suchs a *****ty order process!
I got stuck ordering a 128GB that I didnt even want to get the order through. All others were showing unavail.
Just to find out this morning that there are 64GB ready to ship on 9/19.
I would change the order and save $100, but I dont want to risk screwing anything up

Anyone know if I can keep my AT&T pre-order until at least launch day (if not shipped already) and then cancel it at the store if I can find it there? Just wondering if there is a certain time frame that cancellations must take place.

Anyone ever do this before?

Let me know if you find out. Might do this myself next Friday. My order says 10-2 - 10-13 ship date. :(

So why not walk into the store on release day rather than preorder? lol.

Probably because I'm not able to because of my hours and hectic life. Besides thats not the point, I'm the one doing diligence, being responsible and preordering, not my slacker friend.

I've been wondering this too. Unless people have some specific situation where they can only order through their carrier, it makes no sense. People who order through Apple almost always get their phone on the promised date and almost always the first hour or so of orders get launch day delivery.

Maybe some people couldn't get to the Apple website? On multiple browsers? For over 90 minutes after "launch?" But could get through to their carrier site without any particular issue?

Maybe people tried the Apple Store App too but got an error message upon selecting ATT Next saying that people who primarily use their phone in NY (as I do) cannot order Next online through Apple and must go to a store? I got this message multiple times, as did a local cousin. May have been a glitch, but it was happening.

Did anyone actually get a silver 128gb+ delivered 9/19 from apple.com? I was up at 245am refreshing for an hour and it slipped to 7 days when I finally got in at 345

Megapixels mean next to nothing!! Get this number chasing out of your head. Sensor > MP count. All day long.

So true! Megapixels are important to an extent, but 8 is a really great number and there's really not much of a difference between 8MP and 13MP. The important thing with megapixels is the size of the pixels. Bigger ones are better, because they can take in much more light and create better pictures. That's why my 5S still takes better pictures than the new galaxy devices from this year... haha

Megapixels DO mean something!

But just like Retina displays, once you hit a certain threshold, there is no need to keep increasing.

8 MP photos are more than big enough. Apple's focus is driving the quality of that 8 MP photo higher and higher.

It's not even remotely the same camera from the 4s. I went from the 4s to 5s this summer (smashed phone so I couldn't hold out). The camera is WORLDS better than the 4s. The 6 won't be a game changer, and yes I'm disappointed that they didn't go to at least 10mp but it really is a good sensor and megapixels aren't the only thing that matters.

For the rest of the phone you can't compare the stats to those of android because they are not comparable. That 2.4 ghz quad core snapdragon in android phones barely edges out the a7 in benchmarks. This is all down to iOS using resources better. You CANNOT compare android specs to iOS specs, they are not comparable due to the differences in the OS

Actually, if you count single core performance, the A7 was still ahead in september. That's the one that really matters in most use. That's the one Intel has mastered so well and that AMD can't catch. The A8 performance per watt is FANTASTIC.

Tech or Demand?

So do folks think this was a massive tech fail on the part of Apple? Or was this mainly just incredible demand? What would count as incredible demand? 5 million pre-orders? It might be fair that just no order system can take in 100,000s of orders per hour. Or maybe Apple just did a bad job on this one, like they screwed up their streaming of the keynote.

In my office of ten people, four pre-ordered this morning, and two guys (myself included) will be ordering in a few weeks (we are switching providers and need to pick new plans which is probably best done in store). One person is slight on the fence about upgrading from her five. Seems like pretty heavy demand.

Pretty sure it's 1GB, which to me is disappointing. iOS could really benefit from an increase to at least 2GB. Apps are getting larger and more demanding and the hardware is going to bottleneck at some point.

I really wanted to get a 5.5" iPhone but I'm just not impressed with the hardware. Still dual core, no 2K resolution, still the same 8MP camera from the 4S and paltry amount of RAM. I mean this is 2014 going into 2015 and Apple is pushing out a phone spec'd for 2012.

Bring on the 6S.......

Other than the 1GB, the other complaints aren't really valid. Dual core on the 64-bit architecture holds its own against everyone else's older quad-core designs and puts out less heat, meaning it throttles less. Apple doesn't participate in the megapixel wars since it focuses on improving the sensor, which has a bigger impact. They have made a number of improvements this year. 2K resolution wastes battery and so the tradeoff is worth it IMO until we get other efficiencies.

