Well, yep confirmed, most of the 1star ratings are fanboy rants and not because of the functionality of the app.lol

One of these geniuses actually wrote "-ve stars" then hashtagged a review. I fear for the future of the world.

Android users: "Let's give this app one star just because we hate Apple and iOS and not because we have a legitimate reason to give it one star!"
Anyone know if the iOS side of this is baked directly into iOS, or is it an app you download from the app store.
Reason for asking is that if it's an app you download, then it's the first I know of that can directly manipulate your messages from a sandbox.
It's baked in when you set up your phone/iPad
That is wholly unfair.
There is a certain % of jerks on the planet... and consequently, in any subgroup.
Moreover, android is on certain phones that are really affordable, something Apple/iOS doesn't offer.
So by default, Apple has a larger % of people with higher income and probably higher education, because they simply ruled out people with less income...
That doesn't mean android isn't a nice platform for people with higher income... I'll make a guess and say the % of people with high income and education is the same on both platforms, but android also gets all the teenagers, lower income and technically less savvy population, and thus, 30% more market share.
I downloaded from the Google Play store in order to ease my mover from my S5 till my 6s when that comes in the mail next week. It asks permission to access your messages, which is how they can directly access and copy any messages you may have on your phone.
I gave it 4 stars just because I still have to go hardline to transfer my downloaded music, if it's doing everything else via wifi it should be able to transfer that as well.
I wonder if there is a way of using this to backup/restore iOS message history. With everything else stored in iCloud, messages are the only reason I ever do a restore on my device when a new iOS is released.
The difference is no Apple fan would even download Googles app in the first place. They would have to do so to review it.To be fair the same would probably happen in reverse. Fanboys will be fanboys, regardless of the platform.
I can't remember what it was called, and it may not work anymore due to iOS 8.3s security, but it could back up your texts and restore them to a new phone.
EDIT:
I found the app, it's called iExplorer (https://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/features/export-iphone-messages-voicemail-contacts/). It only lets you export them, and you would have to pay to export, but not to view.
Yeah, and if Google made an app for moving to iOS (and Apple allowed it in) there wouldn't be a lot of 1 star ratings because it's about moving to Android.
Agreed. Apple users give competing services a fair shot: gmail, ms office, etc. All well reviewed. Android fans are especially rabid
I think it would be a very interesting comparison.
My observation of Fandroids is that they love to rip Apple & iOS to shreds.
To the extent that many of them believe google invented the modern smart phone interface.
I love pointing them at this article
http://www.theatlantic.com/technolo...y-google-had-to-start-over-on-android/282479/
quoting:
"Chris DeSalvo’s reaction to the iPhone was immediate and visceral. “As a consumer I was blown away. I wanted one immediately. But as a Google engineer, I thought ‘We’re going to have to start over.’”"
Just read the negative responses from the geeks over at Slashdot on this topic.

On the other hand Apple Fan's don't seem to have the same burning need to diss Android.
Why?
So I think if you were to have a "Move to Android" app on iTunes you'd probably find it largely ignored in comparison to this one on Google Play.
Probably about as insecure as Apple users who do the same thing for Google apps on the ios app store. I see reviews all the time bashing Google when they clearly never used the app. It is just such a higher percentage on this new app because it is Apple's first app for Android.Jesus, how insecure are Android users that they feel the need to do this?
What a bunch of whiners.
Yes, there are some Android phones that cost more than iPhones but most don't.I'm a teenager and most people in my school use iPhones, and almost everyone who has a tablet uses iPad. And although there are some cheap androids, there are alsp expensive ones as well, on par with the iPhone. Also, how does an OS show how technically savvy you are? Both android and iOS can get complicated.

14k out of 17k of the reviews were 1 star, according to the screen shot posted above. I think it gives an idea the percentage of the insecure fanboy bunch. It really is sad.I think it's important to remember that 12,000 people is an infinitesimally small percentage of the total number of Android users. Do I believe that Android fanatics are worse than Apple fanatics? Yes. But at the same time, I don't like being judged based on the actions of the most extreme Apple fanboys, so I won't judge all Android users based on the actions of a rabid few.
Most people just buy the phone they like and move on with their life- it's not fair to stereotype them just because other people that happen to have a phone with the same OS are irrational and immature.
I'm both Android and iOS user and I love both OS's (only after I jailbreak and root them), but I feel really pity for those diehard Android fanboys, hating so much on a brand and making so much effort expressing it everywhere online. They really need better things to do..
