Awoke at 2:50 AM Eastern from some shall we say nasty side effects of antibiotic I'm taking for bronchitis and sinus infection. Figured I would try to order a 6 Plus at that time. Apple Store was down and App store only got me to selecting a phone, choosing carrier for upgrade and then just died. Finally went back to bed at 3:30. But up at 7 AM and was able to order 6 Plus, 32gb, gray for 9/19 pick up at Grand Central store. Ordered via Apple website and no delays or glitches. Showed 3-4 weeks for shipping but pick up available at 4 NYC stores. No Northern NJ stores showed available for pick up.

I'm going to try not to fret or fuss about it.

I tried to get onto Apple.com at 5:05AM EDT and it was down. AT&T.com let me order a 6+ 64GB in Slate Grey. The order appeared to go through.

However, I still have not received a confirmation email and subsequent checks show AT&T still says I can upgrade my line. I do, however, have a $1 hold on my CC so something went through. I do not know my delivery time.

I am not calling anyone or fussing for at least 2-3 days.

The iPhone 6+ seems to have been delayed before it was even for sale at AT&T
I ordered mine 3 minutes before it went live and I still have a 14-21 day shipping estimate.

Same here, my actual receipt says Sept 11, 2014. I ordered 15 minutes before launch. and I have an Est Delivery date of 10/2 -10/13

AT&T order here, 3:08AM EST everything was through, 14-21 day shipping time.

My question- is that 14 to 21 days from 9/19, or from today?

EDIT- Scratch that, order page is now updated. First one for the wife comes 10/13 - 10/22, mine will be 10/31 to 11/12, must've been the hot one- 6+ Space Grey 64GB

Boo hoo. It's a preorder on a phone that's probably going to sell 80 million units by the end of the year. If all you have to worry about is that you have to wait a few weeks on a new phone then you don't have a lot to worry about.

Queue outside a store on release day if you're that desperate.

Easy there... Here's a crazy thought... Maybe we have a different situation than you do, like, you're on a temporary assignment for work, and it ends on September 30, and you don't want your $1000 phone shipped to an address where you aren't going to be, so having a web promise of 9/29 works, but 10/1 doesn't. Oh yeah, you also have a job that doesn't allow queuing outside the store.

Add to that your wife says that you can get this phone, or an iPad, and you know that the better iPads are coming in a month, so you don't want to get stuck with last years iPad and an iPhone 5 for your drive across the country with 3 kids under 9 years old.

Then again, maybe you're in that exact position, so you can "poo-poo" comment like this with authority.

I ordered mine at about 2:40am EST from AT&T. Although i did get my conformation rather fast. They did put a $1 dollar hold on my card before eventually taking out the $45 tax for the NEXT program.

android phones have more RAM to handle all the bloatware that ships with the phone that you can't uninstall and that runs in the background. it's not like any of it used on anything useful

well, that's also partly true, but i've seen that they can return to a browser page and the info they have entered (or location in an endless page of text) remains. i'd call this useful, especially when you're me and it causes annoyances on a weekly basis based on the content i browse for personal and professional use.

My brother got a 29th delivery date from ordering at launch but managed to reserve a unit at an Apple Store in London, this afternoon, for Friday pick up. So it looks like reservations may still be possible at some stores here in the UK.

Struggling to find that option - if I click through to a store (MK) then pre-order the iPhone it sends me back to the shipping pages?

Scratch that - found it. No 6+ anywhere for reserving. Wonder if any have made it to the UK in the first shipment?!

Whoa, good for you. I work right across the street from Grand Central. I hopped on NJ Tranist this morning and checked the app. No stores (neither in NJ or NY) were showing them as available. I had to order the 6 Plus this morning with a 7-10 day delay. I was hoping for an in-store option, but I didn't see anything.

why would you drive across the country with 3 young kids? just take a plane

why did anyone order from the carrier? this happens every year where their stock runs out in seconds and people who ordered through apple get their phone.

it's like you people like flogging yourselves

I've been wondering this too. Unless people have some specific situation where they can only order through their carrier, it makes no sense. People who order through Apple almost always get their phone on the promised date and almost always the first hour or so of orders get launch day delivery.

You can't change some things...

