Netflix took a huge gamble creating a lot of original content in a short space of time.. if it didn't work out, would have sunk the company. Apple have more than enough $$$ to take the same risk, which would be a drop in the ocean for them.

Actually, Netflix tested the waters with but a single show in 2012, Lilyhammer, that was only a co-production in order to save costs. They followed this up with five shows in 2013 and only four more in 2014, some of which were low-budget kids shows. The real explosion was in 2015. They spent three years testing out and ramping up the concept of original content.

Lol.... mobile me was never iCloud ....... nice try.

Of course it is, for the purpose of deciding what products were "failures". Mobile Me was try #1, iCloud was the replacement based on what Apple learned the first time. It's not a failure if the company eventually got it right. Get in early, learn from your mistakes, do it right. If they eventually got to 1 billion users, that's a success.

Hate to tell you guys but we're the ones who are out of touch.

You may not like R'n'B radio or rap Apple Music exclusives or collaborations between Apple and specific brands or artists but there is no denying it generates a lot of cash and interest.

Hell, even the Touchbar MacBook that is despised on here has been received well among the community.

It's very easy to demonstrate. Guage the hate on here and compare it to the sales and revenue Apple generate. It is a small overlap on a Venn diagram.

The Macrumours usership is far, far removed from the Apple demographic. Like I said, out of touch.

We are the 2.5% and 13.5% of the curve.

We have seen this show before and now it's OLD NEWS.

Ah OK.. Netflix seemed like a fast ramp up than it actually was then.

Original content certainly worked for them.. new subscriber sign ups have been above expectations.

Apple have failed at their social attempts with Ping et al. Apple Maps is still crap ( out side of the u.s ) . iCloud is so-so, its a shame they removed the web space portion - because that was great. Now we just get a photos... iCloud Drive is far too restrictive. The performance of the web email client is generally poor.

Generally, I enjoyed using MobileMe.. but iCloud web interface, along with Drive isn't something I'm compelled to use. Find my Phone is useful.

Depends on your interpretation, I saw mobile me as decommissioned , as its services stopped and replaced by iCloud. Some viewed it as a transitions. You may find it was two separate systems in fact, though I could be wrong

Here is an example of what these "entertainers" promote. Very liberal Apple, you are actively supporting and promoting this utterly sick industry. Maybe Denise Young Smith, VP of Diversity and Inclusion, has some good liberal arguments as to how her company actively promote an industry that love cannibalism and child porn.

Was going to put a picture here but this is so disgusting I'll refrain. Go have a look. And while you are at it check out what they have on Britney Spears.

Btw, the magician's magic wand is made of Holly Wood. :apple: need a working spell checker, it seems.
And what exactly is wrong with occult rituals? They're no more crazy than the BS believers of mainstream religions believe.

People are confusing this with Apples plans for a TV service aren't they?

Not the same thing. This is purely to add video content to the Apple Music service, same as Spotify has done. The same sort of reality TV content that you would find on MTV.

Not sure why people are expecting it to compete with Netflix.

I bet if they released detailed user data of people who actually watch this show, it'd be under 16 and over 50.

It's pretty cringe and to add to the actually shows value, scarcity creates value and when James Corden only released a new segment every month it had value, with this show putting more episodes out there it loses its charm and overall value.

hardly groundbreaking or original really...
Apple should stay focussed on Phones, iPads and Macs...
such an opportunity to make great inroads into the PC market but yet... no focus

It's not the same people working on TV shows and Macs.

So the people failing at building Macs are different than the people failing at making TV shows. :D

This was cool early last year. They are soooooo late when it comes to what is "hip" in pop culture. Whats next, iMessage Stories?

What does Apple MUSIC have to do with TV anyway. Its like selling movies in iTUNES. Oh wait

All Apple products were never groundbreaking technology, it was more refine. But I am afraid entertainment content is different. Some contents get old very quickly...

Looks horrible, what a waste of time. The last thing I want shoved down my throat every time I want to discover new music is a cheesy celebrity show.

I hope no time is wasted on this during WWDC17.

As the avatar might indicate, I don't think I'm the target audience here.

Wow, where do you get your numbers from?? MobileMe =! iCloud, as MobileMe was shut down back in 2012
Uh no. iCloud is a continuous evolution of Apple's online services that has changed names from iTools to .Mac to MobileMe to now iCloud. Various parts of the service has come and gone over the years, but despite the ever changing name, the core service has remained the same.

Nope, they were parallel products, but they never overlapping or interconnected. I also noticed you conveniently ignored my request for you to identify your source for 1 billion iCloud users.

They were not parallel products. We are using the same email, the same online storage, the same contact and bookmark syncing as always, same Back to My Mac, same Find my iPhone, same online web apps; just rebranded. Some MobileMe services were retired (iWeb, gallery), others were added (online iOS backup, photo stream and eventually photo library, online iWork, keychain sync and iTunes match). It's a rebrand of Apple's online services, just as .Mac and MobileMe was.

There were 782 million iCloud users in February 2016. 1.5 years later, extrapolating growth, it's not inconceivable that the number is now closer to 1b.

Yup, it's not like there are millions upon millions of people using their devices or anything like that.

True, and I'll even add they once were a great company. But somewhere about three years ago, they changed course. Now they've become just plain pathetic.

Perhaps in the eyes of some, but nothing even close to that in the eyes of many others.
