Business and Premier customers are prioritized at AT&T.

I ordered about 30mins ago and will arrive on Friday.

Did you get the 6? If so, that's why. The 6+ is the one that's delayed. I ordered under Premier and my 6+ is saying within 21-28 business days.

Pretty sure it's 1GB, which to me is disappointing. iOS could really benefit from an increase to at least 2GB. Apps are getting larger and more demanding and the hardware is going to bottleneck at some point.

I really wanted to get a 5.5" iPhone but I'm just not impressed with the hardware. Still dual core, no 2K resolution, still the same 8MP camera from the 4S and paltry amount of RAM. I mean this is 2014 going into 2015 and Apple is pushing out a phone spec'd for 2012.

Bring on the 6S.......
Because all 8MP cameras are the same to you.

iPhone 6 looks like another iPhone 4, same specs with more pixels. Can't run iOS 7 on it for lack of RAM and CPU. Tick, Tock. iPhone 6 S doubles RAM and CPU.

I don't think the screen is a fair criticism either. I agree with the rest. I'm sorry but what kind of eyes do you have that need better than 400ppi?

True. But it's one of those things that still can be criticized by a few I suppose. We'll have to wait and see how good the display is. If it's really a significant improvement from the previous generation in colors, contrast, etc, it'll be great.

It's not even remotely the same camera from the 4s. I went from the 4s to 5s this summer (smashed phone so I couldn't hold out). The camera is WORLDS better than the 4s. The 6 won't be a game changer, and yes I'm disappointed that they didn't go to at least 10mp but it really is a good sensor and megapixels aren't the only thing that matters.

For the rest of the phone you can't compare the stats to those of android because they are not comparable. That 2.4 ghz quad core snapdragon in android phones barely edges out the a7 in benchmarks. This is all down to iOS using resources better. You CANNOT compare android specs to iOS specs, they are not comparable due to the differences in the OS

I'm so tired of the DUR HUR SAME MEGAPIXELS MEANS THE SAME QUALITY crowd.

Once you've over 6 or so, it's not the number of pixels that counts, it's the quality of the pixels. How much light each can gather, noise level, and so on. A good example is that an 8MP professional SLR will completely destroy a cheap 8MP pocket digicam ANY DAY. (And destroy the iPhone's camera too!)

Megapixels mean little these days. Pretty much all cameras have enough pixels to make a sufficiently sharp image. It's all about noise per pixel and light sensitivity these days.

People need to get that through their head. We will preach it til the end!

Don't know why I am surprised

You'd think Apple would do better research about what people will actually order. The ATT site went live for me at 1:58am Central. I was done with my order for a 6+ Gold 126GB at 2:02am. Got an email that said 14-21 days. When I got up, I had another email telling me Oct 22nd.

Seriously?

Yes. (Not interested in the larger size.)

I would have ordered from Apple, but the app would only allow the gold version to be selected, and I wanted space grey.

I only asked because i ordered from ATT 15 mins earlier than the official pre-order 2:40am EST to be exact. And still got a shipment date of 10/02-10/13. Either the plus is in high demand or lower in stock.

Just want to say I agree with you.

I have the OnePlus One which is the same size and resolution. I can't see any pixels unless my noise is touching the screen(doing this also makes the eyes hurt). I'm hoping the 6 Plus will have a brighter screen, better colour vibrancy and less reflection under the sun.

The iPhone 6+ seems to have been delayed before it was even for sale at AT&T
I ordered mine 3 minutes before it went live and I still have a 14-21 day shipping estimate.

Soon you'll be able to access your order to make the change in Apple.com. Be patient. I was able to do it on the 5.
I got through to access my order and it said I can't due to "the policy of your wireless service provider." Seems like it's different than with the 5

Join the club, i ordered mine 20 minutes before it went live and got my conformation at 2:44am EST and still got dates of 10/02-10/13 :p

i agree mostly, but higher RAM makes a difference in refreshes and such, and it matters to many people. i was pretty shocked they didn't bump the 4.7 and go even higher than the 'possibly-maybe rumored' 2gb on the 5.5. this iOS8 better be frickin magical and stop blanking out pages on my 5S when i browse more than 1 tab in safari, assuming that it's iOS8 that truly matters. the refresh action is getting old and i'd personally like an improvement here. y'know, like anyone else who owns a smartphone that apple doesn't make.

