Pretty sure it's 1GB, which to me is disappointing. iOS could really benefit from an increase to at least 2GB. Apps are getting larger and more demanding and the hardware is going to bottleneck at some point.
I really wanted to get a 5.5" iPhone but I'm just not impressed with the hardware. Still dual core, no 2K resolution, still the same 8MP camera from the 4S and paltry amount of RAM. I mean this is 2014 going into 2015 and Apple is pushing out a phone spec'd for 2012.
Bring on the 6S.......
I'm wondering if they can't just use compressed memory for the cache as well, sort of how they do in Mavericks. This might be something coming in future iOS releases.
Easy there... Here's a crazy thought... Maybe we have a different situation than you do, like, you're on a temporary assignment for work, and it ends on September 30, and you don't want your $1000 phone shipped to an address where you aren't going to be, so having a web promise of 9/29 works, but 10/1 doesn't. Oh yeah, you also have a job that doesn't allow queuing outside the store.
Add to that your wife says that you can get this phone, or an iPad, and you know that the better iPads are coming in a month, so you don't want to get stuck with last years iPad and an iPhone 5 for your drive across the country with 3 kids under 9 years old.
Then again, maybe you're in that exact position, so you can "poo-poo" comment like this with authority.
after spending an hour in the middle of the night i wake up to see that I could have just ordered the same phone and got the same delivery... sigh
I ordered the 6+ 64GB space grey at the vzw store at 8AM. Says 10/21 shipping.

right but they can't just let the entire stock be open to only the online people. They had to have allocated a percentage for stores they partner with.
LOL.
Yeah, my wife got up at 6am, ordered her 64GB model, ETA of 9/19 and went back to sleep.![]()
Anyone with reservations from the middle of the night in the US getting emails to complete your order? Any better ship dates?
Yes. And stores come in an order too. Not all get stock on release. AT&T are the priority, and the others follow in an order. The smaller stores for a given provider also, may or may not receive ANY stock on release. It's happened before that the AT&T store here in my town (I don't use AT&T but friends do) didn't receive any shipments from Apple at all until the month following release.
Not every store gets stock at first. Only priority providers, and then, only their priority store locations.

Technically there were no preorders last year.

It's 1GB. Anandtech said that the leaked Geekbench appeared legitimate since it matched Apple's claims on the keynote.
why is AT&T the priority? what?
The gold phone is available for delivery on the 19th - However, I just learned that some features are not available in the T-Mobile version and they include: Barometer and WiFi AC.
I immediately canceled my order and now i'm wondering if Apple will sell me an unlocked AT&T version and have it activated at T-Mobile.
The information was provided as a side by side comparison on Apple's website and for some reason and maybe I didn't want to hear it; image stabilization is not available on iPhone 6, only the plus option offers stabilization.
Does anyone know for sure if some features like the Barometer and AC will not be available on certain carrier devices?
I'm going to try not to fret or fuss about it.
I tried to get onto Apple.com at 5:05AM EDT and it was down. AT&T.com let me order a 6+ 64GB in Slate Grey. The order appeared to go through.
However, I still have not received a confirmation email and subsequent checks show AT&T still says I can upgrade my line. I do, however, have a $1 hold on my CC so something went through. I do not know my delivery time.
I am not calling anyone or fussing for at least 2-3 days.
Did you really think that all the providers were equal? For example Sprint sells less than AT&T. Sprint has less customers than AT&T. Sprint is a lower priority than AT&T.
It may have changed, AT&T may no longer be their top wireless partner, but even if it has, there's still an order there.
Whoa, good for you. I work right across the street from Grand Central. I hopped on NJ Tranist this morning and checked the app. No stores (neither in NJ or NY) were showing them as available. I had to order the 6 Plus this morning with a 7-10 day delay. I was hoping for an in-store option, but I didn't see anything.
I got two confirmations. Uh, they don't make sense.
my wife's, for 6, 16GB gray, says:
Order Date: 09/12/2014
Deliver By: 10/07/2014
They said 9/19/14 for sure.
mine, 6+, 64GB gray, says:
Order Date: 09/12/2014
Deliver By: 09/12/2014
LOL. So I should have it today?

why did anyone order from the carrier? this happens every year where their stock runs out in seconds and people who ordered through apple get their phone.
it's like you people like flogging yourselves
I did notice on the poll on 9to5 that it was pretty even between the iPhone 6 and the 6+. I don't think Apple predicted the 6+ to sell so well, and they might end up with an overstock of iPhone 6.
