Because it’s a WIRELESS mouse! Its supposed to be used wirelessly. If Apple intended it to be used when connected then no doubt the lightning port would be on the side near the front and it wouldn’t describe itself as wireless!

And it only takes a few minutes to charge if the battery is flat or nearly so - perfect time to grab a coffee or go to the loo or do some stretches!

No. Sorry. My Apple-Apologist Meter has its limits, and you just blew out its back defending that POS design.

It is one of Apple's most BONEHEADED hardware designs, sitting right along the trash can pro, the butterfly keyboard, the puck mouse, and the Apple Pencil Gen 1 charging mechanism.

My father is the kind of guy you used perhaps 80 gb on his ssd. Many, many people, none Macrumors readers probably, get by just fine with similar storage, especially if you store your material in the cloud and stream your media.

I have no idea what they were thinking when designing the front of this thing. Imagine how ridiculous that would look in an office setting.

its not made for an office setting. This is Apples consumer desktop.

Having said that, the white bezel doesnt bother me at all, and the reasons why they did them white are :

1. black would clash harshly against the pastel colours
2. the pro machines to be launched will be black to provide a more 'pro'' look for your office setting.

Big "chin" and not height adjustable, but it's thin! I was hoping the new iMac would at least allow height adjustment so that the top of the screen could be placed at eye level as OSHA recommends.

They said the bezels are light gray, not white. It’s pretty clear this is a modern design “re-imagining” of (or a throwback to) the original colored iMac G3, which also had... light grey “bezels” surrounding the screen.

People cheered wildly when those original polycarbonate colored iMacs debuted but now everyone seems upset. What’s old isn’t new apparently 😆

That was my exact thought. Who needs a magnetic cord on a desktop? No batteries makes that a big issue.

The new iMac is so thin, they could not use a traditional plug with pins.

Why does Apple make it so thin anyway?!

If you price out a PC with similar parts, they're almost identical in price. (though aesthetically far uglier) Yes, PC would then be upgradable down the line, but the reality is you're also then either putting up with Windows or Linux. I need Mac OS software so, I'm all set over here. These are fairly priced machines. They aren't the right machines for a lot of us here (I'm waiting on the larger version, and even then can get another year out of this intel machine before I upgrade I think) but for the average consumer, these are very, very good machines.

I think you miss the poster's point.

iMacs (at least the Intel ones) were these large, cool looking machines using....laptop processors.

Intel iMacs use desktop CPU's and GPU's, not low-power mobile chips.

Over the next 3-4 years, Apple will sell tens of millions of these computers.

The irony is, Apple is making more money per quarter and year selling Macs than they ever have...and Macs are only 9-10% of their overall business!

These back-to-back comments sum up the whole iMac for me.

I absolutely HATE the white bezels, and can't believe that even on the silver one that there's no black option.

The lack of the Apple logo is just odd. If the chin was instead a fame like the home-button iPhones with the screen centered on the unit, I would have been less offended. No chin would have been ideal...

BUT THOSE COLORS.....

Seriously? Dark vivid color for the back, and a matching pastel variant for the stand and chin?

REALLY? Two-toned? What did someone see the fading anodized frames making the rounds on a few iPhone 12s and think that was good? Or did a designer have an affinity for two-tone 80's pickup trucks?

They overthought the design on these; that's all I can say.

I had high hopes but super disappointed with these. At least offer a space gray option with black bezel.

In hindsight I'm glad to have my maxed out iMac pro. Will need to keep nurturing it along for a while longer I guess.

You could also change cables of older devices with detachable cables.

That works for cables. What about flash drives?
Majority of them were USB A and getting a hub would be more rational than replacing them all.