You can't change the number of phones they physically made, and complaining about it won't make more phones magically appear out of thin air.

Personally, I ordered last year from Apple, literally the moment the 5s went available for order. Got the base space gray. Emails came from Apple every other day or so until it got up to 8 weeks. Didn't get it until the last Friday of November. The experience wasn't all the different than when I ordered through my carrier with the 4s, and so it seems to make little difference and the deal through my carrier is better. And I don't mind the wait. So why not?

with apple if you don't get the pre-order, cancel your order, wait a week after release and they will do the nightly store reservation system

How about this. This is the situation on EVERY release, with EVERY smart phone/tablet/computer that is in demand. Not just Apple. Always. It never changes, and it won't change. If you take that estimated delivery at face value and you've done this before, you're not very observant. And if it's your first time ordering a high demand product at midnight on launch, welcome, and remember it next time.

I love how people are complaining that its only an 8mp camera. Do any of you know that less mp is better on smaller sensors. The more mp the nosier the images will be. Heck my old Nikon D40 6mp dlsr blows any 10+ mp camera out of the water. I wish I could find a point and shoot camera with 8-10mp and a 20x zoom.

It's not even remotely the same camera from the 4s. I went from the 4s to 5s this summer (smashed phone so I couldn't hold out). The camera is WORLDS better than the 4s. The 6 won't be a game changer, and yes I'm disappointed that they didn't go to at least 10mp but it really is a good sensor and megapixels aren't the only thing that matters.

For the rest of the phone you can't compare the stats to those of android because they are not comparable. That 2.4 ghz quad core snapdragon in android phones barely edges out the a7 in benchmarks. This is all down to iOS using resources better. You CANNOT compare android specs to iOS specs, they are not comparable due to the differences in the OS

Reading through the one page spec sheet to review a hardware is Android style market whereas iOS crowd cares about actual user experience big or small.

How long has google claimed Android is now buttery smooth and have instant response with quad core CPUs while there are still lags here and there?

I don't mind the wait at all. But that's a good suggestion. However the nearest Apple (or carrier) store to me is about a 4 hour drive, so I'm not bothered enough to do it. It's just a phone, lol. Good idea for others though!

ridiculous. I got up early and got to the VZW store as the first customer. Shipping 10/21. BS.

iPhone 6 and T-mobile

The gold phone is available for delivery on the 19th - However, I just learned that some features are not available in the T-Mobile version and they include: Barometer and WiFi AC.
I immediately canceled my order and now i'm wondering if Apple will sell me an unlocked AT&T version and have it activated at T-Mobile.
The information was provided as a side by side comparison on Apple's website and for some reason and maybe I didn't want to hear it; image stabilization is not available on iPhone 6, only the plus option offers stabilization.

Does anyone know for sure if some features like the Barometer and AC will not be available on certain carrier devices?

Because I couldn't be up at 3AM to order online, and I needed to do some account work with the VZW person in store, and will be trading in our old phones.

Apple kept the pixel count of their photo chip about the same on purpose - so they could make the pixels larger - because its larger photo chip pixel size that gives you better low light performance (and why the massive DSLR's chips have relatively low pixel counts for their size, but great low light performance). The chip in the 6 is brand new and the 5s was new as well and a huge improvement over the 5 - and Apple camera performance always rank at the top when photo sites do comparisons in performance.

Over in Android world things devolved to a PC type specifications race to the bottom with high pixel counts (on the same size photo chip) being perceived as "better", when in reality, for performance, its worse.

Hardly. They are subject to the same stock as everyone else. You went to the store as the first customer, but people/companies were ordering them since midnight, all night. Not to mention the other VZW stores across the country that also had first people in line.

Pre-order the minute they went live and told 3-4 weeks (UK)

I was helped by one of the Apple store specialists (who was great btw) as he generated an order for me minutes before the store was available online and sent me the link - I placed the order immediately - they must have had no stock at all of the 128GB models as I was told 3-4 weeks.

Very disappointing when you make the effort to "get in there first" -

Ordered (from the UK) an iPhone 6+ with 128GB....

right but they can't just let the entire stock be open to only the online people. They had to have allocated a percentage for stores they partner with.
