Of course they would say that. But why are you bothering even asking them? I use an iPhone with the iPad data plan right now. And yes, I'm using Skype and SIPphone for voice.
You don't even have to jailbreak, just have the profile emailed to you by that unlockit website.

Never heard of unlockit, I'll have to check it out when I get home (work blocks the website). Do I buy the sim from them? Never had ATT so I don't know how it works.

Starting time Europe

Getting a bit confused, does anyone know what 10am Pacific time is in BST (British Summer Time)? I'm thinking it's 6pm, maybe? :) Time zones always confuse me, sorry to butt-in.

- iLife Mystery App is a Make Your Own App Tool? Rumors of iLife '11 suggested a brand new app would be introduced with the iLife '11 suite. We've heard an unconfirmed whispers that the new app could actually be a way for end users to create simple apps and deploy them directly (not through the App Store) to their iOS devices. Is Apple returning to their Hypercard roots? It's hard to say how feasible this would be.
Whoa whoa whoa, how did I miss this? If Apple would open up their walled garden, and make a mac that I want to look at (ie, 13" without such a hideous black bezel) I might just drop my life's savings on a new laptop :p

I'd be happy with a 4.3" touch. The EVO has one big ass screen and I'm pretty fond of it my self. But I do agree theres no need for a 2.8" touch unless its the nano and has no wifi and such, other wise there would be too many ipod touch/ipad like devices around that all serve the same purpose.

The cases are for the shuffle and I'll laugh if the new shuffle colors are those same colors.

Just type "california time" (or whatever major location) into Google. They will do the time zone conversion for you.

I don't know what else to expect besides iPods, so my speculation is just going to revolve around those. First though, I'll explain my reasonings that this revision of the iPod Touch will be redesigned.

Original iPhone: Flat back
Original iPod Touch: Flat Back

iPhone 3G: Rounded Back + upped processor speed and added features
iPod Touch 2nd Gen: Rounded Back + upped processor speed and added features

iPhone 3GS: Same design as 3G + boosted specs and added Magnetometer.
iPod Touch 3G: Same design as 2G + boosted specs.

iPhone 4: Complete redesign, added a slew of new features.
iPod Touch 4G: Should be redesigned to mimic either iPhone 4 or iPad. More likely to mimic iPad.

Specs for iPod Touch 4G:
A4 Processor
Gyroscope
512MB RAM
Retina Display
Front facing Cam for FaceTime
16GB (3rd Gen), 32GB, 64GB capacities maybe limited edition 128GB edition.

<<Rear facing camera is still up in the air, if they redesign it right, they'll be able to get that in, but as of now I think it's just going to be front facing camera>>

Add'l specs if iPod Touch receives 3G: (unlikely)
GPS module
Magnetometer
3G (obviously)

Pricing for iPod Touch 4G:
16GB (3rd Gen) - $199
32GB (4th Gen) - $299
64GB (4th Gen) - $399
128GB (4th Gen) - $499 <- Highly speculative, most likely just rumor.

As someone noted earlier, the iTunes store was updated with new music releases as they do so every Tuesday. This is the only certain thing I am confident about. iTunes will be updated for something.

Everything else will revealed tomorrow. All this speculation has been horrendous and absolutely ridiculous. People are dreaming way too much lately. I expect many disappointments and I will be smiling with a grin on my face come tomorrow with all the complaints.

After thinking about that rumoured iPod Nano / Shuffle replacement with the small touchscreen for a while I suddenly realised today it might, just might, be the perfect device for me. Oh, not to carry around, the iPhone does very nicely for that, but as a player for the car. Allow me to explain:

I don't want a mass of cables trailing all over the car and have never been able to find a mount that I'm entirely happy with in terms of both positioning and safety of the device. That means using my regular iPhone is out as I'd need to be charging it at the same time and the current motor only has an AUX in port (i.e. headphone jack). Now if Apple can come up with a device that small which has, say, eight hours battery life and 4Gb of storage for a resonable fee AND that's light enough to mount straight to the dash (maybe with something as simple as a velcro pad) then I can custom-order a short audio cable and that's that. In-car MP3 player in the perfect place for either driver or passenger to quickly skip tracks, doesn't matter about charging on the go (if it dies on a particularly long journey then just switch back to CD) and, frankly, if it breaks then it's not a massive loss.

That's a very specific application but I could see there being a lot more of that type of scenario where a small touch device might work very very well indeed. Sorry, small CHEAP touch device. I'll be watching with interest tomorrow to see what they came up with (and of course to see if there's anything else coming down the pipe, Apple events are always interesting to watch).

Everyone else is doing it, so I will give my predictions.

Classic:
  • Keep the same and price at $229 or raise to 200GB and price at $249

Touch:
  • 16, 32 and 64 GB (128 is still to expensive)
  • 16GB will be third gen style and specs (with face-time camera added? they do have a spot for it...)
  • 32 and 64 GB will have new design (flat back), 512 RAM, gyroscope, A4 Chip retina display, face-time (thus microphone) and camera on the back (3.2MP?)
  • Priced as follows 16GB = $179; 32GB = $249; 64GB = $349

Shuffle:
  • It will turn into the weird 3 cm screen thingy
  • 4GB and 8GB
  • $69 and $89 respectively

Nano:
  • Let's make all the iPods ('cept classic) touchscreen now!
  • Basically a 2.8" 3G iPod touch (maybe face-time and bad camera on back)
  • 8GB only
  • $149

I know that I am probably wrong, but I do like my price estimates if I do say so myself...:p

  • 16GB will be third gen style and specs (with face-time camera added? they do have a spot for it...)

Then it wouldn't be a third gen now would it? The 8GB second gen is still being sold and it does not have any of the 3rd gen features (voice control, faster processor etc)

Looks photoshopped to me.

It is:

Album art on the sliver
Green lines around the bezzel on the black one

Nano:
  • Let's make all the iPods ('cept classic) touchscreen now!
  • Basically a 2.8" 3G iPod touch (maybe face-time and bad camera on back)
  • 8GB only
  • $149
On second thought, the Nano thing probably will not happen. If it doesn't and the shuffle and Nano combine make the prices $99 and $119

Looks photoshopped to me.

Easy Request for Steve

I can use my MacBook Pro or my MacPro to enjoy everything from the iTunes store except an iBook?
I hope an iBook reader is announced tomorrow.
I do not understand why it does not exist.

Build-an-app sounds great fun!

It would be a great way for customers to genuinely sculpt their own unique user experiences, and provide a good inroad for people who are mildly inquisitive into the commercial app developing process.

Kinda like the Android App Inventor

When do you think we will see these new iPods? I'm hoping for a surprise release tomorrow- is that likely at all?
