Is Apple going to somehow say they've revolutionized phones since they're adding USB-C now? This company is always looking to get glorified for doing what everyone else has been since ever.
Just imagine if they only piece Apple changed for the iPhone 15 was the lighting port to USB-C. Heads would explode all over the internet.

I'm going to use my iPhone SE 3 for as long as it's supported, but I still get excited to watch these events and see what's new anyway.

Listened to the latest iP14 pro review on MR! Since than, I love my iP11 pro even more. Good batterly life, good and consistent photos, not too much AI blurring, lightweight (compared to the beasts), formfactor …

Even the dynamic island „innovation“ seems like a downside to me. So Apple will tell me that the iP15 is awesome, mindblowing and blahblah yadda yadda - but honestly there is a change that it will be the worst iPhone ever and iOS17 will be the most complex iOS ever, delivering tons of new bugs to the masses.

So should we really freak out, when TC announces the newest s**t and we all know that this won’t make our lives easier?

I’m sure people will be camping-out at the stores to be first in line for a 15.
USB-C is replacing Lightning for the 15. So why can’t Apple just offer both options on the same phone?
The most notable change with the 15 will be it’s higher price.
Some people are saying, the EU might get the USB-C and the USA, etc still have Lighting. The world shouldn't revolve EU why should it? BUT waste is a big problem producing for those that made it their laws. Apple has to build to its regulations.

Apple launching a new iPhone every September isn't really news or rumours anymore lol. Still those who are looking forward to it will be excited.
Will be interesting to see if they've done anything else with the notch.

I'll be keeping my 14 Pro 1TB because there is no point in paying more cash for a phone that looks like mine will have no noticeable difference in speed than mine because my brain cannot detect percentages in something thats aready stupidly fast, but has USB C and a first year titanium band, that they will perfect next year due to not having the best coating on the this years model possibly. Oh and a screen that has a smaller bezels than mine by a tiny amount, that with a case on I can't tell the difference anyway and a button change, yep seems like a perfectly good good thing to throw over £1000 at then after a few days realise I bought a USB C clone of a iPhone 13 pro or 14 Pro (I really did not need to update from my 13 Pro so lesson learnt)

I agree, the world shouldn't revolve around EU, but EU does actually do something to force companies in the right direction. Its a shame that its needed, if companies gave a toss they could solve it themselfs without EU having to create laws.
GDPR and privacy laws is another one that some countries haven't even started to look at. So there are som good things that can be carbon copied and just applied in other countries, if governments dared to do so.

This will be the first year since iPhone 6 where I won't upgrade. I've upgraded my and my wife's iPhones every year since the iPhone 6. She gets the regular Pro, and I get the Pro Max. This has made sense for us as we pass down our previous models within our family, giving them access to nicer phones than they would normally be able to afford.

But with the dwindling economy due to COVID, inflation and whatnot. Along with the rumoured price hike on the Pro models, I will have to give this a pass. Especially considering we don't live in the US, so every price hike tends to hit much harder for us compared to the US.

The move to USB-C makes perfect sense. I don't fathom why Apple has waited this long to do it. They were the first ones to push USB-C on notebooks. They essentially started the move to USB-C on computers. Yet they somehow refuse to do the same on iPhones. Even the iPad Pro moved to USB-C a long time ago.

I don't find USB-C superior to Lightning in any meaningful way from a physical standpoint. I prefer the way Lightning does it by having the weakest link of the chain on the cable, not the port. I've had plenty of USB-C devices where the plate with the pins inside the port starts to lose its grip making the cables fall out too quickly—never been an issue with Lightning.

But the compatibility of USB-C is much better. It adds a ton of convenience when everything you own uses the same port. And the fact that Lightning is lagging so far behind on transfer speeds and capability, there is a valid argument for why Lightning needs to be replaced. With USB-C, you can do DisplayPort 2.0, HDMI 2.1, Thunderbolt 4, USB4.0, 100W charging etc. With Lightning, you are stuck at USB 2.X. It won't support anything Thunderbolt, it can't go beyond 30W or so charging etc. It's simply outdated in so many areas.

As I said above. Pretty much you restated that as well. My point was e-waste is the issue. I hope this EU "forcing the world " to do this would stop "saving the world" Bla Bla. The EU shouldn't tell the world what to do (that's why people don't like EU policies.) They know what is best for the world as the EU barks. This is the year 2023 not 300 years ago.

(if one doesn't read it's no wonder people misunderstand issues)

The only people camping out at the stores are workers and delivery drivers.
There are way more than just swapping out a port in the phone.
Phone market is pretty matured so nothing surprising will come out of them hardware wise.

Finally upgrading from my 5.8” iPhone XS. Every year I was considering upgrading only to hold off for another 12 months. But USB-C, smaller notch (dynamic island), larger screen size, and the fact my battery is down to 76% max capacity is plenty to get me to upgrade. And earlier this year I got 15% off a bunch of Apple cards. I’m thinking red iPhone 15 Plus.
