Well, apple cancelled mine too. I'm **** outta luck for Thursday. Incredibly pissed at how this whole situation has been handled. Guess I'll be spending all day on the phone tomorrow with at&t trying to get my eligibility restored...

It's a simple process. Once you get through they're happy to do it for you.

I have to echo this. I was surprised they were able to do it quite quickly and I was able to check the status online and see that it had worked before I hung up with the AT&T rep that made the change
 
Cool, about 30 minutes after e-mailing that email with my old and new order numbers I got this e-mail just now...

That's cool for you but I sent the email at 10:19 PM last night and have heard neither hide nor hair from them.

Yeah I got it fixed on the way to work this morning, and checked immediately afterward and it's all smoothed out. Now I'm working with apple to see if anything can get reinstated or if I can still get a phone by the 24th. Someone's supposed to call me back so we'll see...
 
It's a simple process. Once you get through they're happy to do it for you.

Best thing you can do is call AT&T and tell them what happened, get your upgrade eligibility back (usually takes about an hour) then e-mail the applestoreinfo@apple.com your new and old order numbers... or goto the store and wait in line.

I called the e-com department first and they told it usually takes 72 hours, but volunteered to transfer to the regular account department when, while I was on the phone with the rep, she was able to get a supervisor to reset my eligibility. I checked on AT&T's site that it was reset before I hung up.

Sorry that you feel that way, but it does not change the fact that when I called this morning they restored my eligibility while I waited on the phone and I was immediately able to reorder from Apple. Clearly, YMMV.

Funny stuff..

I have two lines. The one I was upgrading was the second line. It was eligible.

So I called them back because you said they did it over the phone.

So..

They did indeed do it over the phone. For my PRIMARY line that WASN'T eligible. Great..
The guy told me the 2nd line would be reverted in a couple of days so I now have BOTH lines eligible.
This is what he told me. I asked him if there would be a computer snafu due to the wrong number becoming eligible and he said no. I now have both lines eligible and AT&T wasn't going to care.

Not bunk, i got it done while on the phone with them too. Took about 15 minutes while the rep talked to a supervisor. Immediately after I got off the phone I hit *693# and got a text that said I was eligible again.

Try calling them again. The first time I called, the rep said it couldn't be done over the phone, and that he put a note on my account so when I went to an at&t store they'd be able to give me the promo price there.

I sensed BS and a lot of headaches with that, so I called back about 5 minutes later and got it taken care of right there.

Just tell them about the situation and **IF** the person is as helpful as they should be it can be done within an hour or so. They had to contact a department called the ICU department whom handles the upgrade eligibility restoration and stuff... once they did that I faxed them my cancelled order from Apple and it was done within an hour.

I got EXACTLY the same reply, word for word. Clearly a form letter. I fired a quick response back to them and we'll see what they say.
 
I ordered one 32GB for my line and my wife got a 16GB on the 15th. Both from Apple. Both were successful with order acknowledgments and temporary holds on the card. Today the 16GB order shows cancelled. No email, no call, nothing, just a cancellation on the order status page.

I've been on hold with Apple for the last 30 minutes.


Anyone had a similar thing happen?


Same thing happened to me...

On June 15th I spent 6+ hours and finally ordered two 32G iPhone 4's as upgrades to iPhone 3G's for myself and my son who is on the same account as I am.

First I tried twice over several hours to order one phone on my number and one on his number but his number was not recognized by Apple's system as being on my account.

So, finally, I ordered the second iPhone 4 using my number. Which went through with no problem... and I got the order acknowledgment emails saying everything was fine for both phones...

Even so, for the last few days, I tried to call the Apple Customer Service number to verify that everything was OK but the Apple customer service system kept saying it was too busy to handle my call and kept asking me to call back later.

So, last night on the Web I noticed that Apple cancelled my second order with out asking... Today I received an email saying...

"We were unable to complete the authorization process for your iPhone order. As a result, we had to cancel your iPhone order. To complete the purchase of your iPhone, please visit an Apple Retail Store or an AT&T company-owned retail store...

So, I called and, after 2 hours, I actually talked to a live Apple employee! I explained what had happened and she replaced my order for the second iPhone 4 with a new delivery date of between July 15th and 19th. She also said that I should send an email to applestoreinfo@apple.com and request an expedited date because the delay is due to an Apple error.... you think!

So I did... am not holding my breath...

Even if Apple does expedite my new order, It will take some time to regain my confidence in Apple... This is just NOT the way customers should ever be treated..

I sent screenshots of the order numbers and dates back to them but I have a feeling the iPhone orders that were canceled, caused the July 2nd orders to be pushed up and they have zero stock.

I just hope they get more stock in to ship out before July 14th.

Was your first order one that was cancelled by Apple directly, and did you send the order number from that order to Apple along with the new one?

I can't speak for Fansie, but I got the same email and in my case the answers were yes and yes

I got the response after sending in bit my old and new order numbers.

Order status for the new order still says it will ship on July 14 - so I'm waiting for that to be expedited.

FYI any cancelled orders won't change, it's only new orders that hopefully will "rotate" in the queue and ship sooner.
