So I've got a game that's relevant, but non-spoilerish.
What announcement/news would a company, group, person have to have to overshadow today's Apple announcement(s) (and yes, obviously there is a range that this announcement could take)? In other words, what out there could generate more "buzz", i.e. internet searches, discussion, not just news stories?
---One rule (besides no spoilers). The event must not include any deaths. It would be too easy to make it be a list of tragedies and catastrophies.
I'll start
---Windows 8 will be released in February (It would be such a huge, and unrealistic, surprise, that it would eclipse whatever Apple is doing)
---Google and China have come to an agreement to allow Chinese citizens unrestricted access to the internet.
---Blackberry... goes out of business. I can't think of any other announcement that would overshadow Apple, unless perhaps they bought Palm Inc.
---Barack Obama gets an iPhone... and shows everyone how cool it is during the State of the Union.
---The Senate votes down Ben Bernanke's reappointment as Chair of the Federal Reserve (amazingly, Apple might get more press initially, but than the stock market would lose 1,000 points)
---J.K. Rowling announces an 8th Harry Potter book.
---James Cameron announces a sequel to Avatar.
---Lady Gaga announces that she bought a shirt from the Gap.
---Joe Biden releases his memoirs, which contain approximately 2,500+ pages of direct quotes of the Gaffes he has made since 2000.
---Sarah Palin... sneezes.
