size with as large a display they can possibly fit!

My half a brain cell is very excited for an even larger screen. I have never had any problems with the size of the Plus phones. They fit in my pocket perfectly.

A 5.5" screen in an iPhone with no bezels is what I'd want too. It's the perfect screen size for me. I don't get the tall and skinny screen of the X phones. I much prefer a 16:9 aspect ratio.

I'm sure the screen will be gorgeous, but after handing in my iPhone 6 Plus for an iPhone X, I'm not sure I want to go back to a giant phone. The X feels really good in hand (with a thin, grippy case), I miss the extra pixels on my old phone but it was so unwieldy (and I don't have small Trump-hands).

I love everything about the 8+ other than the screen is too small. Don't act like you speak for everyone when you are literally the only person on the internet saying "Keep the 16:9 screen but chop off the bezels." It's like you're living in an alternate reality version of 2015.

The LG displays will be terrible. I wouldn’t get an X Plus in that case. May stick with my 8 Plus until 2019 at least.

X Plus is exactly what I want, but I dunno that I’ll be able to swallow that $1000+ price tag. Might be going to a future Google Pixel.

I am not asking Apple to change anything with the iPhones.

If yo you want a smaller screen, that is fine.

I am just asking Apple to give iPhone capability to the LTE iPads, specifically the iPad mini 4's.

Why carry around two devices, and iPhone and an iPad?

The iPad mini 4 is no bigger than some of the largest phablets for sale in China.
And they are selling quite well.

And don't give me that absurd joke about holding an iPad up to your head to make phone calls.
I don't use my smartphone without a Headset anyway.

I can make and receive phone calls, Hands-Free.

But when I need to see something on a screen, like Email, Webpages, Maps, and Books,
I would prefer to use a larger screen than on any smartphone.

So, in keeping with Apple's genius philosophy of Simplicity, why make distinction between
a Tablet and a phone? It is undeniable that they are all the same device, internally.

The only real distinction internally is whether the devices are just Wifi or Wifi + LTE.