Not Silver but I got it in Space Grey. I gotta pick it up though.

That's not a RAM issue. It's a bug in Safari - albeit a longstanding one. Reboot your phone and you'll find Safari lets you run multiple tabs no problems, but over time it starts to do the annoying refresh thing. Fire up Chrome on the same device and open a dozen tabs with no refresh issue. 2GB won't help this bug. It still happens in iOS8.

Why doesn't that work on the iPad Air? Same problem with Chrome and Safari. There is never a time when it runs multiple tabs without reloading.

I am holding out on this release. I will wait to see it in stores and hold it in my hands. Maybe then I will like it enough to trade in my 5s. If it feels okay with one hand I will buy simply for the Apple Pay which is an exciting update. Bigger screen - meh. Spec bump - meh. Camera improvement - maybe but not really enough to upgrade.

Bring on an iPad update -- that will getting me camping out in front of the store if it has Touch ID, an integrated keyboard cover and mult window capability (one can only dream at this point).

The iPhone 6+ seems to have been delayed before it was even for sale at AT&T
I ordered mine 3 minutes before it went live and I still have a 14-21 day shipping estimate.
Same for me and my husband but with a 21-28 day wait. And he got in possibly a minute or two even before you did. That was for 2 space grays @128 GBs

Struggling to find that option - if I click through to a store (MK) then pre-order the iPhone it sends me back to the shipping pages?

Scratch that - found it. No 6+ anywhere for reserving. Wonder if any have made it to the UK in the first shipment?!

I should have mentioned he reserved a iPhone 6 64GB in Silver.

why did anyone order from the carrier? this happens every year where their stock runs out in seconds and people who ordered through apple get their phone.

it's like you people like flogging yourselves

i wanted to do Verizon Edge so I could upgrade early - and Apple has not yet made Edge available online, so Verizon was my only option. From what I've read, I was finished ordering and asleep long before Apple's store was open.

In other news, Verizon's preorders actually began a few minutes early: I had logged in and just refreshed my screen to keep it from signing me out and there was the preorder button a few minutes before the hour. I was able to place my order, get a 9/19 delivery date and a confirmation number by 3:02. So far, I have not received an email pushing out my delivery.

.

It's probably supply, and unknown demand. It takes a lot more capacity to build the larger phone, and since they never sold one before they don't have much to work with in estimating demand. Samsung sells more S5s than Notes, and so I assume Apple expects to sell more iPhone 6s than 6 Pluses. But the mix is tricky until actual sales data comes in.

Is this a real thing you just said? What would you have done then if Apple decided not to release the iPhone 6, say, until next month or the month after? You'd have to wait, wouldn't you? I stand by what I said. If you can afford these things and you have time to complain about waiting for them for a while then you don't have very many worries. Instant gratification is destroying us. It's destroying us so much that you, a genuine, real life human being thought that that comment was a good counter point to someone being told to hold their jets for a couple of weeks and wait patiently for their expensive smartphone.

I can't find a violin small enough for your story.
Maybe you should find out where he lives and go kill his kids. Will that shut you guys up?

Not surprised

Apple has a way of creating frenzy. I'm guessing Apple new all along they could never meet the demand. Remember the shipping delay's of new Mac Pro's.

And we all forgive Apple.

Yeah I saw people picking them up haven't seen 1 person say they got a silver 128+ delivered on launch I settled for space grey last year cause silver was sold out not doing it again

Unfortunately this may sound a way other than intended. However, you should've just been patient and only ordered what you wanted. Rather then just getting what was available at the time to get 9/19 delivery date.

On the flip side I'd rather have more space than less. I went with 64GB 6+, 128 was tempting though. Especially with this screen size. I can easily see myself loading up full movies to watch where I never did that on any other iphone. That alone will take up a ton of space.

I'm leaning toward building up hype... Mainly because Apple foreseen that previous iPhone owners that moved to Android because of the large screen. Will be coming back to the iPhone.. basically they will be getting tons of new customers with this particular launch.

It's not as if they are implementing new technology that was ever seen in an a phone period.. yes it will be thinner. NFC, 1080p & OIS has already been implemented in a phone before. And we have seen this mock ups for months now. I tend to think this is all about hype.

I have to use my companies VZW business page. I tried from 2AM-330AM before given up. I finally got on it this morning and all the 6 was still 9/19 but all the 6+ are 10/7 or later. Glad I am not in a hurry. Ordering the 6+ 128GB
