What does the following banner in the educational pricing section of the Apple Store mean? Are they stopping the Educational Pricing when it says "Last Call"? I though the normal Educational Pricing was year round.

They mean last call if you are a student about to graduate and join the real world.

My son took advantage of the Back-to-School offer last summer and got a free iPod, along with a $100 (if I remember correctly) discount on the Macbook he purchased. I'm getting the 27" desktop this time around. I also think that if you opt for the iPod with more memory they give you the cost of the cheaper iPod to put towards it. If I'm not mistaken, I think that they also allowed you to put that amount (I believe it was around $200 at the time) towards an iPad. Not absolutely sure on that but that seems to ring a bell. Does anyone else remember that?

I think they're trying to say that since you are a graduating senior it's your last chance to take advantage of the student discount. Can't imagine Apple discarding the Back-to-School sale. I have two kids in college now and they tell me everyone is buying Macs. Not the case when I was there 25 years ago;-)

Not sure about credit toward more expensive iPod, but definitely not toward an iPad (unless some leftover originals, which I doubt). The purpose of the promo is to clear out old inventory before refresh.

It was a credit towards a larger capacity iPod touch.

Definitely not towards the iPad

My friend just bought the new 27" iMac from Best Buy. Do they offer the promotion also?
In the past Best Buy has matched the offer.

Dang, just received my new iMac 27" today :(
If the promo starts next week you should still be eligible. Call and ask; people have done this in the past and were successful.

Do the prices of the MB's get dropped too ? Or do you just receive the iPod ?
(Not trying to sound greedy, just wondering to make sure I got the money ready :p) .
The prices remain the asme.

I just bought a Macbook Pro a few days ago for school, I had no idea about this program. Think they'd rein burst me? My guess is no.. oh well wishful thinking.
They won't reimburse you for anything, but they may give you the rebate.

Don't they also change the discount for the Macbook/Macbook Air to $100 instead of $49.99 off?
What?
hopefully we are allowed to apply the $200 towards an iPad? :p
No- iPads and iPhones do not qualify. The rebate can only be applied to an iPod.
Ok, I apologize for this question but being new to being ihn the market for an iMac switching from a Pc during the summer. How long does this Back To School promotion last? and is it open to only students and faculty?

I was under the impression despite the title of the promotion it was open to all new Mac customers and was only named this due to the time of year.
The iPod rebate only happens during the Back to School promotion, which has happened every summer for the past several years. It ends in early/mid September.

Here is that time of the year again eh!
Too bad we don't have go back to school twice a year that would really help to get the refreshed products at a lower price :D

The promotion also applies to teachers (or at least did when I got my "free" Touch 3 years ago). When buying my wife a MacBook, we half joked to the clerk that I (then adjunct prof) should get the 10% and iPod; he just glanced at my university ID and made it happen.

Should I wait until Lion comes out to get this so I don't have to buy Lion?
Or will the deal be gone by then?

Now if they will just update the Mac Mini, I will be able to take advantage of the Back 2 School sale. Hurry up already.

Historically the Mini hasn't been eligible for the promotion. From 2010:

PRODUCT ELIGIBILITY: Only the following Apple Computers qualify for this promotion: iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac Pro (“Apple Computers”). Configure-to-order
versions of these Apple Computers qualify for this offer. Refurbished Apple Computers do not qualify. Mac mini does not qualify. All iPod models in the table below qualify for this promotion.
Refurbished iPod models do not qualify. The eligible Apple Computers and iPod models listed herein are collectively referred to as “Qualifying Products.”

here's a question: i purchased a macbook pro on may 14. i tried to negotiate a price match with a $999 microcenter offer. the apple store countered with an educational price of $1099. i bought it there for that price. now i see the back-to-school promo may be happening soon. should i be able to qualify getting the "free" rebated ipod touch by showing the educational receipt?
or would i have to return the original purchase and start over. i am not currently enrolled in college.

my receipt actually reads "educational institution" ($100), so according to apple i've already "qualified" for an educational discount.

Oh darn! I just ordered a CTO Mac Book pro. Anyone know if I can still take advantage of this within the two weeks of my MBP purchase? It would really be a shame not to get a free iPod touch. :/

No it doesn't. K-12 students in general are not eligible; only K-12 institution employees, board members, and executives.
