And white. I would LOVE an all white iMac (again).
I don’t understand why they didn’t make the entire front white like those old white plastic iMacs. It’s not really the white bezel that’s the problem, it’s the awkward division between the chin and the bezel. Should have make the entire front the coloured aluminum or the entire front the white glass. It really is quite ugly.

The colors on the back are nice, but really don’t like the lighter pastels on the front, which is the side you’ll be looking at. Which they had kept the same darker color on both sides.

Uhhhh I think you mean most computers that aren't made by Apple? Or for smartphones as well... most other smartphones don't have software specifically made for the phone itself, which is why I've always been hesitant to buy a Galaxy phone... the only Android phone I would consider buying is a Pixel, but even those have other pullbacks that keep me buying Apple. And Apple has done the same thing with their computers, finally making chips that can take full advantage of the software and vice versa. Other computers such as Microsoft's Surface and pretty much any Dell and HP computer is exactly as you described... although those look more like 2021 Ferraris with a 1970 Volkswagen engine under the hood, which is an even greater disappointment than what you described. One would at least expect a decent looking computer to perform decently, and this is where Apple not only meets our expectations but constantly exceeds it. Look at pretty much ANY real world example of an M1 Mac/MacBook being used.
I think you miss the poster's point.

iMacs (at least the Intel ones) were these large, cool looking machines using....laptop processors.

Continuing the move to pretty, but dumb, terminals at the user end, with subscription based cloud compute.
You want to do anything more intensive than web browsing, you can pay an extra $100 a month to run it in the Apple cloud.
I'm not sure I understand---what do I have to pay $100.00 a month to "run" "in the Apple cloud?"

I do own two flat keyboards (non-Apple) and to me ergonomics are absolutely fine. Just because they are so flat, the height difference between keys and underlying surface becomes so small that it grows towards “negligible”. And if you should still miss a palm rest, you can get lots of various 3rd-party palm rests to put in front of the keyboard.

Yeah, I suppose the step between the key tops and the desk is similar (or less) to the height difference between a 1990s desktop keyboard and the palm rest
I also have become a big fan of TKL versions (ten-key-less), as I noticed that I never actually used the additional “ten keys” on the right and with TKL you can have keyboard and mouse closer together (due to the keyboard being significantly less wide), thus relieving shoulder joints and neck muscles, which is especially beneficial long-term.
i rarely use the ten keys either. I suspect they are more used as a game control pad than for numeric input now, apart from accountants etc.

My daily driver is TKL because it is worse ergo's. When I need to do spreadsheets (once a month or so), I have a full sized apple keyboard I pull out.

Looking forward to purchasing the Silver iMac.
(I would have gone with Green if it was a fresh lime green instead of the Teal/mint colour)

The chin is there to fit the motherboard and speaker array which otherwise would have to be put behind the screen, increasing the thickness and wasting a ton of space above where there would be just empty space. It makes total sense to design it this way.
Gotta disagree hard on this one. Double the edge thickness and no one would genuinely care from a design perspective. Could then accommodate larger speakers, ethernet port and possibly rear mounted 3.5mm jack. Sure empty space would exist, but not really an issue and much better design choice.
PSU could also then be onboard, but I am quite alright with that being external as its one of the most failure prone components.

I wish that as well. However I feel like the darker or more intense the color the worse it looks. I think the silver one looks good, as well as the green one (from the front only, which is the only thing I'd see).

No question, this is a jarring design, but at worse really we get smaller white bezels instead, and the removal of the front logo. I really cannot wait to see these in person, though, to really make up my mind.

I'm of the mind that they definitely prized thinness over having just a screen, and also did it on purpose to keep the familiar (and iconic at this point) iMac silhouette.

lol - so many miserable people commenting here.

These iMacs will fly out the door. I bet when people see them in person they’ll be yelling “take my money”.

If you don’t like the colors, there is a silver version just like the current iMacs.
If you want a bigger screen, then sit out for the model that will possibly come after it, later down the line...

Stop making APPLE filthy Rich for a basic Mac
Go out and buy a PC with Windows and Join the rest of the world.
Be different is Over.
It's time people unify over one platform. WINDOWS.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA

HELL NO.

I use PCs for work, and that's because I have to (it is issued to me).

I don't game, although if you do, PC is the way to go. I just use PlayStations (no Xbox)and occasionally, Nintendo consoles for a not so quick Mario fix when the mood strikes.

But I AIN'T USING WINDOWS FOR HOME/PERSONAL COMPUTING. EVER. AGAIN.
