Seems like a believable date. I don't think I've known a year before where there are more leaked cases to verify the rumoured new design. I recall seeing a picture of some cheap, unbranded iPhone 12 cases in Best Buy but just this morning I saw a collection of iPhone cases on Moment's website, all showing shipping in "Mid-October."

I know that September 30th was visible for a split second during the iPad video so many people thought it was the day for another event, but we're less than a week away and they haven't announced it yet.
Mid October seems reasonable, about a month after the usual September event. They talked about iPhones been "a few weeks" late and that would be 4 or 5 weeks.
I just wonder if the Pro will be really late or just a couple of weeks after the 12.

The big news is the 5.4" version.

Technically this looks like a mostly ho-hum update, but many of the faithful have been limping along on our SEs and 5s for SO long. Don't get me wrong, big screens are gorgeous (love my iPad Pro), and if I spent all my life in a carpeted office building where you've usually got both hands available, I'd buy the biggest iPhone available too. But those of us who live active lives (kids, dogs, playing ball, running, rock climbing, etc.) the oversized form factors are just nonstarters. (Steve Jobs told y'all so!)

I only wish they would seriously think of offering a 5.4 Pro. The idea that *size*equals*premium* is so very 1980s Gordon Gecko . . .

Yep, pisses me off that they think "pro" means big. (Such a 1980s version of luxury thinking.) I want all the bells and whistles, but I want it small enough that I can carry it everywhere while doing everything and use it one-handed. Big screens are gorgeous, but that's why Apple makes the iPad Pro.

I phoned EE last night trying to get an update on my Apple Watch order, the person I spoke to was blaming it all on Apple not producing enough. Without me asking he said the same will happen with the iPhone 12 which goes to pre-order on the 14th October and delivery on the 16th October. Which aligns with this rumour as the operators probably won't open pre orders until after Apple do (assuming they make them live straight after the event).

So you’re excited for them to tell you about the iPhone. 😁
Yes, very. Will keep the kool-aid nice and chilled for the event 😁

Jokes aside, I'm looking forward to this year's range, particularly the 5.4". I've had two Samsung flagships over the last 5 years and when the costs are amortized, the iPhones seem to be a better deal; not to mention OS support and devices still being fast >3y. I just hope the camera experience is up to scratch. I'm not fond of the wide primary lens trend, nor do I care for astrophotography/night sight as much as I do about lens distortion and colour accuracy.

Seems like a solid guess to me. The end of back to school promo period is Oct 12, just one day before the new Mac seems logica.

My wallet, and body, are ready!

Now to decide which size. I always go with the Max/Plus. But how much larger the 12 Max will be compared to my XSMax (entire body size, not screen) will have me either going up or down, but definitely the Pros.

Better be fast with those preorder fingers. Just look at the Apple Watch which I would argue isn’t as popular. Even the Watch has a delivery window at the beginning of NOVEMBER now and the new iPad Air still does not even have a date!

gimme that dark blue iPhone 12 Pro Max matching my Apple Watch 👏🏼
Yes this is why I wish they would go back to Midnight Pacific, so the dedicated won't be competing with the general public

I looked at the calendar last night, and this made sense. A 10/23 drop has leaked. Pre-orders 10/16. Event 10/13.

The bummer is the likely staggered launch of the standard and Pro versions. Just like 2017 when the 8 and X came out and the X debuted on 11/3. Hopefully the first shipments of 12 Pro Max units will be arriving no later than 11/6.
I'll just be happy if they announce features prices dates...for all four phones, even if pros are further out. Just want a solid date to count down to already

Me too. I already decided to take off work on preorder day and the day my phone will be delivered in my hand. I could send it the hub but that’s over 30 minutes away from my house. A few weeks ago, T-Mobile Tuesday gave out free UPS Premium memberships until the end of the year, which is prefect timing for me, since I can pick out a specified 2 hour window for free for my device to be delivered.

I think Amazon Prime Day will be October 13th - so much for trying to avoid a big event in scheduling this release.
