Not surprised. Delighted with mine.

Agreed. I thought they look silly and they do (but I wrapped it in black). I love how it works with my IOS devices quite easily. You don't turn it off or on. It just works for me.

Nice or not, there is no way to identify its 8-10 times of price, comparing with the $15-20 a pair wireless earphones you can easily find online. Maybe AirPods has its merits in comparison, but those extra merits don't worth that much. The major benefit of a wireless earphone is that there is no wire between the earphone and the phone, that's the most of the value stands.
It's not true wireless if there's still a wire between your ears.

I use them nearly everyday and they're great. The reviews are dead on.

To anyone saying they look stupid, they look EXACTLY like normal EarPods, just without the cord. So unless you think that cord draped from your head into your pocket is a crucial fashion statement, then they just look odd because you're used to the cord.

I love mine but I remember my GF saying, "they look like the cord got cut off." LOL

Inevitably you see the above posted in regard to Airpods, but rarely do you see the poster link to these "comparing with the $15-20 a pair wireless".

After waiting four months I was finally able to snag a pair at a local Apple Store. Really like how they pair and how the case charger works - a simple but clever innovation. Have never been in a situation without power. They sound great and no problem with them staying in my ears.

Best part is using them for phone calls. Usually use just one, and the sound quality is excellent in both directions.

Amazed stock is still scarce at all Apple Stores in the San Francisco Bay Area - delivery is six weeks, like it has been since introduction. Clearly a hit for Apple.

I've used the AirPods more in 3 months than all other portable earbuds I have had COMBINED.

The key is that they have brutal battery life, good (not great) sound quality that is balanced between bass and treble, they can be used in the real world, and most importantly: they just fit in your pocket like your car keys.

I think for basic functionality, it gets a B-. They are sleek and comfortable.
But lag is a big issue for me with these things and I also don't like the fact the warranty period is limited to 1 year with no option for extended protection

Are you thinking of doing competitive gaming with them? Because otherwise, they dont have noticeable lag.

Good thing loads on here said they were ugly and looked ridiculous and they're not going to buy them.
Yet months later after release they are still almost as hard to find as the Dodo bird.
Yep, I never understood that complaint. After years of wires dangling from each ear down to our pockets, we're supposed to think that…

They are amazing dont care what people say cos most hate comes from ppl that dont have them, they sound incredible and fit nice and i dont have a bad word to say, i just wish there was more function with single tap on one change track and other pauses it maybe with a firmware update

So it's Apple stock headphones without wires? They sound mediocre at best so I don't know if the wireless version would be worth it. I'm a mild audiophile and I only use my EarPods to watch movies and tv shows. I'll switch to my expensive over the headphones for music.

I still dream of the day Apple gives us balance control and a global (works with all apps and sound sources) graphic EQ. it would be a godsend for the hearing impaired, as well as for tailoring sound to different environments.

AirPods are amazing.

All I can think when I see people with the regular wired earbuds is "they must not know yet."

I doubt it. I prefer wired because I'm deaf/hard of hearing using open air bud headphones or a special wired headset that lies next to the 'behind the ear' hearing aid I wear ( in telecoil mode, it blocks background noise and plays whatever sound is coming from the phone for music or for private skype calls ).

People with hearing aids CANNOT use the Air Pods. For Apple to claim to be for accessibility, it is an industrial design flaw. Even 'in the ear' headphones don't work on me at all despite the fact the earmold is custom built for hearing aids. I'm shocked that Apple didn't think of having wireless headsets that can work with custom earmolds since everyone's ears are different.

Apple has created another hit. A hit that will dominate its category and at the same time grow its category. I would not be surprise to learn that the Airpods by themselves are a Fortune 500 company in terms of revenue. And they could become a Fortune 100 company in a few years once they become a little better and folks get more comfortable with the idea of using them. Of and once they can be bought everywhere as a spur of the moment purchase. Having to order them and wait weeks is a pain.

It's early in the game, maybe AirPods will eventually support molds third-party wise. My hope is that one day AirPods can function to help you hear better too, my friend is hard of hearing and i think hearing aids are overpriced for the tech.

I hear ya. I have a hearing loss that I was born with. So an audiofile I'm not. And because of that it's very difficult to justify 160 bucks for AirPods that don't even fit well. I just buy a 30 dollar set of wired earbuds and I'm happy.

You are really going to stick a wireless transmitter as close as possible to your head (or IN your head actually...) and have it broadcasting a signal through the middle of your brain for hours? Think about it.

I haven't seen one yet nor seen anybody using it. I was at the Apple Store the other day and didn't noticed anybody having one dangling on their ear. The only thing I noticed from the store that day Apple Store employees using radio. Talking about how advance their technology and they still using radio.

I love mine! Battery life is excellent and they charge really fast.

The only thing I would like to see is more tap based controls on the next version. I hate talking to siri to just skip a song.

This reinforces my belief that my ears are just really weird. After buying foam donut covers so they stay in my ears better, they are nearly perfect. Only issues I have are sometimes it gets hung up when switching over to my Mac. I frequently switch between my iPhone and Mac as I do walks and short runs during the day at work. I wish I could configure it to auto connect to my iPhone when I lock my Mac or go out of BT range. I also wish I could set it to auto pair to my Mac when I get back and unlock it. Having the ability to fine tune things like that would make the experience so much more streamlined.

??? Why not? No different than keeping your phone in your pocket. RF at 2.4 Gig at that power level won't even penetrate much deeper then skin thickness.

Not me. Connection issues. Horrible quality with Siri or calls where the mic is needed. Not displaying battery life properly, not being able to report battery life back. I like the idea, but these do not "just work."

As I've said it before, best Apple product under Tim Cook's reign.
