Free at last. I had to jump in here away from all the potentially accurate rumors and photos. I don't want to be told about the creations by Apple.com or some riff-raff rumor monger :p I just want to watch Steve Jobs change the world again. Tease me Steve! I want that 'one more thing' like a carrot on a stick. WWSJD!

But seriously folks, lol, I've been pretty spoiler free since..oh about 2000 I'd say. I'd have been...13. I used to watch the live streaming quicktime. That was the *****. Although it was annoying when it didn't work plus the video quality was crap.

I've mostly just lurked around here reading the spoiler free thread for someone to post the link. Cause we all know it always shows up in here first.;) Thought I'd say hi this time.

So, hi! I'm Cody and I'm and Apple fan boy and a follower of the iJobs. The tablet computer with a replica of Steve's mind in every box, which when linked via the internet forms the iCloud or SteveHive™. Ascending Steve Jobs to his rightful place in eternity... lol.

I love to wildly speculate but I take this spoiler-free stuff seriously and I am clear about that to the people around me. I've warned all my friends, family and co-workers not to tell me whatever they may hear. I'm going to keep off AIM, twitter and facebook. I'm going to preface phone calls with strict warnings and non-disclousure agreements.

I am not a violent person, but I am going give the first ass kicking of my life to anyone who spoils this for me!.. lol.

Rumors getting more accurate

I would start keeping away from the rumor sites... Their predictions get closer to the real thing as the event gets nearer, and more people get to handle the gadget, the ads, web pages or any other info about it. Remember for instance the name Macbook Air was out a few hours before it was introduced...

To be fair, Apple themselves had hung banners all over the place announcing "there's something in the air" which kind of gave the game away.

If you ask me, though, I think that "iPad" is pretty much a dead cert. "iSlate" lacks something.

As a UK user, I'm hoping that Apple get the stream up before too late. 10am PT is 6pm UK time; give an hour for the event, that's 7pm, hopefully Apple will get the video up before I have to go to bed!

I think neither of them sound right. Especially iSlate. Perhaps 'Mac Tablet'? We'll have to wait and see, there doesn't seem to be a consensus in the rumours surrounding the name.

Anyone know the answer to this:

In the past what has been the lag time between the keynote and posting the video?

I believe the last few have taken 3-5 hours after the end of the keynote to get online.

Ya know..

.. I don't think I even trust this thread to not be spoiler free. Once your eyes have scanned over the words, it's too late..!

I've been following the apple world for just on a year now.. still yet to buy my first mac (was holding out for the iMac all last year but I'm now waiting for the issues to die down).

All the keynotes in that year I've followed using the live text streaming here. This one is big, so I'm going to try and go spoiler free and wait for the video.

It's gonna be hard.. but the good thing is a) I'm housesitting and have to go back to my own place to get on the 'net, and b) keynote starts at 7am here (NZ), so I'll be sleepin for most of the wait.

Exciting!

hey all! I'm Jhonny from Lebanon, I've been an Apple fan since after the 1st gen iphone got out with all its hype, (but couldnt afford it) and I really became a fanatic/loonatic/freak about apple in that christmas 2007 when I got an ipod touch!! :D

anyway, since then I've followed the keynotes by blogposting and twitter, etc... even though I WOULD LOVE to be spoiler-free until I watch the keynote, (I'm literary spoil-o-phobic) but its a no-go for me cz the internet here @ home is kinda slow, and the bandwitch is limited, so i cant download/stream anything big... :( :( and by the time I've finsihed downloading the 1GB something keynote (if i manage to do so after a couple days), tidbits of the keynote will be all over the internet, radio, tv, friends, family, etc...

I've been counting the days, hours and minutes for this event coz it'll be the first time Apple introduces a ground-breaking device (if it does) while im on board the apple-fan-train! :(

so, any reasonable solutions for me?:eek:

PS. just so you know how spoilophobic i am, last summer i was watching harry potter 6 in cinemas, with a couple of friends of mine. i've already read the books a zillion times, but my friends (and i assumer some of the people in the theater too) havent read them so they dont know how it's gonna end.... so around half way across the movie a guy behind screams loudly "snape kills dumbledore!!" I just went bersek jumped out of my chair and swung my fist right into his fat face!!!! it felt soooo good to shut him up! but the virus had already spread...

I'm pretty sure this tablet will not be included in Apple's Macintosh line of products.