why did anyone order from the carrier? this happens every year where their stock runs out in seconds and people who ordered through apple get their phone.

it's like you people like flogging yourselves

You're a customer of the wrong company if you're pissed off about specs. What's gonna happen is that every one is going to complain about specs, the phone will come out, everything in it will be well reviewed, the phone will get the highest ratings on every website and it will turn out that the specs don't matter much as long as the phone works well. The screen, although not 2K will be praised for its accurate colours and deep blacks. The A8 will be called crazy fast. The camera, yet again, will be called the best on any smartphone apart from maybe those mad Lumias. The only legit complaint is the RAM because of the reloading but who's betting they're gonna push out multitasking in iOS9 and it somehow magically works on phones back as far as the 5S? Probably.

I'm wondering if they can't just use compressed memory for the cache as well, sort of how they do in Mavericks. This might be something coming in future iOS releases.

What is the general consensus with sales? Will they be better or worse than in the past? I think people are upgrading less and less.

Everyone must be creating posters of their pictures. That is the only reason you would need more than 8 MP.

Sure are a lot of whiners here today. Last time I checked this was a phone, not a choice of life or death.

Mix of both. This is the same story every year, people should be used to it by now. They up numbers and production each year because the last year they were overwhelmed. And each year they are overwhelmed again. It's just the nature of the business, it's not unique to Apple so I don't know why a lot of ignorant folks are pretending it is. I've experienced the same with other smartphones (my wife prefers Android).

You either accept it, or you go back to basic phones. (or choose smartphones no one else is interested in at all)

android phones have more RAM to handle all the bloatware that ships with the phone that you can't uninstall and that runs in the background. it's not like any of it used on anything useful

I only ordered mine from ATT, because for giggles i tired to log in 20 minutes early and it let me. I was waiting for it to eventually lock up and never did . So i went for the gold thinking i was slipping in early

ROFL - here's that to the idiots saying its too big, it wont sell, Apple will never do this, ....

Had the same issue as the rest of the UK bods here. iOS app responsive around 8.25 but showed all models as currently unavailable. Website came up around 8.30 and scored a gold 128GB 6. Confirmation email at 8.39 quoting delivery on launch day.

Whilst the delay was irksome it'll matter not one jot when for the first time in a decade I'll be able to get all of my music on one device - last time I could do that was for the iPod Photo 60GB. The 6 announcement had me at 128GB, price be damned.

Hoping that the reservation/virtual queuing is extended and works for everyone else planning on store pick ups: the fun and camaraderie of the early morning queueing for the iPhone 4 seems to have given way to gangs of scalpers and hostility in recent years, to the point of police being called to the Manchester Arndale store either last year or the year before.

Sympathies for those who's chance came late, or like one of my friends, ordered a 6+ at the earliest opportunity but have a 7-10 day wait minimum. It'll be worth it when you get it.

That sucks. I would hope that it's not a case of something getting screwed up because it went live early.

But yeah, looks like the Plus is in really high demand.

Personally, I ordered last year from Apple, literally the moment the 5s went available for order. Got the base space gray. Emails came from Apple every other day or so until it got up to 8 weeks. Didn't get it until the last Friday of November. The experience wasn't all the different than when I ordered through my carrier with the 4s, and so it seems to make little difference and the deal through my carrier is better. And I don't mind the wait. So why not?

...no 2K resolution...

Bring on the 6S.......

Other have rightly taken you to task for many of your points. I will add another.

The 6+'s screen effectively is 2K. When people talk about 2K and 4K, they are talking about the horizontal resolution, not the vertical resolution. A 1080p screen, which the 6+ has, is 1080 x 1920. It's the 1920 one looks at and says (effectively) "2K". True, it's not 2048, which would technically be true 4K. However, in practice, especially at this screen size, the difference is meaningless.

No different than in consumer televisions where everyone uses UHD and 4K interchangeably even though the resolutions on these are 2160 x 3840. Obviously 3840 is shy of 4K (even more so than 1920 is to 2K) but it's used as such.
