These rumors can’t decide if they are talking about AR or VR. Even within a paragraph they jump from one thing to another. Use physical keyboard and drink your tea/coffee while using VR desktop. Sure. Visor up, visor down, visor up, visor down. Totally user friendly.
I'm not sure we will see that this generation. There was just too much else for them to focus on, but that would be my dream headset. Super light and easy to flip up and down.

Is it weird that I want Apple to release this AR/VR headset in MacWorld, Moscone West, San Francisco? Where Apple announced the 1st generation iPhone in 2007.

I would've loved to have been able to attend a Macworld and see a keynote while it was still running. That looked like so much fun.

TWO HOURS? I'm okay with the price and the described feature set, but two hours of battery life?

Unless there's more to it, that's going to be a dealbreak for a lot of people.
Rumor was there would be MagSafe. If using for work, it would probably be plugged in most of the time.

The mac extension is definitely going to be the “killer feature”. I’m hoping it will apply to basically any apple devices (IE wireless keyboards, iPad Magic Keyboard, etc.) I should be able to sit in front of any of my computers, put the headset on and have that device available in VR with adjustable screens.

I’ve ”worked” in VR using my Quest 2, and honestly it wasn’t terrible, but the poor resolution was definitely the biggest issue. Give us 2x that resolution, a smoother UI (120hz vs 90), seamless connection experience, better tracking, easy fast charging (Just dump it on a nice looking dock) and I think it would be useful in a productivity context. If they don’t have the resolution, it isn’t going to work. Looking at a virtual screen should look just as nice as looking at a studio display in the real world.

Sounds like Apple’s take on Microsoft’s HoloLens.
Sounds like HoloLens is being de-invested. They were included in Microsoft's recent layoffs. Basically the same idea of the HoloLens, except the display tech is different and this one will actually work for more then toys. The HoloLens was too low resolution and had a tiny field of view so it wasn't very practical. It also produced ghostly images, so I can't imagine you would use that for real work. It was more of a research project that never got turned in to a real product.

Yeah, that seems low, especially given that the battery pack will be external, where size isn’t as big of a constraint.
Maybe 2 hours is the minimum if all the sensors are active, but when watching a movie or using it as an external display for the Mac you can get 3 to 4 hours.

From recent news, it appears there’s quite a large number of PC laptop using folk already accustomed to 2 hours. I’m sure they’ll just keep it plugged in. :)

Since the main targeted use case is meetings, two hours doesn’t seem unreasonable. The micro-LED displays, lense motors, cameras, video and image processing, wifi, etc., all need power.

Cool! Nice to see the extra Mac displays feature from the Quest 2 is making it into Apple Reality

For the cost though...you're better off just getting a Quest 2 if you plan on using a VR/AR HMD as external monitors.
Quest 2 doesn’t have a high enough resolution to read text comfortably, at least for me. Literally the only thing I’m waiting on from a headset manufacturer is to have high enough resolution to have crisp readable text. I am hopeful that this will be that product.

So it's an iPhone screen glued to your eyeballs, but you still need an iPhone to make it work.

There will be a Home screen with app icons that can be rearranged, as well as customizable widgets.
One nice thing about VR is that you can place widgets that aren't covered by the main application you are using. Drag the widget to put it next to the virtual display, or attach it to your real keyboard, or attach it to your wrist.

Now if only the widgets weren't so limited in functionality...