Well, its the first time I write here, but I've been following these spoiler-free threads since 2006 or so and I haven't had any problems at all, always able to watch the stream without knowing anything.
I am not a violent person, but I am going give the first ass kicking of my life to anyone who spoils this for me!.. lol.
Yeah! Sure I'm here if you need help breaking legs! ;)

But, can't you load the keynote stream? I mean, say 4, 5 hours after the keynote, here it will be a link to the video stream, you don't have to download it, you can see it streamed, and its worse quality than the 1gb video you download days later, so maybe your bandwitch will be enough. Can you watch a youtube video? If so, I think you will be OK. I have a pretty crappy internet myself, my DSL is around 1024Kbps and I can see the stream just fine.

ThE.MeSsEnGeR: By the way, I haven't seen that Harry Potter movie, so, thanks!!

It's OK, I haven't seen any HP movie or read any HP book (yet), but I've been spoiled that way already before. I think a Conan O'Brien joke spoiled me that, but him I can forgive.

that's the thing if i try to stream it, it'll just cut off every couple of seconds, and it would just not work that way, cz ill be all excited and stuff, and then the damm thing would say "buffering... please wait" urgh....

anyway, im on DSL too, but guess what speed? 256Kbps, and thats considered kinda fast here, (cz u know, we're still in times where the internet is just only for emails and chatting) :(

ooooooookaaaaaaaaaay....... that was awkward for a moment... im soo sorry! i just gave an example of harry potter cz thats the one thing im freaked out about apart from apple, and i figured ppl here are not that much of hp fans.... so im really sorry!!!!!!!! :(:(:(:(

lol, coco... :)

In other news... TOMORROW IS WEDNESDAY! :D
Time to end all contact with the tech world for the next 48 hours!

Don't, is no big deal, I'm planning to read the books eventually but, as I said, you are not the first to spoil me this same thing so, don't worry, I'm reaaaaaaally spoilophobic too about a lot of things (spoil me The Dark Tower 5, 6 or 7 and I will track you down and bleed you to death, no ofense ;):D) but HP is not one of those thinks, so I'm OK.
Anyway, maybe you should edit your last post, maybe the next one to read will be pissed off.

Mmm... I don't remember what speed I had in 2006 but I don't think it was a lot more than 256Kbps... I'm from Spain so, I'm a master in slow DSL :D And I watch streamed keynotes back then.

So the only thing I can tell you is recording, I think I've never been able to do it properly but, you could try recording the stream with VLC, QuickTime Pro or any soft that does this. If that way you can download the stream in a few hours you have a chance, hope you can.

just for curiosity, isn't there like a live video or audio broadcast?? i mean we're in 2010 for god's sake!

I know, right? They stopped doing that years ago. But I always figured they were just waiting for the technology to catch up with what they wanted to do. But I'd say we've gone beyond that point. I wish they would stream it.

ok guys... need some advice... everytime ive done this ive stayed on the tech sites right up until the event started... should i do that this time around or should i close everything down right now?

I'd like to go spoiler free for once this time too. I tried to at WWDC, but the keynote wasn't up in time for me. So I think I'll wait for it this time. But if I don't get it by 8 PM, I'll have to peruse the Apple site.

Anybody here have choppy HD playback? It always happens on my Mac mini, so I might give my Studio 540 a try this time around.

I'm personally gonna stick exclusively to this thread from now until the link for the keynote finally arrives; The closer it gets to the day of the keynote the more the cloudy, fun-to-speculate-about rumors turn to plain and simple hard-fact-leaked-early "rumors", and then it's just not that fun anymore and the excitement and anticipation go away. I mean, it's still amazing to finally get to see what's been announced and get the real facts after the keynote, but the surprise is gone and it's not quite the same.

Just my two cents.

For this particular event, I would try to spoiler-free until the Keynote if I were you. They are clearly going to release something big (aka it isn't the typical 'iPod' event or 'WWDC'). It's a lot more rewarding.

For those debating whether or not to be "spoiler-free," I suggest you do. It's so much more fun/exciting. If you visit all these tech sites before, it's like going to a movie where they put all the jokes in the trailer, you ain't surprised or impressed as much.

I "went dark" on Monday. It hasn't really been too hard, I'm a podcast junkie, so I just went back and grabbed some old episodes of my favorite non-tech podcasts and have been listening to that to fill time and keep my mind off of tomorrow.
