I would definitely continue to buy Apple products with Touch ID, if they meet my needs.
Not interested in Face ID.

Except there is zero evidence Face ID was plan B.
If it’s a small group please explain why Apple is even considering the continuation of TouchID.Majority of users = a small, vocal minority on Macrumors forums.
Btw, Face ID is certainly the future and the main biometric unlock method. You can count on it.
Touch ID needs dry hands and doesn’t work well for a lot of people depending on their skin (I’m one of those). Face ID doesn’t care.
Perfectly fine, and if Apple offers both, it will be good for everyone. But some people here are pretending Touch ID is objectively better, which is just not true. I’d say the majority of people prefer Face ID, and it is a more advanced technology that allows more features (like attention detection).
I have a late 2013 rMBP that works, but Apple will probably consider it "obsolete" soon, and I kind of want to get an iMac. FaceID will make sense on it. Also wish for a G4 iMac or MS Surface Studio style screen that can move, along with a graphics tablet-style touchscreen. I know the touchscreen is a long shot, but drawing is a little hobby of mine, and would love to see what Apple would do with it.I really can’t wait for the next generation of iMacs. Mine is from 2010 and I really want a new 1, but it’s been 7 years that they’ve been using this design and I think it’s almost time for a refresh of the iMac itself and Magic Keyboard.
I think they’re more likely to have Face ID on it.
This might be a dumb question, but what if it gets paired with a Windows computer? I can easily see someone who's elderly buying an Apple keyboard (not realising it's designed for Mac's only) for their Windows machine. How will Windows handle that?
How often are you hands wet
Anyway, for me TouchID worked perfectly all those years so that is my bias I guess.
FaceID has too many compromises but I do agree that having both is probably the best case. Everyone happy![]()
Guess what, the camera has always been there. Even when TouchID was the only option.Great. I much prefer being able to interact with the security when I want instead of having a camera stare at me the whole time.

And I know at least 1 large corporate account (my current employer) who would never buy thousands of devices that could be easily, accidentally unlocked from a distance then fall into the wrong hands.
You sure are protesting a lot. FaceID components reseller?
Of course it will as long as they lazily go about "updating" their products like the Air 3 and iPad Mini 5.
I'm not interested in letting the Government spy on me, so I'll keep getting the older models with touch ID until I can't any longer and then might just have to switch to Android.

The laziest update they ever made was the iPod touch 7. It's still on Bluetooth 4.1 when the rest of their line-up already moved on.

So you want the government to spy on you?
Good point. These keyboards would cost $300+ so no one is just picking one up without knowing what it is and how to use it
True, but don’t you also think they’d want to restrict it to have the best functionality on a Mac?Not a dumb question at all. Apple probably could write a Windows driver, and let 3rd party developers make apps to utilize it. Some thing Apple does with it on Mac, but on Windows. Of course, I'm just spit balling ideas, and they're probably **** ideas anyways.

TouchID is superior in basically every use case except when your hands are wet. My iPhone has touch, my iPad has face, and the latter is finicky as heck.
Don’t let Google spy on you, now.I'm not interested in letting the Government spy on me, so I'll keep getting the older models with touch ID until I can't any longer and then might just have to switch to Android.
Face ID is cool but I look like an absolute idiot when I try to unlock my phone when it's laying flat on my desk, or when leaning over contactless credit card machines in shops.
