Apple updated their site and it now says Limit 2 Per Customer... I hope they allow the earlier orders for more go through

I placed my order through AT&T 2 hours ago and it was smooth! Got two emails from AT&T to confirm the order and the other that says it was processed and sent to warehouse for shipment. They also charged my credit card already for a whopping $432.99!

The iPhone 5 is not targeted at enthusiasts who want the latest technology. Apple left that market long ago, while still giving lip service to anyone who would listen.

Apples now like Walmart, it's about selling to the average Joe en masse.

Despite the hype, it's just a mass market phone.

Hmmm.... what the heck are you talking about? Walmart sells most of the popular Android phones including the Galaxy S III and Note. Exactly what phone on any major carrier is not meant to be a "mass market" phone? The only non-mass market cell phones I can think of are the custom made ones like the ones high level WH staff use.

The second I got the email confirming my order my credit card sent me a fraud alert email at the same time.

I wanted to place an order for two phones, but there was a banner saying that only one carrier activated phone can be purchased at a time. Did that, but only got a confirmation email for the second order. Both are in my account history on Apple's site though. I hope they both come!

I think this image is in order for all of those who thought they could just wake up now and order the iPhone 5....

They put a hold on it. It's not actually "charged" until shipped.

I received two emails within 5 minutes of ordering. Places mine around 4:20am EST. Setup a brand new account. Second email already had my phone numbers listed and told me their is no cancelling the order at this point. I wonder if there will be a day early delivery on some of them that slip through the system. Verizon had that happen didn't they with the iPhone 4?

ATT is giving me heartburn. I ordered over 3.5 hrs ago and only received an order conf, but no "processed" email.

I just placed my order through Telus. I had initially planned to buy an unlocked phone from Apple, but after doing a little reading, it seems pointless if I am not going to travel or switch carriers.

I'm hoping that I got in early enough to get the phone relatively soon. I'm not dying to have it, but it would be frustrating to have it delayed.

After spending the last hour trying to order via AT&T this is what helped me.

Use this URL: https://www.att.com/phoneupgrade

It seems to be streamlined just for the iPhone 5.

It took me forever through AT&T's normal site to place an order. Then, when I finally clicked submit, it went to a standard page, with no order confirmation email being sent. To make matters worse, I logged into my account and it said there were 'No Orders' but noted that orders placed within the past 24/hrs wouldn't show up there.

But I went through the process again with the link above, I guessed that if anything would stop me from re-buying the same upgrade it would be my Upgrade Eligibility. I'd wager AT&T updates that more frequently than anything else, through that link I was able to order my iPhone 5 in under a minute.

And also note, apparently if you order online the phone must be shipped and billed to the name and address on the account. It's silly, but that's how it works sadly.

Ugh what a mess!

They're not allowed by law to charge your card until it ships. They usually ping the card to ensure there's enough credit, but it shouldn't be a transaction until it ships.

Check your spam folder. Perhaps the 2nd email got directed there after subsequent emails from the same address.

Yes. That's absolutely correct. It's just a hold.

I'm genuinely curious why someone would need to order more than two unlocked phones in the first place.

It happened to me last year with the 4S. Got it a day early.

AT&T ordering

I was the victim of 1) not updating my address after moving from Michigan to Denver with At&t. Since I pay my bill electronically, I have no need for a billing address, but when I checked out at Apple -- or tried to -- it wouldn't let me change my shipping address, meaning it would only ship to my old residence in Michigan. I tried everything for like 30 minutes. No luck.

And 2) - so I went to AT&T.com, but there system was down! So I couldn't change my address. I finally said screw it. Woke up around 5 am MT, changed the address (it let me now) and ordered my iPhone.

It says that I should receive it on the 21st, but I haven't received any other shipping notice and it has been about an hour and 20 minutes. My guess is that they are out of supply.

Can I cancel and fight the crowds at the Apple store?

Same thing happened with the iPad launch, by the time I got to order it was 3 weeks delay...

I walk in a store Sunday (less than two days after launch) and I get one.

So don't loose hope folks!
