Ah, you beat me to it. Immediately on reading the article, I wanted to vent my frustration at this pathetic "form ahead of function", that robs us of good keyboards, and stops them giving matte anti-glare screens to those that need them.

Good riddance to these people. Glad their names are published. Name and shame them.

The keyboards are bad because they were engineered poorly, not because Apple values "form over function." It's possible to have both form and function as is evident in most of Apple's other products.

And the transition to an all services company is almost complete. Just like General Electric.
Next they'll port their stuff to Roku and Android.
Then it'll be complete.
Thanks Tim Apple!

The last truly groundbreaking product from Apple was the iPhone. And before that the iPod, preceded by the candy iMacs. It's been a long time of simply adding features to existing products. Stagnancy of invention and you become a seller of consumer widgets, and then media subscriptions? How boring.

I actually like my iPad better than my iPhone.

iPad is by far my favorite Apple product.

A good opportunity to employ someone from the "Steve Jobs school of design":

"Design is how it works."

With emphasis on "it works". Also known as "form follows function".

Make the things work properly first, then beauty will follow by itself.

What the hell are you babbling about? Steve Jobs meant using design to solve a problem. He did not mean what you think. For example, the antenna system in the iPhone 4. They used the steel frame to intergrate the antennas. It’s not that form follows function but form IS function, function is form.

But to get to the heart of the matter, I believe these resignations are due to one thing and one thing only: The Samsung Fold. I find it commendable that these gentlemen quit in response to the Galaxy Fold (along with other Samsung innovations). They have my respect.

OMG. Cry me a river. I can guarantee **** would hit the fan tomorrow if I didn't show up to work.

That last sentence of yours will hopefully get you banned from this forum.
Name and shame them for what exactly - your assumptions? Disgraceful.

Naming/publisihing theie names is a straight up dick head move. We are talking about 3 employees right? We can't get a good/relialbe worker hired to save our lives here.

Please explain why you believe this. Why would they leave because of the Galaxy Fold?

they were forced out after refusing the give up their 2015 MacBook Pros. "My computer is an essential tool for me," said one of the departing employees. "I don't have time to mess around with substandard keyboards and a bunch of dongles. Would you tell your surgeon what scalpel to use?"

I agree. The media subscriptions thing is just sad. I mean, magazines? I sometimes glance at the Tech mags on the shelf at the supermarket and ALL of the content is outdated. Youtube is extremely competitive and anything new is there within 24 hours of announcement - for free.

Anyone who has done a little research about the ID team will know that this is natural and inevitable. These 3 guys are so close to each other that it's no surprise that they would leave at the same time. Leander Kahney's book on Jony Ive discusses the problem that many of the ID team people have been there for a very very long time, and that transitioning to a set of fresh new designers would be a difficult thing to do.
