The names aren't that bad, but are they really about to make a mockery of the decimal system? 10.10 is mathematically identical to 10.1...

Here we go again with a statement like this, do you have any idea about software versions??

Right now we are on 10.9.2 version software has nothing to do with the decimal system.

The cats had nine lives: 10.0-10.8. Now it's time for California-themed names. And I think Apple should number the next OS 11.0, not 10.10, especially since it might include the first major redesign since OS 10.0.

Don't worry, that whole chunk of coastal California is going to fall off into the ocean when the big one hits...you couldn't pay me to live there!

Nup! The San Andreas fault is moving inland. That means that when the big one hits, you're not gonna have a chunk of California float off into the Pacific, you're gonna have a new, huge ass mountain range extending from Santa Cruz to Palm Springs.

FUN FACTS!

I'm still waiting for Mac OS X Cougar

California is the best overall state in the union.
Born and raised there. I've lived in other states. All others pale in comparison. Anyone who actually says different is really just showing their envy.

No it isn't. There's nothing mathematical about this. It's MajorVersion.MinorVersion. Two independent number. After 10.9 comes 10.10. And after 10.99 comes 10.100. It's really not that hard to understand.

Why is that those - and there seems to be plenty of them - who complain about 10.10 being (mathematically) the same as 10.1 appear to be quite happy with 10.9.2. Unless the rules of maths have changed recently, you can't have 2 decimal points in a number

naming names

My fav California names for the os are

1 Compton
2 East LA or East LA interchange
3 Fresno
4 Bakersfield
5 Pomona
6 Reseda
7 PCH
8 Parlier
9 Redlands
10 Simi Valley

Presently I'm rushing to trademark the aforementioned names.

OS X Life Expectancy? 10-15 Years?

When OS X was first released didn't Phil Schiller say it would be the OS for the next 10-15 years? With an initial release of March 24, 2001 we're nearing the 15 year mark. So what's next? Is there much life left in OS X? I'm a big Apple fan and not trolling at all.
