I’m sure most people will look at this move as simply a greedy move (which it may partially be), but if Apple truly feels the future is wireless, it makes sense to eliminate the adapter and continue to push things forward. Imagine if Apple had included a USB floppy drive with every original iMac sold - it would have undercut their message that the floppy is dead.

The jack is also missing from the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 boxes...

I imagine there are still some in the stock pipeline with the 3.5mm adapter if you hurry.
The red 8+ seems to be gone too but there are probably some still around too for a little longer.

Good about the headphone adapter. It looks so silly and wireless are overall more convenient. I do not miss the tangle at all, especially in the winter with coats.

USBA doesn't make sense at first, but then again people would complain they need to use an adapter or buy another cable for USBC to A.

I'm guessing that the next one won't have a standard charger since they'll just assume everyone is using their wireless chargers. Which, in my case, is totally accurate. The only thing I use the cable for is Carplay.

I've never used the jack adapter either. I wonder how many people use it.

I think this is more about pushing people to buy Bluetooth headphones like AirPods than it is about saving money from bundling an adapter. (Which they do save money on over the course of hundreds of millions of iPhones.)

I think that would only happen if they bundled a wireless charger, which is a possibility if they got rid of the Lightning port. They just include the essentials with the phone, and people wouldn’t be too happy having to buy an extra accessory just to charge it.

I’ve been headphone jack-less for a year and I’ve used that dongle zero times.

REALLY?? You cant even include something as cheap as that on a phone that cost this much? Surprised you haven't included a USB C cable and got rid of the USB A all together yet... No real synergy across your lines.

The headphone jack adapter is one thing, but it’s even more crazy that they didn’t include a USB-C to Lightning cable and a fast-charger. A 5W charger included on a flagship phone in 2018 is unacceptable.

Fast chargers are cool but degrade the battery faster, and the majority of people aren’t using USB-C yet. They’ll make the transition eventually.

I still find it so funny you guys think APPLE is the epitome of "greed." lol. Really? Out of all the companies out there, Apple is the greediest? smh.

I saw this coming that day they remove the 3.5mm headphone jack.

I’m an audiophile and have not been happy with this decision since.

In all practicality that jack already ruined the sound coming from the 3.5 mm analog to be then pushed through digital compression that degraded sound.

I'm not an Apple user anymore. You raise a good point that i never thought of before. Even within their device ecosystem, there are these incompatibilities.
Yep, got an iPad a week ago, Same there. Stock-Apps differ in Design and functionality, there isnt even a calculator on that...

I hate the lack of headphone jack. Been with the 8+ for almost a year now and I still carry a dongle everywhere I go.
