I wish I knew

I just bought a Macbook Pro a few days ago for school, I had no idea about this program. Think they'd rein burst me? My guess is no.. oh well wishful thinking.

Do the prices of the MB's get dropped too ? Or do you just receive the iPod ?
(Not trying to sound greedy, just wondering to make sure I got the money ready :p) .

yes the prices of the macs get dropped to the student pricing as well. usually about $100 off

Best time to purchase a Mac if you are a student.

Student discount + free iPod = an opportunity to purchase a new mac at lowest possible price (assuming you sell the iPod that is).

Also for people wondering (I know this question gets asked often): It is safe to assume that you will HAVE to purchase the iPod at the time you purchase the Mac, full price. You later receive a check for the cost of the iPod from Apple. I am stating that it is safe to assume this because this is how it has been done in the past fyi.

Don't forget the $100 printer, too!

Because it is Apple I would say it is worth a try (if in fact the promotion starts within a week or two from your actual purchase). If they even end up allowing you to be a part of the promotion, you would definitely have to purchase the iPod at full retail price, and then they would mail you the check as they would do if you took part in the promotion during the correct time. They will NOT just hand you a free iPod. Apple has been known to fix problems like these on a case to case basis, as in, you could get lucky and the store will help you out, OR they will tell you no way, it all depends on the store you go to and the employees at that store.

Either way it is definitely worth a shot.

Don't they also change the discount for the Macbook/Macbook Air to $100 instead of $49.99 off?

I know that some of the macs that are $50 with the normal student discount, but I can't remember if for this promotion if they up those to $100. It sounds familiar, but I can't say for sure.

I'm 32 and have been out of college, well, for 11 yrs. When I bought my wife's iMac recently, the AAPL employee asked us if we were students. We said no. He said are you sure?, and I then got the hint and said "yes, we are students at XYX local college. He smiled, we smiled, and left paying a lot less than a non-student.

So, I suppose it depends on the salesperson, the stars aligning, or something like that, as to how lucky you get. We got lucky.

I don't think it's a big deal as AAPL is printing money right now. Sales are sales...inventory going out is a huge deal for stockholders.

You paid a lot less? The discount is only $100

do you think the Ipad could be exchanged and just pay the diference? or could the ipad become a part of the program for once?

Talk to them. They would have to do a return and and then you'd have to repurchase it, because to get the iPod or the printer deal everything has to be on the same receipt (it's how the system is set up: you enter the receipt number online).

Since you're within the 14 day return window and there's no more restocking fee, you should be able to do this with no problems.

I worked at an Apple Store and every summer when the BTS promo started there would be people in your situation. I always tried to help out if they asked. So just go and talk to them. :)

Wait for June/July for new MBA??

I'm looking to buy a 13" MBA but I'm curious if it will be worth the wait for Sandy Bride in June/July? I'm a little anxious to buy and the B2S sale coming next week makes me even more excited to go and get one! Would the new MBAs with Sandy Bride be eligible for the B2S sale? Is it worth buying the Superdrive; I saw you can share from another Mac but installing MS Office? I've finally decided to switch from Windows to Mac and I could use some advice haha thanks!

hopefully we are allowed to apply the $200 towards an iPad? :p
I'm wondering the same thing. That would better justify a role in the big Apple Store meeting. Although given the tight supply on the iPad 2 at full price, Apple really doesn't need to offer discounts to increase demand and neither do they have the supply to meet it if they did.

I was actually looking today at the student price for the entry level white macbook. It said that there was a $50 discount, but the price actually had a $100 reduction (priced at $899 instead of $999). It looked strange so I double and triple checked.

Of course the store is now down - so who knows what will happen when it comes back.

but will call them and try to pull out my best.

same boat. Been rockn the same Macbook Pro for the last 5 years. Finally upgraded to the top of the line minus ssd this last week (May13) and received it yesterday (my first post on the new MBP!). Hoping they will honor the BTS promotion, otherwise I need to return!! Wonder how BTO orders work in terms of returning (within the 14 day return policy)

Haha you must have the same core 2 duo MBP that just died on me. Been holding out for this promotion (also might wait for lion's release). Amazing how long these machines last.

Ok, I apologize for this question but being new to being ihn the market for an iMac switching from a Pc during the summer. How long does this Back To School promotion last? and is it open to only students and faculty?

I was under the impression despite the title of the promotion it was open to all new Mac customers and was only named this due to the time of year.
