While I am genuinely happy with my 14 Pro and have no plans to upgrade, I know I'll be watching the 15 Pro presentation saying "damn, that looks so good" and wondering why my 14 Pro all of a sudden looks like an ancient piece of crap with its legacy lightning port, old school mute switch from the 80s and fat ass bezels. God help me. 😂

I do
And, brace yourself, I use a 5W brick.
Exhale slowly now.

Oh boy Apple's official yappy dog reports the official leaks he's given.

iPhone 15 is update not an upgrade not anything special unless your current old iPhone is showing it's age. With the economy the way it is only diehard Apple Fanboy Cult will be rushing to buy the 15.

Apple's main product lines have peaked and no big new must have features. Only real new product is VisionPro and that is an expensive niche product that hasn't built a developer base outside of Apple to interest the public. I wouldn't want to work in Apple Marketing for the next few years they got a lot on their hands to make incremental updates sound like big upgrades.

Smart phone tech peaked a few years ago. Until there's a major paradigm shift, most year-over-year updates are going to be incremental and that's true regardless of manufacturer.

But, for those of us that use our phones a lot, incremental updates are still a thing to look forward to and enjoy. :)

As for the economy, at least here in the US unemployment is the lowest it's been in over half a century (https://www.commerce.gov/news/blog/2023/02/news-unemployment-its-lowest-level-54-years), wages are now outpacing the rapidly cooling COVID-induced inflation (https://www.marketplace.org/2023/07/12/wages-have-started-to-outpace-inflation/). So, here, it's turning out to be a pretty good year. Will that translate to high levels of phone sales? No clue. I'm not an economist. But if the phone sales are sluggish it won't be due to the US economy.

Can't wait to see another state-of-the-art iPhone that I can't use because of the eye-bleeding PWM they use.
I’m doing it this year anyway. My 11 is painfully slow. Hopefully I’ll just learn to only use my phone when I really need it and stop wasting so much time on Reddit, YouTube, MacRumors, etc.

With so much focus on health it’s surprising Apple still hasn’t addressed these ****** OLED screens though.

I’m sure people will be camping-out at the stores to be first in line for a 15.
USB-C is replacing Lightning for the 15. So why can’t Apple just offer both options on the same phone?
The most notable change with the 15 will be it’s higher price.

Still rocking the iPhone 12 Pro.. working just fine. I do like the switch to usb-c.. I am stoked to finally discard the lightning and micro-usb cables and anything that requires them! :)

Might wait until the AirPods pro has a usb-c to finally switch iPhone though.

Was going to upgrade this year. But the 15 rumors make it sound like it isn't much better than the 14. Disappointing if this turns out to be the case.

Guess we'll see
I’m in the same boat, the main thing I would like is the periscope lens but not if it means having a huge phone. Apple basically lost me as an upgrade if it turns out to be true

still rocking my amazingly small iPhone 12 mini. I love the size but I’ll upgrade mainly to eliminate its biggest shortcoming - battery life! I simply need more battery capacity!

times are tough for a lot of people, a 15 mini with usb-c might sell better than people think
The only problem with that thought is the stats showing how the iPhone 14 plus outsold the previous minis. The greatly increased battery life was likely the main attraction. A iPhone 15 plus with an updated camera optics/sensor will only continue that trend. The SE 4th gen is where some of the iPhone mini features should move to, with possibly a display size increase. (4.7” vs 5.4”)

For the first time ever, I'm actually going to be refreshing the store page trying to get in an order for pickup on day 1 or 2 at a local Apple store.

Is the new iPhone 15 Pro especially exciting? Not really, but I would love to finally replace my iPhone XS before I travel for a couple weeks.

The 13 Mini has a lot better battery life than the 12. You might want to start there first if you like the smaller size. I personally consider battery life a top priority, so I'll always go with the most gigantic offering Apple has.

Nothing major this year if you already have PM 14. I am in the same boat, but titanium, smaller bezels, periscope lens, USB-C, and a slight processor speed bump is what you would get. I will have to see a substantial trade in offer for my tera PM 14 for me to consider upgrading and those features alone are nice but not a real jump. We shall see, I am hoping there is a little surprise for us, but maybe not. Would be the first year I didn’t upgrade.

I’m right there with you on using a 5W brick.
I am starting to think only 30w fast charging for a year drains the battery much faster than using the 5w. I didn’t think fast changing was supposed to hurt battery life as the iPhone has built in power management but maybe it’s all about that little 5w brick that charges a pro max in 4 hours lol.

Interesting, there were rumors that it could be delayed until October.

It's 50-50 whether I upgrade or not. My 12 pro max is still doing performing well, but I'll need a battery replacement soon. So do I just do the battery replacement, or do I swap the whole phone out with a new one? Decisions...
