It looked like there could (for real this time) be a Beatles announcement... Unless that blob that took up half the screen wasn't the ghost of John Lennon.

I KNEW it! Apple isn't releasing a tablet, they are releasing a Yellow Submarine iPod!

@DocNYz

Could you please edit your last post and write something like "dont read the message below. it contains spoilers" in big letters into it?

I didnt read the message itself, but the reaction that came after this post looks like there ARE spoilers in it.

I read his post and didn't consider anything he said spoilerific. Really, you should read it...

Hello everyone!

As I promised, I have a small surprise for you spoiler-free veterans. :) I bring you, the Spoiler-Free Keynote Checker*! It's a script I put together that'll automatically check Apple's website for the keynote stream, and it'll post a spoiler-free link directly on the page. It'll save us from frantically clicking the reload button for hours! The script checks both the Quicktime stream and the iTunes podcast.

Keep in mind this is still in beta, and I would appreciate your feedback.

* Patent Pending.

Can you understand that you are posting in a SPOILER-FREE thread?
We don't want to know what is happening right now at the event.

We don't care about anything related to Apple for the following 2-3 hours. :p
We are just here to help time passing...

Sansara, perhaps you skimmed over my post to avoid potential spoilers and missed the point. It is clearly a SPOOF. A JOKE. My point was to make, from seeing a second of a video of such bad quality that it told me absolutely nothing , to make as over the top ambigous a statement as possible. Clearly there IS a presentation, by a human, and the laws of physics are still is place. If anything, it's a reverse spoiler (ok, the Bill Gates line was just a joke, but an impossible one nonetheless).

Like you said "We are just here to help time passing...". I'll even avoid talking about apple's in trees or pies.

Doc didn't say anything bad.

Onionperson pretended to, but it was all joking.

We have to wait 10 minutes? As you probably recall, when it gets close to the time that we all expect it, we'll be wanting to refresh every second!

Regardless, I hope Apple gets its act together and live broadcasts future events.

Void! Glad to see you're back, mad appreciation for the script, how will we ever repay you?

 Great idea voidness! Thanks for this :)

ah well ..so it was a fake-spoiler, ok

the problem with fake-spoiler is: it looks like a real spoiler, so people might not get the joke because they dont read it and therefore curse the guy posting it for having posted a spoiler.

however ...gratefully this wasted about 10 minutes of my time now. keep it going :p

I was planning on going Spoiler-Free but we watched news about this for about half of Economics class last period so… :D

Yes, I could adjust that once it gets close. I'm mostly worried about overloading the server.

Also, you could just leave the page open in the background while doing something else. It'll alert you when it gets the links.

Thanks Voidness! Let's see if your script is going to properly catch the link in time. I have also opened http://www.apple.com/podcasts/apple_keynotes/apple_keynotes.xml which I presume will be the right place to check after about 2 hours.

I have searched in Apple's site for that page that had all the recent keynotes but I didn't find it...

Oh DAMMIT. Just loaded up my local newspaper web site and splashed across the headlines "APPLE ANNOUNCES NEW (Product name)" C'mon! I'm trying to kill time till I can get home and watch. That's it, I'm not leaving this thread for the next 3 hours!

Guys, this is a "Spoiler Free" post, so lets keep the spoilers out... but what do you consider a "spoiler"?

For example (using made up scenarios), saying "I saw a frame of Jobs holding something" is NOT a spoiler (IMO, of course). So what if Jobs was holding something? It might have been an old iPod that he was comparing to the new device, or it could be his remote control.

Saying that there is a new device is NOT a spoiler. It is assumed (if not explicitly stated by Apple) that there is a new device being introduced today.

Saying "The name of the new device is the iCrunchPad" or "Wow what a big screen" ARE spoilers. Don't do it!

Remember that we are all Apple fans here, and while some will try to distract the conversation to the weather or apple pies, I have done this enough to know that the conversation will stay centered on Apple and the keynote. So if the first two scenarios above were spoilers to you, then go lock yourself in your room for 12 hours and only come out when you get the Spoiler Free link e-mail from MacRumors.

Thanks for listening to my rant. =: >

Change of Subject

To change the subject and kill time/gather information, how many of you have FiOs and for those that do, how is it (and where is your rough location)?

I have a class at 7.30pm, hope that the stream is up well before for me to watch it. No way, I can get through class without a spoil ... :-(

I live in North Texas and we have DirecTV... we HATE IT! Once our contract ends (a few months) we will be moving to FIOS. Have heard a lot of good things about it!

imho, this spoiler-free thread simply means: "I dont give a damn about whatever is actually happening at the keynote. So just keep it shut and leave us alone discussing about anything but the things actually going on there" ;-)

Cam I say what it's NOT going to be called?

Good old Irish television... Our news service, RTÉ, just had a report on the 6 o'clock news (Irish time, GMT like) and stated a name for the potential new Apple product. Having read other news websites, I know that RTÉ's idea for the name (which they said was definitely going to be its name) was wrong, so very embarrassing for Irish Apple fans...

By the way, I don't see this as a spoiler, as I didn't actually mention any names or products, but at the same time we all know what they're going to release, let's face it...!

whats an FIO? :p

I'm from Zurich, Switzerland. 8.25 pm here right now. Hope to get the keynote around midnight ...and killing time by reading stuff and watching tv-shows I downloaded earlier ;-)
