AT&T worked for me with no issues at all. Not one hiccup through the ordering process. Received two emails within 5 minutes. Second email had my phone numbers already listed.

AT&T's website was hit-and-miss. I got in once but then got kicked out and couldn't get back in. I ordered from the iPhone app in the nick of time to get it on the 21st.

When the AT&T site and Apple site were not opening by 3:02 I went on the IOS app on my phone and got right in.

My confirmation email is time stamped 3:07am

The App was the way to go this time around.

Im using another upgrade within the family plan and all I had to change was the phone #. Of course I have to goto the AT&T store to have them switch it over to my phone#, done that a few times before. Man I know the line will be killer but at least I will have the phone and once I get to the AT&T rep it will only be a few minutes to get it switched. :D I must say they have improved in their knowledge a lot in the last few years... at least by me.
You have to go to the store I was told I could do it over the phone.

Say what you will about Tim Cook or how Apple is without Jobs around, but there are very few product launches that keep people waiting up late at night to spend a few hundred dollars. Not to mention the activity on multiple forums at such a late hour because of the anticipation and excitement for a product. Those are things Apple continues to do.

I can't upgrade until September 27th of next year so you guys will have to let me know how it is. I am not paying $300 more to cancel a contract.

This is Apple creating the illusion that its super popular, and demand outweighs the supply. Meaning that they all sold out in the first hour means they limited the stocks to create this. Kudos to Tim Cook, he is a sales guy.

No, Cook is an operations guy. If anything, his tendency would be to have plenty of stock. You make money selling product, not illusions.

If my email says "Available to ship: Delivers 9/21" - Does that mean I was able to make it for the first wave?

Took me 30 mins to order, and was finally able to order around 3:30 set

Yes, you got in to the first wave. The orders didn't start to slip until shortly after that.

I own 30 shares of Apple's stock so I am staying up just to see how well it sells. I have the 4S and not breaking a contract although the 5 looks sweet.

Status Change

Should be. Wait for a bit till your order summery page (link in email) says processing. If it's still saying 9/21, you should be golden.

Any idea how long it takes to move to processing order? Status still hasn't changed for me.

Thanks

Hour 1

OMG...Apple may have sold 5 million phones in the very first hour. In the middle of the night. The stock is going to go parabolic tomorrow

If I recall correctly, it took the 4S until morning or afternoon time to start to slip. This release is going to be massive!
Well they've probably put a large number of phones aside for release day purchases in Apple Stores, VZW, ATT, Sprint stores, as well as Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc. In the past its been way more limited places than this (meaning more stock available for preorder).

I'm guessing that stock will make you quite happy when Apple announces how many phones they sell over the first 12-24 hours.

Time

What time did you get it in, and what did you order?

Am I missing something?!
I didn't get any emails and yet when I use the app, I can see the order summary and the number.
I'm confused. It's been more than an hour already:(

att says my account is not eligible for upgrade until september 25 even though i haven't had a new phone since the day the regular iPhone 4 came out and it says contract has ended when i check the contract status on my account on att.com WTF?!?!?!?!

I had a similar problem a month ago when I called to get my iPhone 4 unlocked. AT&T said that my iPhone was registered only a year ago, while at the same time acknowledging that I had received it more than two years prior when my contract had begun. They finally relented (10 minutes into my customer service call), deciding that the contract itself was the final answer to the time frame question.

I hope so. :) I bought 30 shares back before Jobs passed away and the stock was only $365. It is up 92% for me in about one year. Can't complain too much.

Pre-Ordered. 2 week ship time but I'll take that over waiting on line for hours on the 21st.

Let the waiting begin.

AT&T's site kept hanging on various screens for me but I just kept clicking continue / place order and it finally went through after a long time.
