My husband loves his. I tried them and decided I didn't care for them. They work very well, though for music and calls. They are just not for me.

I think for basic functionality, it gets a B-. They are sleek and comfortable.
But lag is a big issue for me with these things and I also don't like the fact the warranty period is limited to 1 year with no option for extended protection

Overall I am very happy with mine. Battery life is not an issue because I never get the chance to wear them for 5+ hours at a time and they charge quickly when they are put in their case. I also frequently wear 1 at a time because I have to be able to hear other things in my environment. I like the fact I can wear just 1 without having the other one dangling on my shoulder. Sound quality is great for my application in an office environment. My only (minor) problem is that sometimes the case and AirPods will not show the battery status on my iPhone.

I agree with everything here, except the right ear fits fine, and the pod slips out of my left ear. Lasts about five minutes if I don't move, and three seconds if I move my head. A case where one size does not fit all. Doesn't even fit the left ear.

The Airpods are fantastic. I am one of the worst Apple critics ever, but I have to admit they hit it out of the park, especially for the price. I wouldn't have paid any more than what they charge though.

Until they find out they cook their brains from both sides with microwaves and can trigger braincell mutation and tumours (in theory)..so no thanks.I ordered a pair, returned them unopened when I researched about them.
I can live without Bluetooth headsets.

I was also in the camp of - why would I ever want those? One of my employees challenged me and said - have you ever tried them? So, I read some reviews and then put in an order, waiting 6 weeks for delivery. I also got the BeatsX at the same time so I could compare. I am actually very impressed with both products. I wear the AirPods daily and I have run a marathon in them without them falling out. I do agree with the comment about lag when trying to double tap. And Siri is still very poor in my opinion, especially when running (not a 100% fair complaint on my part).

For me, the biggest wins are:
1. The sound is decent enough for what they are - I have an audio background, and I would not use them for critical listening, but for exercising or phone calls, they are very good.
2. The convenience is huge. No tangled cord in my pocket, easy to get into my ear. No on button to activate and await boot up. Pauses music when removed. Can do the whole thing one handed. They are always charged.
3. The smoothness of pairing is magical. (BeatsX has this too.) Even with multiple devices.

Gen 2 will be better (obviously guesses on my part):
1. Lag will be reduced
2. More gestures will be available, and I guess that each ear can have its own set of commands when both are in your ear
3. They'll squeeze a bit more battery life out of them

I cannot comment on the survey methodology, but I can say that I am happy beyond my expectation and I am seeing more and more of them on the running trail and in airports.

I still don't get the hype... the only thing that was somewhat cool was the paring process. Sound quality is ok... I really wish I had the ears of the ones who claim they sound "amazing!" I had a few of my coworkers try both AirPods and EarPods and not one could tell the difference in quality.

Well Apples user base should certainly be a good sample size to test this theory :D

what do you like better Airpods or BeatsX?

My favorite use is with my Macbook. In the evenings I don't have to peck around trying to find the headphone jack in the dark. No worries about getting tangled up with power cord, chair arms, etc. I sometimes find it handy to only use one so I can listen to what else is going on around me.

Great products are so usable they almost become second nature from the start. That's the way the Airpods feel. They are cheap at $159!

Too each their own. I personally really like mine. They don't fit perfectly and my left side fit tends to loose more quickly with regular movement but generally they stay in well enough. It's the convenience that the killer feature--so easy to swtich between devices, pop in or out at a moments notice and almost always ready to go thanks to the handy charging case. I have the Beats Solo3 as well and love those. The benefits of the W1 are the real deal for both--great extended range vs. regular BT headphones, the aforementioned easy switching between Apple gear and the Solo3 have phenominal battery life.

lol. you should try one at least for 1 wk.

Nice or not, there is no way to identify its 8-10 times of price, comparing with the $15-20 a pair wireless earphones you can easily find online. Maybe AirPods has its merits in comparison, but those extra merits don't worth that much. The major benefit of a wireless earphone is that there is no wire between the earphone and the phone, that's the most of the value stands.

Sounds very sanitary.
In regard to the hype, there's nothing to get.
The Airpods either work for you or they don't.
Simple.

I do agree with the comment about lag when trying to double tap.

Not sure if you mean lag once you successfully double tap or getting it to register.. if the latter, try a triple tap instead. Works every time for me after having problems getting the double tap to work.

Could have another problem when they introduce more gestures as you predict!

I use them nearly everyday and they're great. The reviews are dead on.

To anyone saying they look stupid, they look EXACTLY like normal EarPods, just without the cord. So unless you think that cord draped from your head into your pocket is a crucial fashion statement, then they just look odd because you're used to the cord.

I think the idea and engineering behind the AirPods are great, but I can't justify paying $160 for earbuds that sound as awful as they do.

If they made a high-end version maybe a planar driver or multiple drivers, I'd happily pay more for it.
