Have you used a 3G?

This should surprise NO ONE. You're laughing about something that was obviously going to happen?

The 3g is is what 2 years old now, I can think of maany MANY phones that could do multitasking and such in 2008/2007/2006... why cant the 3g/1g?

Time to upgrade!

LTD, no doubt you have been posting on both macrumors and appleinsider during the event, whats your secret? Copy or paste or individual treatment to both sites? You must be fired up right now!!!!

Smart for Apple not to give a date/month. "Summer" is very vague and gives them some leeway. Summer could mean September. Fall could mean November.

I think they got burned by their March prediction for ipad.

Hey what ever happened to the tethering that was promised "soon" in iphone 3.0? Or am I dreaming? Did that actually get stated last year?

Fall!?!?!?

It really sucks that the iPad won't get the new features till fall. Especially since many of these will make the device much more like an actual computer. :(

Complain, complain, complain. Piss, moan and whine. Entiled entitled entitled. Is it ever enough for the haters?

No, it really isn't. Never mind that practically everything anybody has ever complained about, ever, has now been addressed. Except for, you know, the big rotting, maggot-riddled skeletal dead horse that is Flash.

No multitasking on my iPod touch? Not on the iPad until fall?
Damn Apple, a big bag of disappointment there at the end. Now I am seriously questioning my pending 3G iPad purchase.

Why? Because you won't get it when you think you should?

FINALLY everyone can stop complaining about multitasking. There wasn't anything more annoying than that. I am personally stoked about the multitasking, folders, and I know it's lame, but changing the wallpaper for springboard. Folders will change the way I use my phone... It will be nice to shove off those default Apple apps I don't use into a folder :)

Printer Support?

Where is the easy to use printer support? Not everyone has an HP printer!

No new notification framework. Nothing like those popups. Apple really failed on that one.

If you look at the picture slide from the beginning it clearly states that there are notification enhancements. They didn't tell you or demo about ALL the features last year of 3.0 during their preview either. They said nothing of video for example. They chose to highlight 7 things only. They keep the rest for the into of the new iphone.

These changes will convince more users to upgrade their phones, even if they grumble about it. And Apple makes more money.

iAd (crap), Folders (ugly), Lockscreen (none), Wallpaper (congested)

Let me break it down for you:

iAd - crap...if you're not a dev, it's just garbage cluttering up your phone. out of the 85 million iphone/itouch users....how many are devs? that's right, not many.

Folders - these folders showing multiple icons looks hideous. at least make the "folders" look like folders or something more clean and presentable. not an icon with 4 little squished icons in it to represent a folder. very un-apple like in the design department.

Lock screen - nothing...nada.....no useful lock screen, no tweat to the notifications, nothing. this is where apple really needed to focus their attention, not multi-tasking. super fail apple.

Wallpaper - this works on the ipad because there is a huge screen, but when you take a small screen like the iphone and clutter it with tons of apps and then throw a background pic in there....it looks like a MESS!

the whole iphone is becoming a congested mess.

no bueno dude

Do they run the iPhone OS?

Version 3 already makes the 3GS stutter. I had zero belief that it could be made better by throwing MORE tasks at it.

The jailbreak possibilities will be amazing!! Thanks Steve!

I hope the exploit the DevTeam are keeping under wraps will work...

I still think it will be sluggish on the 3GS.

Hmm kirikae does a pretty nice job, even on 2G and 3G.

I think it's a bit of a crock that the 8GB iPod touch that people are buying now won't be able to run this, I mean I understand the hardware issues but I expect many won't. Also sucks for all the people still buying the 3G.

I've always thought that Apple's continuing to sell outdated hardware next to the new stuff (and in the case of the payg 3g without even the decency of a price drop) was pretty dodgy.

Anywho, no love for the 2G. I'm not surprised (but since I jailbreak, not bothered), but I wonder how many will cry bloody murder over it.
