Wow, they didn't even improve on this design which is universally lambasted by both fanbois and h8tes alike.

Sorry, I am tired of all the blogs making excuses for Apple. This is LAZY and greedy, period. I don't care what is coming down the pipes at Apple, Apple took a dive this year on R&D knowing there are millions of idiot consumers that will simply buy anything "new" from Apple. iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 were quick and dirty ways to boost

This is a 1/2 trillion valued company who is spending less on innovation then companies like ACER, ACER or Huawei or One Plus. Its shameful in all honesty, this company has not pride anymore, just blasting out old designs and fully taking advantage of their naive consumer base.
It's an accessory. Apple accessories have rarely had best-in-class aesthetics.

I get that people think it's ugly, but why does it drive a person to be angry about it. The look isn't the most pleasing, but for me it has positive features: It doesn't add a lot of bulk, If feels great in my hands, it really prolongs that battery for frequent daily use, and I only need one cable to charge it along with the phone. My only complaint would be how warm it gets when the phone is used heavily. Another odd-ball thing, and maybe I'm the only one, but I've seen the phone battery drain even when the case isn't fully depleted. Usually when I'm using the phone excessively.

But that uses up a cycle on the internal battery. It's also less efficient to recharge a battery. The way Apple designed it, you first drain the external battery.
i understand that, but thats just not how i like to do things. If I'm going out for the day would rather know that later on i can turn my case on if i need to rather than oh **** my case is already dead and my phone is nearly dead. its how i always am. i carry around my 21000 portable anker charger and i plug it in when i need it, i don't keep my phone plugged in charging all the time.

All function over form. Or rather form is function, function is form. No wonder Apple is overrated. This thing is too ugly to use. My brother uses a battery pack and it's really tough to get on and off and he actually cracked his phone display trying to get it off once but it looks really nice and cutting edge. Unlike this piece of crApple. It's easy to get on and off but yuck.

I like how the Mophie does is backwards. Drain phone. Then turn as battery pack as needed to recharge.
But as I pointed out, that wastes a cycle on the internal battery, and recharging the battery from another battery is less efficient than simply drawing down power directly from the external battery.

If both your case and phone are depleted, it doesn't matter which one was depleted first.

First off, am I the only one who dislikes the silicon material? If they had a leather variant of this case I would be on board if it were in a darker black colour. And not to forget the ridiculous design...

I was hoping that dropping the headphone jack would allow them to redesign this product drastically whilst reducing the bottom chin bezel, I guess they were lazy. And where's the Plus model...

- "lazy apple" is a troll trope. they arent lazy.

- the plus never got one because it already has a huge battery

because it's a battery pack, you want to save it when you are running out. Why are you charging it when it's full?
Also the most efficient charging is when the battery on the phone is below 20%

But if you deplete the external battery first, you still have a fully charged internal battery. The firmware also directs recharging for optimal efficiency.

youre using it wrong -- you dont want to do that. it has better charging smarts than the manual on/off battery cases youre used to. this was detailed in the reviews last year.
this same "courage" was displayed in the keynotes again this year

I can't believe after the first one that they didn't change the design. One of the most ridiculous looking things I've seen Apple produce.

first the haters bag on apple for being form over function, now they bag on apple for function over form. you just cant win with haters.

if you want to understand this case and why its certainly not crappy, educate yourself here:

The fact that they make an OEM battery case should really tell them that the battery in the iPhone is clearly too small...

Congratulations Apple you've played yourself yet again.

Side note: I'm still loving iOS 10!

Silicone cases - hate them. No, HATE them. It's sticky...picks up grit and dust...never acquires any sort of character from handling. With most of the iPhone cases you have the choice of leather. I really wish the iPad cases were still leather.

Hello Quasimodo.

Seriously this is ugly.
I can understand the need for extra juice when you are out doing photos or videos but the most effective way of doing so is buying a small external battery back and carry that with you.
Many of these offer 8000mAh or more, the ability to charge another phone or an iPad at the same time.
Sure you have to use a cable from your phone to the external battery but it's really not so much of an issue.
