This was such a botched release compared to the iPhone 5 launch. It was a pain in the butt trying to get through last night but luckily I did and got a 64GB Silver 6+.

Has anyone tried to access their order status on Apple's site? I keep getting an error message "We're sorry. Something went wrong with your request." I would like to change my shipping address.

"WE'LL BE BACK" THIS :apple:PRE ORDER WAS A NIGHT MARE .I..:apple: I was up all night and at 3:45am I got my order but is set for 3-4 weeks shipping.!? I don't understand how the hell :apple:server crashed.!?

I am so ******** angry man I have no words:mad:last time they did this **** I was done and purches an hTC :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Maybe some people couldn't get to the Apple website? On multiple browsers? For over 90 minutes after "launch?" But could get through to their carrier site without any particular issue?

Maybe people tried the Apple Store App too but got an error message upon selecting ATT Next saying that people who primarily use their phone in NY (as I do) cannot order Next online through Apple and must go to a store? I got this message multiple times, as did a local cousin. May have been a glitch, but it was happening.

Sure. I ran into the exact same issues. But given that the carriers hardly get any launch allocation, wouldn't it make sense to exhaust your tries with Apple first? I think a lot of folks just want the instant gratification of that order confirmation.

Didn't bother trying last night, but this morning Tmobile doesn't seem to work. When I go to the Cart page, it gives me an error every time. Want to buy on their payment plan, can't do that from Apple.

do you need a hug?

I ended up getting the 6 64 gold since silver was sold out, or at least showing unavailable. I'll have to see if I can find someone to trade.

So do folks think this was a massive tech fail on the part of Apple? Or was this mainly just incredible demand?
It's the demand. And people in the heat of trying to be the first to purchase this device don't rationally think about it. Or they simply don't understand the "law" of supply and demand in the first place, perhaps due to age.

Apple sells so many of these devices the first week, it is completely unprecedented (other than previous iPhone releases) on this planet. There are no solid rules when you blow right off every chart.

I've seen several posts where people couldn't get the silver. I wonder if Apple went heavy on the gold and light on the silver since the gold sold out so quickly last time?

No man I don't need attention but to be up all night for nothing...why you don't go back to apple store and give everyone a hug and a kiss because it look like you very submissive how this pre-order was carried by a bunch of idiots at :apple:

Pretty sure it's 1GB, which to me is disappointing. iOS could really benefit from an increase to at least 2GB. Apps are getting larger and more demanding and the hardware is going to bottleneck at some point.

The 1GB issue becomes a real problem once the resolutions go up as we saw with the iPad Air and Mini. On the iPhone it's not as impacting because of the much lower pixel count, but now that the resolutions are getting higher, it's going to be concerning, especially on the 6+. On the 6 at 720P, who knows.

Still dual core

So?

no 2K resolution,

You mean eating battery life, performance and memory with no real purpose like the Lg G3

still the same 8MP camera from the 4S
How many phones take better photos than the iPhone?

and paltry amount of RAM.

Valid concern.

I mean this is 2014 going into 2015 and Apple is pushing out a phone spec'd for 2012.

In 2012?

So you are saying you'd take this...

I ordered two from Verizon at 6am PST. Both the Space Gray 16 GB and Silver 64 GB have a deliver date of 9/19.

I tried ordering last night at 12:00 PST, but I kept getting an odd error. Went to Verizon's FaceBook page and lots of others were getting the same issue. It looks like their site didn't really start working correctly until about 5am PST.

I'm leaning toward building up hype... Mainly because Apple foreseen that previous iPhone owners that moved to Android because of the large screen. Will be coming back to the iPhone.. basically they will be getting tons of new customers with this particular launch.

It's not as if they are implementing new technology that was ever seen in an a phone period.. yes it will be thinner. NFC, 1080p & OIS has already been implemented in a phone before. And we have seen this mock ups for months now. I tend to think this is all about hype.

I meant more about how the store crashed for lots of people. Was that a tech fail or was it just the reality of crushing demand? Is it possible that 10 million folks tried to pre-order between last night and this morning? Or is a number like that just out of the realm of reality?

Awoke at 2:50 AM Eastern from some shall we say nasty side effects of antibiotic I'm taking for bronchitis and sinus infection. Figured I would try to order a 6 Plus at that time. Apple Store was down and App store only got me to selecting a phone, choosing carrier for upgrade and then just died. Finally went back to bed at 3:30. But up at 7 AM and was able to order 6 Plus, 32gb, gray for 9/19 pick up at Grand Central store. Ordered via Apple website and no delays or glitches. Showed 3-4 weeks for shipping but pick up available at 4 NYC stores. No Northerjn NJ stores showed available for pick up.

Hmmm. So you bought a 32g device?

I was helped by one of the Apple store specialists (who was great btw) as he generated an order for me minutes before the store was available online and sent me the link - I placed the order immediately - they must have had no stock at all of the 128GB models as I was told 3-4 weeks.

Very disappointing when you make the effort to "get in there first" -

Ordered (from the UK) an iPhone 6+ with 128GB....
I was refreshing the UK Apple Store page and bingo about 8:35am was able to select a 6 Plus 128 (Slate Grey) and got my confirmation email by 8:39am. It is currently "preparing for shipment" for delivery next Friday - so the UK had a good few for release day.

A bit worrying that for about the next two hours after the order, checking my order said "We're Sorry. Something went wrong with your request. Please try again later." but it sorted itself out. Looks like I was a lucky one.

I am both an Android fan and Apple Fan. I have a Note 3 but just ordered the 6+ 128GB Gold. Personally the Nexus line of recent only have cost going for them. Yes LG built the Nexus 5 but it is gutted LG G2. Smaller battery, camera and no OIS. Instant pass when you do that.
Sure you can get it no contract for $349 with no SD slot. At least with iPhone's you have the Mophies Space Pack.

People need to disregard specs its how the phone operates. My iPhone 5 on Beta 8.0 has no sluggish issues but mean while my Note 3 with 3GB has lag at times and app failures. So what does specs do for me then?

Well, if I was given a choice between tech or demand. I would lean toward tech.. mainly because the Apple Store was down for hours. And the App Store App was up.. people were able to get preorders through the App instead of the Apple Store although it was difficult. And when the site finally came through.. the 6+ slipped in shipping.

Cool story bro.

I struck out on pre-ordering last night, so for those who have lined up on launch day, I have a couple questions:

1) in general, how early do you need to get in line?
2) is there a limit to how many iPhones you can buy? I would need need one for me and my spouse.

Thanks.

ATT has already said they have hundreds of thousands of orders. So it is demand, not a conspiracy.
