Oh yes; with the Magnetic Mask I agree it's one of the more useful uses of AI. I've found it very handy in making my YouTube Poops!

… By the way, what are the premium features in each app that requires the paid subscription?

I've been gaining a sense for it by following the stories around this, but it doesn't seem straightforward. The premium features are mostly content-based (like special themes, backgrounds and images), and a new warp tool for Pixelmator Pro.

(Please feel free to reply and link to a YTP!)

Yeah, and it also seems other premium features for Final Cut Pro are the A.I.-based "Transcript Search" and "Visual Search" and for Logic Pro the "AI Session Players", but that seems to be it.

Here is a very recent YTP made with the Magnetic Mask and other features in Final Cut Pro...

In India it's only
₹399 per month or ₹3999 per year
$4.33 per month or $43.46 per year
I am happy that Apple is providing prices under PPP - this is good news for Indians

Heehee; lovely.

Those aren't subscription-exclusive features; they were added to the standalone versions today. I don't think Logic Pro has any subscription-exclusive features to this point.

Well, the standalone version of Final Cut Pro (with the previous icon and the $300 price tag) has all the features considered premium add-ons to the Creator Studio version, from what I've heard.

Tomorrow is a possibility — this will be bundled on the new machines, so it has to launch first.

I think the hope for an almost immediate release is now gone.

Apple announces it's quarterly earnings on that day (today) and I don't think there's any way Apple would want an M5 Pro/Max MacBook Pro launch impact diluted by having to share the limelight with the media attention that will get especially when the next MacBook Pro launch will be the first time the world gets to see actual performance claims for the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. In my opinion that actually makes the M5 Pro/Max MacBook Pro launch a pretty big deal even if there are pretty much no other design changes compared to their M4 MacBook Pro predecessors because we'll get to see if any new packaging technology will give even more of a performance bump with the M5 Pro and M5 Max vs their previous generation counterparts compared to the percentage performance jumps we've already seen with the baseline M5 it's predecessor.

I think we're now firmly back in the "soon, but no clue as to exactly when" situation when it comes to the launch of the rest of the M5-based MacBook Pro range. I'm still hoping for February but it wouldn't surprise me if it was March. I really hope we're not waiting as long as until April.

I worry about the iWorks apps being included in this. If the extra features behind the Creator Studio paywall are just fancy templates and AI help for glitzy layouts and stuff then I don't really care but if any new features related to calculation and/or control capabilities get hidden behind this paywall then I'll be very annoyed because that would mean that what I would classify as more science and engineering oriented users (including "financial engineering" to include accountants, portfolio managers, tax specialists etc) would be forced to spend money on stuff of absolutely no interest to them whatsoever just to get some extra capabilities in Numbers.

Having said that, I really do want to see Apple adding features to Numbers because on the computational & control side of things it really is quite primitive, for example Lambda functions fairly recently introduced but no ability to name them!

I suppose I could call myself an Excel power user and, as someone who is about to move to MacOS after over 30 years of Windows use, I would really like to ditch my Microsoft 365 subscription and start using Numbers as my main spreadsheet app - I'd even be willing to do some recoding to convert across since I actually enjoy that stuff and it would be a good opportunity to relook at some of my most complex spreadsheets and create 2.0 versions incorporating lessons learned - but Numbers just doesn't have all of the functionality that I would need to make that transition away from Excel.

I can see why, as essentially free inclusions in the MacOS (and iOS/iPadOS) software environment, Apple has in the past found it hard to justify the resources needed to beef up Numbers functionality so I wouldn't be adverse to paying a subscription for the iWorks apps, I do after all currently pay for a Microsoft 365 subscription, but I do not want that subscription price driven up by the inclusion of all sorts of content creation apps that I am never going to install on my Mac (or will delete them if they are pre-installed because I have literally zero use for them).

I really think that the better way forward if Apple is intent on moving apps to a subscription model would be to split out the iWorks apps from the Creator Studio bundle and have a separate paid-for tier for the iWorks apps. Basic iWorks functionality would still be accessible via the free versions and that would probably be good enough for many video/music/artistic/photographic content creators but people like me could pay for the iWorks Pro (or whatever it got called) subscription bundle. That would give the iWorks apps an identifiable dedicated revenue stream that might allow Apple to justify at least some additional resources to bolster the functionality for the pro versions of the iWorks apps. If the Numbers development team could deliver then that would be a strategy that would get extra revenue from me (and deny Microsoft my annual Microsoft 365 revenue). As it stands now there is no way in hell that I would pay a subscription fee for a bundle where only 1 of the apps is of interest to me and I would simply keep (grudgingly) paying Microsoft for my M365 subscription or maybe dumping the subscription and buying a perpetual MS Office license although I think that would lose me the ability to edit stuff on my iPad.

As far as I can tell (at least on iOS and iPadOS), nothing except for some new AI features and a new look. I only used them briefly on the Mac too, doesn’t seem like much changed there either.

Pixelmator Pro is nice to have on the iPad now, but I doubt I’m going to renew the subscription after the trial is over. I don’t use iWork enough, and I'd rather use Photomator for my photo editing, no interest in the other apps in the bundle.

Disappointing that Pixelmator requires macOS26. I'm pretty sure it would be capable of running on Sequoia, it's just a dodgy back door to force people to update. I did try to update to see if 26.2 was any better than 26 and it's so chugging slow with clicks and icon renders. Not to mention the waste of space all over the place, so promptly restored back to Sequoia.

I've taken the free trial for a month which I will use without Pixelmator, but feel a bit abandoned recently with the likes of Pixelmator and Affinity moving to subscriptions to get the most out of their products. I guess I could still buy Pixelmator but the buy-once version is a dead duck.

The subscription is pretty good value as a whole, just a shame they have restricted it to people who are braving their way through 26.

there is no such need, just that standalone applications do not have access to monthly fee libraries.
Ok as I had to remove pages et al… I mean space is limited and I got a message saying that the free version wasn’t going to be updated anymore. I don’t really want to have 2 copies of Final Cut Pro on my Mac.
